Female Alpha Wolf

Also, Feral, I did no such thing as to contact you! The only person I talked to while alive about my role was Frustro, and that was only after he offed Zanic.

Kassie messaged me about what we should do as a combo, and she wanted to go after FAW, but I talked her into tracking Serpe. (cry)

I'm 50/50

It only works late game when you've got a lot of townies, so if the mafia were good enough to get rid of special roles as soon as possible then it becomes useless. Similarly if you establish yourself as being highly like to be townie and then kill off the special roles once they claim.

It's a mostly useless strategy in a janitor game with lots of townies, because then you can't do it right at the start and over time the janitor is going to take away roles for the mafia to hide behind.

But I can see why it would annoy you, the cop role annoys the hell out of me because I tend to get investigated early on regardless of if I am suspicious or not {:P}

it's a first come first serve believe bias

I find its the opposite. The town tends to believe the second person to claim because they logically believe that the first claim was a lie and the real person came in to claim afterwards. Some kind of day time "janitor" role for the mafia could mix that up a little, would open up the strategy of counter claiming for the mafia and force the town to actually think about the two claims and decide who they believe.

Pretty sure I had said something like that the game with the Mob and Mafia. {roll}

can't decide if I want to play game 12 or disappear for another eight games.

Kassie the Eevee

Yeah, Frustro contacted me with the idea, and I incorrectly assumed that HE was the Watcher. He correctly me quickly enough, but I didn't mention that part in my thread. In the end, my death was in vain. I only have myself to blame, though. Didn't need to be in the Mafia thread to know what they were thinking.

I had an idea for a role that would allow a bit more interactivity for the dead players without it being unfair for either side.

The Medium

A town sided role, very night, the Medium can pick one already dead TOWN SIDED player. The Host will show the last daytime reply from said player in the Dead thread. Names will be omitted only if DIRECTLY linked to a role. So in "Ah, so XHIN was the Janitor!" Xhin's name would be omitted. However, in "I suspected that Red or Dooku was Mafia. Guess the Cop/chiefsonny proved my suspicions right." No names would be omitted. Because the Medium can only communicate with a willing spirit, they can NOT pick a dead Mafia member.

This role would really make the host and dead Mafia members stop spoiling everything the second they die, and make the dead players have to think about what they say. Remember, dead players still win with their team.

I was initially gonna have the Medium be a Priest who could resurrect a single dead player, but there are to many complexities for that to work.

Feral

Lol yeah, I forgot all about the Ninja and realized too late that them killing Feral wouldn't help the Town at all. I'm actually pretty glad that I got off'd - otherwise I would've pushed for chiefsonny or Trever's lynching. FMA was a master at flying under my radar, at least on MSN. But I'm glad that the Town made it through and put an end to the tyranny of puns.

September 17, 2012
Frustro

Sounds very, very interesting.

Only move by the Mafia I found odd was the killing of Frustro after he was practically removed from play as a power player.

Player Scores for Game 11

chiefsonny +3 (+1 Survived, +2 Winning Team)
Count Dooku +4 (+1 Survived, +2 Winning Team, +1 Good Play)
CtR Black +0
hezekiah +1 (+1 Good Play)
Jo Nathan +3 (+1 Survived, +2 Winning Team)
Kassie the Eevee +3 (+1 Survived, +2 Winning Team)
Female Alpha Wolf +1 (+1 Good Play)

`Roxas` +2 (+2 Winning Team)
Serpe +2 (+2 Winning Team)
Shad~ -38 (-30 Not Existing Anymore, -8 To Get A Reaction Out Of Yeano)
Trever Leingod +2 (+2 Winning Team)
white lancer +0
White Thunder +2 (+2 Winning Team)
Xhin +1 (Survived)
Zanic +0

I know the "Good Play" points are subjective, so I'm listing my reasonings below :)

(Good Play Notes)
*Count Dooku: I'm actually surprised you weren't killed off in place of Frustro. Throughout the entire game you had a fairly good idea of who the mafia were, and you didn't have many problems at all getting people to vote with you. You were a real power player this game!

*hezekiah: You appeared to be one of the more powerful mafia players this round. It may partially be because you were around a bit longer than white lancer, but you still brought up some good ideas in the mafia thread regarding strategy. Especially after white lancer was killed, you seemed to emerge as the "leader" almost.

*Female Alpha Wolf: Maybe I'm biased because I'm glad that the Newcomer managed to meet up with the mafia before dying, but had some circumstancial evidence not been brought up against you at the end of the line, I tihnk you probably could have flown under the radar farther than you ended up making it. Prior to the last round, I don't recall you being brought up as suspicious by many people at all, and didn't even appear as someone the mafia wanted to take out prior to you joining them.

*Frustro: Main reason being that you killed a mafia member with your sheriff powers. I expected it to go a lot worse when I initially added a Sheriff to the game! You were also awesome in general.

*Redack: Despite few people listening to your ideas at first, your suspicions of white lancer and Zanic pretty much made the game what it ended up being. It definitely would have been a very different game had white lancer and Zanic been alive any longer than they were.

-----

And that's that! I have no idea who wants to host Game 12, but I know it won't be me. I can't update the Player Scores document, but I think chiefsonny and Roxas are the top two now, so they'd get first picks at being next host. Unless Yeano wants to host..

Agreed, Roxas, and I said as much in the dead thread. They (we) would have had a better chance if you had gone down that night and Kassie the night after--that way there wouldn't be any time for the W/T to get any good info after the Ninja went down.

Also agree about the role claiming--it can be a good strategy but there's something wrong with the setup if that's an instant-win strategy. That wasn't the case this time but it still damaged the Mafia's chances quite a bit. That's why I love the Janitor role--it adds a lot more uncertainty to a roleclaim, at least when there is a sufficient number of vanilla Townies. When I play IRL we never reveal the dead person's role when they are killed, even if it's by town lynch, which makes role claiming dangerous for both sides since the Mafia won't know if the role they are claiming is dead or not, either.

A solution to roleclaims would be nice, but I personally dislike the Janitor as the ONLY solution. We had far too many games with the janitor in it for my liking.

Count Dooku

Also, can we clear up the rules about being Silenced? We thought about silencing Dooku the same night we killed Redack but we didn't because we were afraid he would just say something via AIM or something. An official ruling as to whether being silenced in the main post should mean being silenced from talking about the game in general would be nice.

September 17, 2012
white lancer

Back when I was brainstorming role setup ideas for this game, I had the idea of a "Gravekeeper" role, which ended up getting scrapped. I figured it would be best in a game with a Janitor, but basically the Gravekeeper would pick one dead player, and find information about that person. In this game, they would have gotten Watcher/Tracker reports if they died, known the identities of the other Club Member, Sleepwalkers identities, etc. I imagine it would be better in a Janitor game though, where the Gravekeeper would learn the identity of a body that went missing.

I know on another site that I've probably mentioned here a lot by now, there's an option you can set where players roles won't be revealed at death. I imagine that + a Gravekeeper type role would be pretty cool.

MajorasMask9

Silencing should mean that the person doesn't discuss the game, on or off site. Unfortunately there would be no way to prove if they communicated or not (unless they admit to it). It's more of an honor system thing, kind of like being dead.

September 17, 2012
MajorasMask9

As per tradition upon completion of a game, chief, would you like to host the next game?

Personally I treat Silenced in the main thread as Silenced everywhere, including GTX0 PMs and Messenger programs. Anyone talking about the game on any of those while silenced should be subject to a host kill.

Hmm. Me, Lancer, and Redack are unable to reply in the normal way. I notice that, so far at least, those who died in the last game can't reply, while those who survived can. I still say it's a bug in the role system.

Problem solved--thanks, Yeano!

Personally I treat Silenced in the main thread as Silenced everywhere, including GTX0 PMs and Messenger programs. Anyone talking about the game on any of those while silenced should be subject to a host kill.

Had I known that's how you treated it this game might have turned out very differently. :P I recalled Redack talking to me on AIM back in Xhin's game so figured silencing you wouldn't do any good and would just make me look even guiltier. Would it be possible to get this made an actual rule? Otherwise the Silencer really doesn't have nearly as much power.

No good playing points </3

I wouldn't complain if you were awarded good playing points since you played well, but from the looks of things Majora decided to go really conservative with awarding good playing points (which is 100% his prerogative) and I don't really have a problem with his selections.

Oh, and have we discussed giving MM9 good host points yet?

IMO Majora was a good host--I'd put him third after Yeano and hezy as our hosts so far (hezy was always 100% on top of it when it came to starting/ending rounds on time, and I think his game was a bit better balanced. Also, he doesn't suffer the enormous deduction Majora gets for bad puns). I for one have nothing to complain about with Majora's hosting.
