a dinner date for two

Posted May 20, 2014 by Xhin

Pirate_Ninja and Jo Nathan, you are Cordially invited to the Lenox, the finest date experience Vegas has to offer.

Feel free to talk to get to know one another.

If you are town-sided, you will have a Dating Gun on your person. If you feel the least bit suspicious of the other player, you can choose to shoot them (preferably after they've paid the bill!).

The other player won't know that you've shot them.

This is a bit like real life; if you shoot your date in plain sight you can't "take it back". So consider all actions here final!

Hi Pirate!

I promise not to shoot you. ^^

Gee... there sure would be more to talk about if we were a couple rounds into the game.

Oh hey, here's something we can discuss.

I'm a drug dealer, see, and the other drug dealers are mooks and are infringing on my prospective customers... If I turn you into an addict, maybe we can strike some kind of deal?

This is how it works:

  • If I sell you cheap stuff, I get a big profit and you get silenced the next day
  • If I sell you medium stuff, I get some profit and nothing happens
  • If I sell you good stuff, I take a loss and you get a special powerup

I'm thinking maybe we can find a balance between you getting powerups and me getting a nice profit...?

    Maybe this will help...

personally, I'm not so sure why this place has such a great reputation. We've been on this dinner date for more than twelve hours and I haven't even been given a menu...

I'm honestly still trying to get a handle on everything (I thought this was going to be a simpler, vanilla-style game to get people used to the new system...not all this alongside zombiedom when I have other stuff to do :P), but I certainly wouldn't be against working something out. Bear in mind that OOG is banned, but if a drug dealer has access to the drug user thread, I guess that's less of an issue.

...and there's romance in everything I do, silly~

It was going to be, but then I realized the main purpose of me hosting was testing out NIFE-specific features, and I didn't want to host two games.

    The mini-games count as IN-GAME.

    look here steakhead,

I didn’t ask for your 2 bit opinion of what was in-game or out-of-game and I am not complaining, (Believe me you’d know it if I was complaining) I made a simple observation. I didn’t ask for a lecture on how you or anyone else does things.

...I meant that as in "if we did need to discuss stuff, we wouldn't be allowed to use notifications or anything," that's all

The drug dealers and drug addicts are all thrown into one thread. The dealers have two drop-down boxes: one to choose a non-addict to turn into an addict, and another to determine which type of drug to sell. The addicts can choose which drug dealer they buy from.

My plan would be to first turn you into an addict. Then I would do one of two things:

  • I'm already selling "good stuff" this round so I'm taking a hit for each person who buys from me, so I might not sell good stuff again until I recoup a little. You'd have to wait a round.

    OR

  • I could sell the good stuff again after turning you into an addict, so if you buy from me, you'll be getting a powerup. After that, I will probably have to sell the cheap stuff for a couple rounds because I'll have lost a lot of money doing that.

I guess what it boils down to is, if you help me out and boost my profit by taking the cheap stuff and being silenced, I'll make sure you also get hooked up with powerups. If you want, we could even come up with some kind of code I can use in the drug thread to let you know which drug I'm selling (because the drug type is hidden from view).

Hmm... Ok, how about- if I make some kind of Xenoblade reference, that means I'm selling the good stuff. If I make a lame attempt at a pun, I'm selling the cheap stuff. If I don't do either of those, I'm just selling normal stuff (which have no effect).

giving a new meaning to Monado Speed, eh? (hehe)

gotcha, I can work with that.

for the record, anyone voting to end this round early is clearly a terrible person for trying to cut our special evening short and I am very offended

    Truce?
    certainly, thank you c:

    Oh snap... I should clarify this. If I make a lame attempt at a pun that is also Xenoblade-related, assume that I'll still be selling good stuff. {y}

If I indicate that I'm selling bad stuff and for some reason you really really need to not be silenced the next round, I won't hold it against you if you don't buy from me. I understand you may have a Mafia power role to tend to, for example.
