If someone doesn't read/notice a key piece of information, despite it being displayed clearly for them to see, how would you like the host to proceed?

1. Strictly, don't offer them second chances.
Or
2. Give them one final chance to realise their mistake and fix it next round.
Or
3. Offer them a chance to fix it in the current round.

I'm asking everyone because I want to know how you all want to be treated in this situation by the host so that I (or any future hosts) can deal with it fairly.

Number 2. That way the rule or whatever, doesn't get taken advantage of. Especially when you keep reminding them a dozen times. And maybe PM them and let them know why/how they created that mistake?

I wouldn't that at all...

I'd personally prefer a strict interpretation if its blatant. This is a text adventure game, after all.

If its some minor detail, easily missed, then sure, give them a chance to correct it.

Not sure I like #3 at all

Ehhh... From my experiences in the past as mafia host, I would do 1.

Well I personally want to go with option 1... But I'm also conscious of making a balance between fairness and fun so I wanted everyone to voice their opinion, thus establishing what is fair officially :)

I think it should be strictly enforced (option 1). I'm not exactly sure what you're basing this on, but if it's something like "A door to the north is locked" and the player tries to move to that room as their action, their action should just fail without warning, because it was stated that the door is locked.

I'd say #2.

The context could be as serious as if they missed the detail and ignored it, they're dead... Or as irrelevant as trying to open a locked door...

As much as I screw up I'm probably going to regret this.

#1

Assuming you are talking about the info at the top of the page, to me this is kinda like the life flow of the game. I re-read it before every action.

If there's something in the content that the player does not understand they can contact you.

Might be a good idea to re post how they do that since it kinda gets lost in all the other posting chatter.

Yea, #1.

I'm trying to think of an easier way to handle it... Right now everyone needs to either contact me on AIM or send a notification on GTX0... But neither of those are particularly convenient as I'm not always on AIM and notifications have a character limit that means you can't ask anything more complex then 10 words :P

If sneak mode were available for regular posts instead of exclusively for actions, that could mitigate that problem.

I'd say #1. It adds some realism, i.e. if you miss subtle details in real life it could cost you dearly, and you don't get second chances.

"Sneak mode" is actually just the mod tag feature renamed and given a green highlight (it works for none mods because they can see posts of their own that are tagged).

But the problem is, only I can see sneak mode posts made by other people and none of you can see my sneak mode posts... Thus creating an issue where I still couldn't send information privately. I suppose I could edit the reply but then what happens if the round ends before you check it... Etc, etc.

I have a few proposals for Xhin, one of which includes a method for asking/answering questions but it just depends how easy it'd be for Xhin to implement.

Since this is the first game, Option 2 should carry out until the conclusion. Other than that, Option 1 moving forward on other games.
