game 12 the end a death worth four

Posted October 17, 2012 by `Roxas`

The shortened day was shortened further as Jo Nathan cast the deciding vote in his own death, confident to prove the naysayers wrong about their doubts he was among their ranks. The four living people worked their way to Helius' estate, when FAW noticed a shed the rest in the back of the house's remains. Kassie picked up a note from Helius that read as follows:

"If you've made it this far, go to the shed out back where the final Day Kill will take place. I trust you know how this will probably go."

Dusting off a window, FAW peered inside and noticed sketches on its walls. Frustro busted down the door and a light bulb hanging in the center of the room flickered on to illuminate the sketches showing the numerous deaths that had greeted Trever, White Thunder, #85 and MM9 in the last two days and nights. "So was Helius working with us and them?" Frustro questioned. A red door with an arrow pointing up intrigued Jo Nathan. As he moved closer to it, a belt of some sort was attached by a device that came out of the wall. He pushed the door open and stepped forward only to start moving down a decline. The door slammed shut behind him as TV monitors came to life in the shed. FAW, Kassie and Frustro kept a close eye on the monitors as Jo Nathan was seen zooming farther and farther down. Two shackles came zooming in around his wrists, moving with him down the dark decline. A buzzing sound was heard by the doomed man as his arms were removed from his body. The three still in the shed saw blood splatter on the cameras as saws were still whirling above him. Jo Nathan came to an abrupt rest as he felt thousands of needles work their way in to his body. A cry of agony rang through the shed as Frustro and the girls watched in horror. A faint green glow was moving closer and closer to Jo Nathan, where he observed bloodthirsty piranhas swarming toward the glass, looking at their next meal with hungry eyes and empty stomachs. After all, it had been a full day before their last meal that was #85. When the tank stopped in front of his face, Jo Nathan could see that he was now in a secluded area, with just two inches of glass separating him from sure death. A beeping sound greeted him from his waist as the belt chimed to life until it exploded both inward and outward, causing not just the glass to begin cracking, but Jo Nathan's innards to spill out to his feet. He looked up with weak eyes as the glass erupted toward him, the Devil's children not far behind. What was left of Jo Nathan was just bones as the fish finished the job that the other tools could not. Jo Nathan, the Godfather, was dead.

This was a well-played game on the Mafia's part (especially JN). I'm actually surprised the Town won in the end. Nice call at the end there, Frustro (and way to save the day against CtR, FAW)!

OOHHH my God I feel giddy. Tons of kudos to Jo for playing so suavely. If it wasn't for CtR's arrest that pretty much outted Jo as the last Mafia, I totally would've gone after Kassie.

Lovely creativity, Roxas. I was missing the feeling of bile shooting up my throat. In hindsight, it all kinda goes with the Halloween theme.

Frustro

I played with the idea of gruesome deaths from the start, but decided not to do so. Then when you brought up Saw-like deaths, I HAD to go for it.

`Roxas`

Ha, Thanks. If I appeared suave on the outside, let me tell you I spent the last few days just absolutely shitting myself.

Kudos to you, Frustro, for being a worthy adversary. I kid you not, I wanted to take you out early in the game because I had a feeling you would be a force to be reckoned with, but instead I figured I'd go after the "veterans".

I would've gotten away with it too if it weren't for you meddling Agent. {:P}

It really doesn't make sense, but the un-logic could work in their favor...

Heh, that's how it always feels on the Mafia side. Sometimes the Town makes what by all rights should be a stupid decision, and it works out for them. On the other hand, sometimes there's just something a little off about your posts that tips them off.

I know I'm supposed to be unbiased, but I actually want you to win.

I always root for the Mafia when I'm hosting, mostly because it's trickier to win as the Mafia and so those victories are rarer.

And JN, your fatal mistake was allowing that last night round to go so fast. Other than that I think you played probably the best game of anyone here even though you didn't win.

white lancer

Many thanks, I'm glad you think so. For the past couple days I was feeling like the dumbest person ever.

Yeah, I panicked when FAW showed up because I wasn't expecting Day 6 to end so fast, and I didn't want someone using the "People" feature to see me online, so I voted quickly and scrammed instead of thinking things through carefully.

I think my first fatal mistake was deciding against lynching CtR.

But I think I speak for the rest of the Mafia when I say we all made a mistake by choosing to kill Feral and try to pin it on Majora. When Zanic and Trever stuck their neck out and I saw the feedback they were getting from everyone else I was like "aw hell no, I ain't touching that with a 30-foot pole."

First of all of my kudos for a "Great Job" go out to `Roxas`. Way to hold up under very trying circumstances Airman E3.

Kudos also to the Mafia for a great game. Jo Nathan you played awesome.

To Frustro and FAW in the end, you guys won it for us. Good Job.

To everyone. Great game.

I'm really bad at this game.

The Bandit

First off, what the hell is up with the names? It's pissing me off.

Second, I'm sick and tired of being mafia. I think that's three games in a row now. I can't play as mafia.

October 17, 2012
Zanic

Gosh blast it, we were so close! That was like what, three or four days of Mislynch and Lose for the town? And they actually pulled it off!

I wonder if that weird comment I made that Frustro caught actually screwed us over >_< Admittedly, it had nothing to do with the fact that Jo Nathan was Mafia along with myself, but rather an honest mistake I would have made even if I was a townie - but the fact remains it might raised attention to Jo Nathan where none was there before (sad)

And I have to point out how sick this town was! {:P} I had by far the most grueling death out of anyone this game.

October 17, 2012
Trever Leingod

It was a pretty exciting game, at least from Round 3/4 onward. It's always fun browsing the Mafia/Dead threads after the game. Jo and Trever were getting on friggin' Light Yagami-levels of mastermind plotting. I don't think it was any slip-up's on their behalves so much as it was sheer dumb luck that they still lost in the end.

Not quite yet, sir! {:P} But thanks for the kudos.

First off, what the hell is up with the names? It's pissing me off.

Check the "Halloween Costumes Feature" link at the top.

Already explained about your role this game. Next host, don't give Zanic a Mafia-sided role!

And I have to point out how sick this town was! {:P} I had by far the most grueling death out of anyone this game.

The only sick one is Helius! All the nasty deaths took place on his estate. He didn't want to have competition come election time!

He may have had the equipment but the townies still used it?

I'll take that as a compliment (look)

October 17, 2012

What purpose did he have for keeping all that equipment though? And the Mafia used it too!

Ah, yes, I imagine it would have been better for you guys if Feral had been around to cause trouble for Majora (and I would have felt much worse about mentioning my suspicions earlier). Still, you came very close to winning the game regardless so it wasn't a fatal mistake.

Already explained about your role this game. Next host, don't give Zanic a Mafia-sided role!

Noted. Guys, don't vote Zanic out next round. :P

Great game for JN especially, and props to Frustro and FAW for getting me the winning points I so desperately wanted {:P}

White Thunder

That was by far the biggest comeback I've ever seen in a game of mafia.

Jo Nathan did an amazing job as mafia. If you hadn't killed anyone in that last night, I legitimately would have never considered voting for you and would have gone straight after Kassie. I felt so betrayed when I entered the dead thread!

It sucks that the game started out as slow as it did, but it really picked up halfway through. Was fun!

Yeah, after it was too late, I figured that may have been a possibility.

I felt so betrayed when I entered the dead thread!

Gawd, you were treating me like one of you so much that part of me actually felt bad killing you off...

I think it was his arms.

I don't know what it is about you, me and FAW that keeps bringing us together at the end of these games, but I feel like this won't be the last time.

Jo Nathan

Yeah, I panicked when FAW showed up because I wasn't expecting Day 6 to end so fast, and I didn't want someone using the "People" feature to see me online, so I voted quickly and scrammed instead of thinking things through carefully.

This is what pretty much made me sure you were guilty. No way Kassie logged in just at the right moment to put the kill in after not saying anything the entire game.

I had a large, elaborate reason, but then I accidentally deleted it before I voted for you. (shifty)

The only reason I came back into the game was because I was surprised it was still going, and that I was still alive. Then I looked through the rounds and it all went from there.

Good show ol' chaps.

October 18, 2012
Female Alpha Wolf

Still wanna know why FAW arrested me...

October 18, 2012
hezekiah

Lol. I was so sure you were guilty. Because you really argued against a mass role reveal in and out of game, then at the VERY start of a new game, you called for a mass role reveal even though that most likely would have lost us the game quickly.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought this.

October 18, 2012
Female Alpha Wolf

I didn't think hezy was guilty because of that. I just didn't think it was the best plan. But I could see why you would think that.

October 18, 2012
white lancer

I would have thought the same thing if I were in your shoes, to be honest.

October 18, 2012
Jo Nathan

Didn't I fucking explain why I wanted the rile though? There's a huge difference between hating role reveals and hating how effective role reveals are. It's an annoying (for the mafia), centralizing strategy, but farrrrrr too effective a strategy to simply ignore when it's more than feasible. We had 3.5 kills per the Mafia's 1, which would've been plenty to simplify the game greatly.

But I guess you guys preferred to spend the last couple weeks in repeated Do Or Die situations. That's cool too, I guess.

October 18, 2012
hezekiah

I don't think your idea was invalid. It's just more people were against a role reveal than they were for it, so you were standing out for that reason. It's not your fault, you just were put in shitty circumstances.

At least your death wasn't the deciding one that won it for the other team, right? That happened to me twice and I've only played three games. {:P}

October 18, 2012
Jo Nathan

Poor FAW, you REALLY seemed to get lost after the site went down. At least you made it back, though. Kassie is still MIA.

Yeano, we are still waiting for your imput on the Halloween Mafia game. In fact, I am gonna move that thread here so the non-mods can give imput. Just so you all know, the current plan is to hold the next game for a week or two to allow the regs to rest and advertise the special game.

At this rate we'll be starting the Halloween game after Halloween, not to mention finishing much later xD Unless we do something like cut down how long the day rounds last or something.

October 18, 2012
`Roxas`

Aye, give the man a point for being a good host! He handled the job like a pro.

October 18, 2012
Trever Leingod

Damn right you should get point(s). The game almost needed a reset but you kept it going and it turned out awesome.

October 18, 2012
Jo Nathan

My point should be for "Winning Team", not Good Playing. I burned Governor Helius to death just for speaking! {moon}

October 18, 2012
Feral

It can be forgiven because it led to gruesome death's at the Governor's estate.

October 18, 2012
`Roxas`

Yup, points for Roxas for enduring while the site was going to hell. And the deaths... they pleased me. /megusta

October 18, 2012
Frustro

Points awarded don't look right... Should be +2 for each townie (such as Feral) for being on the winning team. Not gonna complain about getting the Good Playing point, but I think all I deserve is +3 (winning team, surviving).

Never mind, I take that back, last game I got 3 for surviving and being on the winning team.

October 18, 2012
Trever Leingod

I kinda feel White Thunder might deserve an extra point; he and Majora played roughly equivalent games this time around with the only real difference being Majora surviving one extra round. Other than that, I agree 100% with the point distribution! ^^

And IMO Roxas was about on par with Majora in terms of hosting (which is a compliment, by the way). I'd say give him the good host point.

I re-evaluated the points for White Thunder, and y'all are right (don't know HOW I missed that, but I did). Town-sided players who were active through the game up to their deaths also received the winning point I left off.
