day 2 both sides blooded

Posted March 30, 2014 by white lancer

Day 1 - What Happened:

As usual, Day 1 started off fairly uneventfully, with most players going about their business or not saying much at all. Many resigned themselves to doing little of consequence during the day round--after all, no one had actually been killed yet, so maybe everyone was just being paranoid?

On the other hand, maybe not. It started off slowly, with just one vote, but gradually something began to happen. The Mafia watched hungrily as votes piled up, maybe out of paranoia, or maybe out of carelessness:

MajorasMask9
Shadowwalked
Jo Nathan
`Roxas`
hezekiah
Hindenburg
Kyon
eXcavator

When eXcavator's vote rang out, the Mafia members looked at each other in surprised satisfaction. "8 votes out of 24 players--we've hit the 1/3 mark we needed. Clearly, no one will care too much if he disappears now." And they seemed to be right--while the votes almost lazily trended back towards No Kill, indicating that they had perhaps reconsidered their rash decision to lynch one of their sharper members, no one seemed to notice that Redack had hit the 8 votes necessary to make him an Executioner target...and if they did, no one cared enough to appeal to the Governor as the Executioner, all in black, dragged Redack to the Town's traditional execution scaffolding to do the deed.

As Redack's head rolled along the ground, a few of his nosy neighbors, maybe feeling sorry for their carelessness, decided to clean up his house in duty to the dead. What they found there shocked them. Hidden away in an alcove, knives, a gun with a silencer, a meat cleaver, hammers...and fingernails, each taken from the left little finger from each of his victims. The neighbors screamed in shock, then sighed in relief, then smacked their foreheads in exasperation, as they finally realized why Redack was always working with the wood chipper in the backyard--he was a Serial Killer.

Of course, among the murderous tools they found were also discovered two handwritten notes, professing the sender's undying love and admiration for Redack's work...

1. The Bandit
2. `Roxas`
3. Speed Bike Pro
4. Black Yoshi
5. Jo Nathan
6. Kyon
7. MajorasMask9
8. Moonray (Redack) - Serial Killer
9. Feral Wolf
10. Apollo Justice
11. EvilGuy0613
12. eXcavator
13. Lady Flare
14. Bubba
15. hezekiah
16. chiefsonny
17. Lightvayne
18. Count Dooku
19. Marvalo
20. RockyT
21. Shadowwalked
22. Hindenburg
23. SD Yoshi
24. Pirate_Ninja

The ratio: 14-6-2-1
24 hours or until all Night Actions are in

NOTE 1: Since I'll be at work tomorrow at the time the round is scheduled to end, I may be unable to end the night round in time. Hopefully I'll be able to shift the round-ends to the afternoon rather than the morning from now on...
NOTE 2: The Executioner is allowed to kill any player who reaches 1/3 of the vote count at any time during the day. A few players mentioned this in their role thread, but it still seemed like it may have been unclear, so I'm heading off questions before they begin--please feel free to ask if you need clarification on any of the roles! In future day rounds I'll post the threshold for the Executioner kill in the main thread.

Quick OOG note for everybody:

Tomorrow is our site's annual April Fools day event, when we will be dealing with mashed up user names, self-changing words, and other such gags. I have asked Xhin(Our webmaster/super-admin) to make this forum and Adventure exempt from the changes to prevent confusion and headaches. He agreed, so we won't have to deal with that non-sence this year.

The Rogue Wolf

Quick update while I'm on lunch break...

The Mafia laughed in glee as they came back from their latest kill, high-fiving and toasting one another. Their target tonight, none other than Speed Bike Pro, had been taken down without much trouble, and while it was a little annoying that he was just a Townie, it was still relieving to have an easy kill.

Gradually they split off and went to their own houses, and all but one went directly to sleep. One member, however, came home and noticed that his door was unlocked. He thought that was strange, but he trusted in his own combat skills and feared little, so he went in anyway...only to meet a quick end at knifepoint. He would have given his life for his fellow Mafia members, but he never thought he'd be targeted himself--farewell to hezekiah, the Thug.

21 players left, so 14 votes to end the round (or 72 hours) and 7 votes for an Executioner kill.

We're more or less winning. We just have to kill the rest of the mafia, because the SK is deciding to be beneficial to us.

Let's start off today with some fun.

At least the Watcher, Tracker, and Journalist can detect the Serial Killer now.

April 1, 2014
Lady Flare

If there's one thing for damned sure, we have to be aware of the Executioner, lest what happened last time happen again. We don't want to be losing people willy-nilly.

April 1, 2014
Black Yoshi

Hopefully we'll get a Journalist article today as well. I'm actually a little surprised we didn't get one in the last round, even if they had nothing to go on. Usually people are quick to send a public, anonymous message, even if there's nothing substantial to say!

With the Serial Killer dead and only two Admirers left, I don't imagine they're going to pose much of a threat :). I do expect the Admirers to be in contact with each other which we should keep in mind, since according to the role descriptions, while it may not have been intended for the Admirers to be able to collaborate, I see no reason why the Admirers wouldn't contact Redack in private telling him "Hey, I'm an admirer" to essentially make a 'mafia' team of 3.

The Thug dying could be very good news for us. If they use all of their night actions on different people, that's three chances that they'll hit the Paranoid Gun Owner, and have no backup, meaning one less power role. Their only defense to this would be to not use their actions, which will help us regardless :).

We have a huge numbers advantage right now and I do agree with SDY that we should kill someone. I'm very suspicious of some of the later voters for Redack (Kyon/Hindy/eXcavator piling votes back to back, pushing the vote to the 8 needed for an execution.) I obviously don't think everyone that voted for Redack was mafia, I mean I was the first to vote for him, but I do think there is a very good chance one of those 8--or more likely, one of those three--are mafia. I'd honestly be more leaning toward Kyon than Hindenburg or eXcavator.

April 1, 2014
MajorasMask9

I don't understand how the Admirers can potentially be in contact in the way MajorasMask9 described. Yes, Redack was the original Serial Killer. He was killed at the end of Day 1 by the Executioner. And we didn't find out his role until he was dead. Since Dead players cannot talk to living ones, how did the Admirers know to contact him (the Serial killer)?

April 1, 2014
Lady Flare

Both Admirers learned who the Serial Killer was (Redack) at the start of the game. With OOG and Night Talk allowed, an Admirer could contact Redack in private and tell him that they were an Admirer.

If both Admirers went to Redack claiming to be Admirers, then Redack would know who both Admirers were and could relay the information to the both of them, making them a team of three.

This could all have taken place as early as Night 0. Or it could have not happened at all! Just a possibility that seems likely :).

April 1, 2014
MajorasMask9

Oh, if there was confusion about how they would have known Redack was the Serial Killer, it was listed in the role description for the Admirers in Night 0.

Admirer x2: Knows which player is the Serial Killer, though the Killer does not know who their admirers are (nor do the admirers know each other).

April 1, 2014
MajorasMask9

Ok. I didn't read the first part of the Admirers' description carefully enough. Thanks.

April 1, 2014
Lady Flare

Does a potential executioner target have to finish with the required votes, or simply meet it at some point in the round?

April 1, 2014
Bubba

Hi how is everyone.

I'm going to vote for Kyon. His only post last round was to vote for Redack and while that doesn't mean much on Day 1 when barely anyone talks, it's very typical of how he plays as mafia. The mafia were two votes away from getting Redack lynched, and he writes one short line and votes for the person that needs a vote. In past games when I've been mafia with him, it was not uncommon for him to never talk unless we explicitly told him "vote for ____." If the mafia were anticipating a Redack execution last round, I think it's very likely that they would tell Kyon to put a vote in for Redack.

April 1, 2014
MajorasMask9

I could get behind that, but I'm holding off for now as I'd rather not play chicken with the Executioner any more than necessary. We lucked out last time, but I wouldn't count on that happening twice so I'm none too anxious to go carelessly tossing votes around.

as people start speaking up, we may also find out whether the Silencer's had their fun. Still over a dozen possible candidates.

April 1, 2014
Pirate_Ninja

I agree that more people need to speak up. Especially in such a large game, and it's already been just under 24 hours since the round started. Figured pointing out my suspicion of Kyon could get things rolling :).

April 1, 2014
MajorasMask9

I think Majora's reasoning is pretty sound. Like Pirate, though, I will hold off on my vote for now.

Also regarding whoever is silenced, let's remember that silencing does not guarantee innocence. The Mafia have in the past silenced one of their own for the sake of making him or her appear innocent.

April 1, 2014
Jo Nathan

I'm here. I'll vote whatever, but not until the third day of the round. We need more people to speak up.

April 1, 2014
Feral Wolf
The Rogue Wolf

Admirer x2: Knows which player is the Serial Killer, though the Killer does not know who their admirers are (nor do the admirers know each other). They have no special powers of their own, but once the original Serial Killer dies, one of them will be randomly chosen to become the new Killer (and the third after that). Admirers would show up as innocent to a Cop, but once they become Serial Killers themselves they aren't skilled enough to avoid detection, so unlike the normal SK they become vulnerable to Cops, Watchers, Trackers, and the like. Admirers win the game when they and the Serial Killer outnumber the Town + Mafia.

Majora, one of the Admirers has replaced the Serial Killer, so we still have a SK out there. They are still a threat.

April 1, 2014
Feral Wolf
The Rogue Wolf

Right, but they're not a major threat. They're basically a mafia team of 2 in a game of 21 players. They're going to kill people still, yeah, but the chances of them making it to the end are against them unless they make some really, really bold and lucky moves.

April 1, 2014
MajorasMask9

Considering only 8 people have posted so far today, we need to get some people back in the thread. I'm pretty sure 21 people didn't get silenced.
We couldn't even make a vote majority with the people we have. If you're reading this and haven't posted this day yet, please comment on MM9's suspicion of Kyon. Don't care what you say, just say something. kthnx.

April 2, 2014
SDYoshi

I'm going to vote for Kyon.

hel-FUCK.

I actually am trying to be active this game but have uh... been distracted.

Anyways. I have my guess on who is mafia considering who was killed and who I think is silenced.

April 2, 2014
Kyon

SORRY I KNOW typical me having things to say but been very busy these last few days. I had a research symposium today, and spent most of yesterday preparing for it - regardless of whether or not I have downtime now, I have some stuff I'd like to contribute, but I'm going to sleep now because I'm utterly exhausted. Hopefully I'll have one of those premonition dreams where I destroy Mafia/Serial Killer(s?). But yeah, I'll be posting tomorrow just in case people were concerned by inactivity ^_^

April 2, 2014
Apollo Justice

Kyon, who do you think is silenced and why? I ask because so many people have yet to post at this point.

April 2, 2014
Jo Nathan

Hindenburger would have already posted by now. I talk with him daily off of this site so I know he's active and the fact that he at least hasn't graced us with his filler text bugs me.

So let's say Hindy is silenced. I think it's more of a coincidence that both Speed and Hindy, who are essentially the Bonnie and Clyde of gtx0, were both targeted in a single round.

April 2, 2014
Kyon

and what I mean by that is:

I think somebody who is annoyed/dislikes those two had something to do with it.

which is why I voted feralwolf44 and am also suspicious of chiefson.

It's the only lead I got right now and if Hindy isn't silenced then NVM.

April 2, 2014
Kyon

I have a genetics test tomorrow so if I'm a bit unresponsive today I'm sorry I SWEAR I'M READIN THE THREAD

Also we have to be a lot more careful throwing around votes because I had completely forgot there was an executioner and then everyone piled votes on Redack (turned out good for us but still).

I think if anything, we need to take a closer look at people who bandwagon on votes.

I think if anything, we need to take a closer look at people who bandwagon on votes.

Sounds like a good idea. Here's the list of people who voted for Redack, and in order, courtesy of the original post:

MajorasMask9
Shadowwalked
Jo Nathan
`Roxas`
hezekiah
Hindenburg
Kyon
eXcavator

Potential conflict of interest since I am in that list, but for what it's worth, mine was just a joke vote. Based on the posts made, I would have to think Majora and Shadow were also merely joking (please correct me if this is not the case). I don't think any of us were expecting the bandwagon that would ensue.

It looks to me like Roxas' vote was the first 'serious' one, since he apologized to Redack while voting for him.

This one sticks out to me: hezekiah was the first one who gave a reason for voting for Redack - he voted for him because he thought he hadn't posted at all. When Redack clarified that he had posted, just under the nickname "Moonray", hezekiah acknowledged Redack's response but kept his vote on Redack anyway.

Then over the span of just half an hour (which may or may not mean anything) we get Hindenburg, Kyon and eXcavator all voting for Redack, sealing his fate to be executed.

Make of that what you will. I'm feeling dizzy all of a sudden and can't think anymore.

April 2, 2014
Jo Nathan

Someone want to tell me why this name change is being allowed after a game has started?

same. This isn't me who's doing this.

April 2, 2014
Kyon

Also there is a possibility that Hindy is faking the silence.

April 2, 2014
Kyon

Yes, that is always a possibility. It's also possible that the Silencer would silence a fellow Mafia member, as this tactic has been played in previous games.

It would be easy to deduce who is silenced if we could get everyone else to post.

April 2, 2014
Jo Nathan

Still no report from the Journalist?

Considering only 8 people have posted so far today, we need to get some people back in the thread. I'm pretty sure 21 people didn't get silenced.

Welcome to gtx0 Mafia.

There's no reason to vote for Kyon yet, but the looking at the last few Redack voters makes perfect sense and I'd be more than willing to kill him (and, lacking any substantial new information on Day3, killing someone else on that list). I think going after the second to last person to vote for him, as opposed to the last person, is also very logical.

I don't support the Speed/Hidenburg theories. It's very possible that Hidenburg is simply busy/not interested, and Speed could have been targeted because, you know, he was a good player. I guess the Silencer can do what he wants, but I would imagine the mafia would be pretty upset at risking a PGO kill and Watcher/Tracker detection just to silence Hidenburg.

Make of that what you will. I'm feeling dizzy all of a sudden and can't think anymore

Sudden dizziness?

Sounds like mafia sabotage.

But on a serious note, I think that before anyone casts any votes, if everyone could say what vote they want to go with first, preventing any possible executioner hits.

As for any leads, we'd need more conversation to get any good bearing otherwise we're just taking shots in the dark.

April 2, 2014
Shadowwalked

Didn't realize day 2 started o_O

Just posting here to say I was definitely not silenced, nor do I really have anything or importance to say about kills during the night round either other than it was nice we got another mafia guy out of the pile.

While I do have my theories, nothing that can be proven at the moment...It would be nice if more people posted to get a better idea of what is going on

April 2, 2014
Lightvayne

Hmmm good point about the journalist. I thought something might have came up by now.

Anyways I myself don't really have any leads at the moment. Best bet may to be voting some one who seemed serious about wanting Redack dead I suppose.

April 2, 2014
EvilGuy0613

Does a potential executioner target have to finish with the required votes, or simply meet it at some point in the round?

Must have missed this one. Someone becomes a viable Executioner target if they meet the vote threshold at any point in the round--that's what happened to Redack.

EXTRA, EXTRA! READ ALL ABOUT IT! THE JOURNALIST HAS LEFT US THIS SCINTILLATING ARTICLE!

;_________;

April 3, 2014
Apollo Justice

There are a lot of people wandering around at night.

I am open to voting for Kyon. Although we should be careful. The Mafia are usually up on tactics. In others words, I think a lot of the Town probably forgot the Executioner was in play but the Mafia would be well aware of the role. (After all, he's one of them.) So we should maybe look at earlier votes and not just the last three. The Mafia may have tried to get something going against Redack or another player to see if others would foolishly join in. They weren't looking to lynch him necessarily but to accumulate enough for an Execution.

April 3, 2014
Lady Flare

don't cry polo-chan

you'll flood the house

April 3, 2014
Pirate_Ninja

The round ends in about 18 hours, so we should decide on a lynch target if there are any people that have objections.

People who haven't spoken at all this round:

`Roxas`
eXcavator
Count Dooku
Marvalo (Did Feral ever help him with his account issues?)
RockyT
Hindenburg

Kyon said very early in the round that he thought Hindenburg was silenced. I was actually a little surprised he came up with a name so early on. I know they talk off-site a lot, and he expressed possible doubt that it might not be Hindenburg, but he said that Hindenburg would have to be "pretending to be silenced" instead of "not silenced," which makes me feel like he knows Hindenburg was silenced, and that early in the round, I find it suspicious despite that off-site talking they do. Especially since he used the fact that Hindenburg is probably silenced to point a finger at Feral and/or chiefsonny.

This on top of the vote for Redack last round (second to last) makes me feel like Kyon is a very safe choice for a lynch this round.

April 3, 2014
MajorasMask9

My only problem with lynching Kyon is that he's almost always silent, regardless of affiliation, so higher participation levels don't tell me as much as I'd like. As far as the Hindenburg thing goes, I do think it's likely he's silenced and Hindenburg told Kyon so OOG, but the random quip about faking a silence hit me the wrong way. Regardless, I don't feel strongly that Kyon is Mafia, and I have a feeling there's much more menacing threats out there.

I don't feel like the Redack votes say as much as people hope. It's a total grab bag, and I think the people who voted for him who are/were guilty (hezekiah, as an example) only did it to keep up with their "typical" playstyle and not seem suspicious either way. Also, another note, the Mafia are incidentally trying to scope out for the "Serial Killers" as well, and since Redack was lynched, he was someone both the Mafia and town are really targeting - my point being that with Redack's lynch in particular, everyone except the Admirers were intentionally trying to scope out and kill this person/role. If we're going to analyze the votes for Redack, then maybe the people who didn't vote for him should be the ones analyzed, because I sureas heck doubt the Admirers would have voted for him under any ccircumstance last round.

But since there's so many people who *weren't* voting for him, it'd be next to a shot in the dark, so I don't think that's our best strategy yet. It might be something to come back to, though. With that being said, the Serial Killer(s) might even be able to take out a few Mafia for us, and I really don't perceive them to be much of a threat at this point, especially with Moonie gone. For all we know, the two left haven't even gotten in contact yet, which would make them even less of a threat.

I am open to voting for Kyon.

but he said that Hindenburg would have to be "pretending to be silenced" instead of "not silenced,"

but the random quip about faking a silence hit me the wrong way.

Hindenfart told me he was silenced. So I jumped right in the theory train and started to concoct a plausible theory.

Now about what I said:

It's the only lead I got right now and if Hindy isn't silenced then NVM.

and more importantly,

Also there is a possibility that Hindy is faking the silence.

I had already posted that I thought Hindenpoopy was silenced, but the more I thought about it, the more I thought this could all be a ruse. Many people before have fallen for dirty mafia tricks, especially involving silencer tricks. So I just wanted point out that why I do think that Hindenbutt is probably silenced, there is a level of doubt to it.

April 3, 2014
Kyon

If he really told you he was silenced, I'm inclined to think he's being honest. I can't fathom what he gain by lying - if someone else really were silenced, that person would make trouble for him in the very next round.

April 3, 2014
Jo Nathan

Uhm...I thought there might've been a thread for the night. So sorry for the absence. Okay so it is Day 2, I guess.

I'm not silenced, but I'm not sure who to vote either{:/}

April 3, 2014
RockyT

I have to go to work and won't be back before the end of round. I don't want to kill Kyon at this time. Yes, I was open to killing him, but maybe not just yet.

I'm curious to know what Dooku's doing wandering around at night (Journalist report). If we can believe the Jurnalist. The Mafia are going to want to know as well (unless he is Mafia). Something to consider next round. Maybe Dooku should role claim Day 3.

I'm going to vote for Roxas. I know he has long hours at work but he hasn't said anything in 3 days. Not a hi or I'm still alive or anything. IDK how long a player can go inactive without being host killed.

April 3, 2014
Lady Flare

I'm pretty inclined to agree with Flare here, but I know Roxas has an unpredictable/busy schedule, I would just think he'd have enough time to at least say "hi sup" as Flare said. I'd only want to kill Roxas if it wouldn't create a tie with the number of votes Kyon has - I'd rather have a kill than a no kill, but at the same time, I feel as though there might be better options than Roxas or Kyon...

I have class from 12:30 - 3:15, so I'll be unavailable at round end, which is concerning, considering the lack of votes. {:?}

Marvalo must have a legitimate problem with his account, or just is completely ignoring Mafia, but I have a hard time believing he's been looking at this thread and simply choosing not to respond. On that note,

People who haven't spoken at all this round:

Balls, I totally forgot that Dooku was moving around during the Night. So obviously not just a Townie.

April 3, 2014
Apollo Justice

So Dooku is either...

Ninja, Silencer, Mafia Investigator Executioner, Mafioso, Journalist (unlikely, since the Journalist probably wouldn't have checked themselves), Serial Killer, Nurse, Gunsmith, Watcher, or Tracker.

As far as the Journalist goes,

Apollo Justice stayed in for the evening on night 0. Hah, what a loser.

who would call me a loser.....
SOLVE THE PUZZLE!

April 3, 2014

btw I might be wrong with the "who Dooku is" stuff but he's obviously not a Townie or a Governor so I just tried to eliminate some of the roles he definitely wouldn't be ^___^;;

Apollo Justice

Note: I won't be able to close the round on time--it'll have to wait until I'm home from work. The roun will still 'end' once we hit 12:21 PST, so any votes cast once we hit that time and after will not be counted.

April 3, 2014
white lancer

Well, if Dooku isn't mafia, he is going to die tonight. Close to a 50% chance of him being mafia, so why not take the chance?

That is if the journalist can be trusted. Users who have played past games with the journalist, how does the role usually work? Are they pretty trustworthy?

April 3, 2014

"Apollo Justice stayed in for the evening on night 0. Hah, what a loser.

Wait, does the journalist get two night checks?

April 3, 2014

...since the round will end almost exactly when I start class this afternoon (would be in class now, but it was cancelled), I figure I should cast a vote now. Though Kyon doesn't really have that Mafia vibe this time around, I do sense something off about his actions. Even if he is just the Serial Killer/Admirer, it would be one threat down.

Still slightly hesitant but...

April 3, 2014

Gotcha.

Didn't really read the thread too well, so I have no idea why Kyon is getting votes. But I like the Dooku vote as I laid out in my previous reply.

April 3, 2014

I still don't see any reason for the mafia to silence Hindenburg. I would assume he's either lying to kyon or the mafia silenced one of their own- both of which say to me that he needs to go.

As flare mentioned about dooku- there are a lot of dudes moving around. I don't really accept apollos list. There's zero reason for the mafia to not use their ninja role first. I would assume the journalist doesn't see the ninja either, so that reduces the number of Mafia roles to two. Add te SK and tere are three viable targets compared to 4 town targets for dooku. I'd be fine with killing him maybe tomorrow if he doesn't wind up dead tonight, but the numbers just aren't there right now to justify it.

I'm going to vote hidenburg. Mostly a guy feeling but I think my analysis makes sense.

???? But my list was all the roles that could possibly move during the night. The only reason it wouldn't be true is if the Journalist was lying.

I just explained this... The mafioso role wouldn't show up unless the mafia didn't use their Ninja power. The Ninja role himself wouldn't show up at all if he was the one moving.

Count Dooku - I'm going to kick your BUTT if you don't talk

I WAS STUDYING LEAVE ME ALONE.

Anyway, that was an unfortunate reveal on the journalists part.

At first I wasn't really sure how to respond. Maybe claiming Watcher or Tracker would make me less of a target. But the fact is all the town power roles are too useful to be left running around at night once revealed. Nevermind that such a claim might cause the actual watcher/tracker to prematurely reveal, resulting in a dual loss for the town.

I am the town's nurse. Last night I was out protecting Jo Nathan. And, FYI, I am unable to protect myself because the nurse is a junk role.

Don't all the Mafia roles leave their houses at night to go to the Mafia hideout? The Ninja might not be seen leaving his house (or entering someone else's house) but the other mafia should be seen at least leaving their own houses.

Oh right, Journalist wouldn't see who actually killed with the Ninja in play. My bad ^O^

Lady Flare, whenever watching roles are in play, it's usually been the case that only the first player on a team (like the mafia) that votes for the group kill is the one that shows up as leaving/visiting the killed player.

So for example, if Dooku is targeted for a mafia kill tonight, and Kyon is mafia and is saved by the Governor, and he placed the first vote for Dooku, he'd be the one that's seen killing Dooku.

If the first person to vote is the Ninja, then the actions aren't visible.

I understand that, Majora. But are Mafia roles seen leaving their own houses at night to go to the Mafia meeting place?

Nope, at least, assuming this follows the established night movements from previous games.
