As this is the first round of discussion, some extra info:

The [g]Skeptical Sheriff[/g] gets [r]Guilty[/r] results on [r]Mafia[/r] ([r]Godfather[/r] appears [g]Innocent[/g]) but sees [y]Aliens[/y] as [g]Innocent[/g].

The [g]UFO Hunter[/g] is basically the cop against the [y]Aliens[/y]. They get results of [g]Human[/g] or [y]Alien[/y].

The [y]Aliens[/y] select and probe one player each night. If they probe the [g]UFO Hunter[/g], something interesting will happen.

The [g]Sensor[/g] is a little less powerful than before. The [r]Godfather[/r]and [y]Aliens[/y] do not count as [r]Guilty[/r] on the voting results. Keep this in mind!

The [g]Outsider[/g] shows up as [r]Guilty[/r] to the [g]Skeptial Sheriff[/g] and on [g]Sensor[/g] results.

For the most part, the town of Roswell enjoyed one last night of peace and quiet before all hell broke loose. Rising from their beds, they dutifully headed toward the town square. As this is the first round of discussion, some extra info:

The Skeptical Sheriff gets Guilty results on Mafia (Godfather appears Innocent) but sees Aliens as Innocent.

The UFO Hunter is basically the cop against the Aliens. They get results of Human or Alien.

The Aliens select and probe one player each night. If they probe the UFO Hunter, something interesting will happen.

I actually think the Godfather is kind of a saving grace this time around. That role tends to be the one that lasts the longest when a Sheriff is also present, so hopefully that'll be the same situation this time around so that we have a better chance to carry out xenocide on the Aliens first.

I actually once wanted to host a game where everyone was a townie and it only ended when they figured out everyone was innocent. There are obviously too many problems with that for it to work though :(.

I was thinking about hosting a game where it's Mario-fied. In other words, Bowser would be the Godfather, Junior would be the Janitor, and the Mafiosi would be Goombas, whilst Mario would be Cop, Luigi would be Sensor, Yoshi would be the Vigilante (except he eats his targets and turns them into eggs), etc.

That's one of my problems with the use of "Hammer Voting" that Yeano never really addressed whenever I mentioned it. The way we've been playing mafia on gtx0 since it started was that once a vote option hits the 2/3 mark, the round "ended" and any votes cast after that point weren't counted.

On another site that played a lot of mafia games (which pretty much influenced Yeano to bring it to gtx0), the rounds ended at the discretion of the host. In that sense, Hammer Voting actually served a purpose. When Hammer Voting was on over there, instead of the round ending "when the host felt like nothing would change", it ended the second the vote count reached a majority decision. Since Yeano never used that method of hosting, and instead implemented a strict 2/3 vote rule (which is essentially Hammer Voting but with 2/3 majority needed to end the round rather than a 1/2 majority), Hammer Voting has been one of the most completely useless optional rules in gtx0 mafia. Vote Locking is still effective, however, but we've rarely used it.

What Dooku's doing this round is basically how I've felt mafia games should be hosted. If we ignore the 2/3 majority for lynching and instead leave it to the host's discretion when the round ends, we'd get rid of the occasional problem of rounds ending too quickly, as well as possible problems where the mafia can easily overpower the town before the town can react.

I know now isn't the best time to be ranting about mafia gameplay mechanics but this has been bothering me for a while now, and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to illustrate the issue I have with the way rounds are ended. Perhaps we could discuss it more when the current game has ended :).

Has anyone noticed Castrael is being uber quiet? She's been active on the site in general but she's not talking here...

That strikes me as a bit suspicious given her very chatty nature and previous games she's often been talking a lot. She's often one to join in with the joking, of which we've had a lot this time (you guys {:P}... Probably an alien or mafia. More likely alien but random being random it's entirely possible she's mafia... Still, it seems likely she's being silent on purpose.

I see nothing else worth mentioning right now.

Other than we need to return to the ancient traditions of this game...

By my count three people haven't spoken:

Hezekiah it's fairly common for him to only talk when he has something worth saying (like the Ents). He also often misses entire rounds. Whilst he's a strong player in my mind, the mafia probably would realise as I do that it's the biggest waste of a silence ever this early on.

Castrael. She talks a lot. It's who she is. Her absence has only two explanations: silenced or intentional.

Lancer, You'd expect him to at least report in if he could, he always has something to add even if its a nonsense conversation. He's been on the site since the game started and I've not known him to simply forget he's playing mafia.

Therefore I already came to the conclusion that Lancer is probably silenced... I probably should've detailed that in my original reply as its rather important to my theory on Castrael being either alien or mafia.

Also add to that Lancer is a strong player, therefore silencing him round one is as logical a choice as any. Wouldn't be surprised if we see Majora go silent in Day 2 as he's a common silencer target from my experience.
