game 19 mafia thread

Posted July 25, 2013 by white lancer

Welcome to Game 19, esteemed members of the Mafia! Without you, there is no game, so thank you for doing what you do (i.e. torture and murder)! Let's look at the list, shall we?

The perpetual Mafia member, Apollo Justice, is the Godfather. You're the leader of the Mafia, so your vote breaks ties, and you're immune to detection abilities like that of the Watcher. Besides that, you have no other powers, aside from apparently having the power to get selected as Mafia every single time.

Hezekiah is the Janitor. You're an expert at cleaning up bodies and leaving no trace, so you can prevent the identity of someone who dies during the night from being discovered. The role will then be revealed in this thread.

Kyon is the lovely Hooker. You have the ability to block any player (aside from the Commuter) from using their night action. You can't use this power on the same player twice in a row, however.

MajorasMask9 is the lowly Mafioso goon. You get to do the grunt work, but you're still a full-fledged member of the Mafia so you still get to be all nefarious and stuff.

Aside from this, it's come to your attention that there's a Traitor in the Town's midst. They will try to help you out, but you're not sure who it is. Take care not to hit them. Also, beware of the Serial Killer! They are not on your side (though you both hate the Townies), and they're immune to your Nightkilling abilities.

Good luck!

I put a note in the main thread specifying that using that method is against the rules. Ideally, everyone would follow that rule, but it's impossible to be sure...

I don't trust him!! Besides Skype would probably be easier if hezekiah uses it.

hiall regardless :)

Alright, let's win this.

So, just a few things I’d like to put out there as I’m thinking about this game:

1. Since I have the advantage of not being seen by the Watcher, perhaps I should be the first to cast an official vote for the Mafia kill every night, since only the name of the first Mafia member to vote would be released, and I am exempt from this.

2. Once it becomes inevitable that one of us will be lynched (for example, there winds up being near-max votes for one of us near the end of a day round), we should keep in mind that it would be an opportunity to join forces with the Traitor. In other words, the person who is about to be lynched should potentially take the chance of saying in the Day thread “if you’re the Traitor, I think it would be in your best interest to contact me” or something. We may be taking a risk in case the Lawyer had stepped up to save us in the previous night, but even so, the Mafia member on the lynching block would likely be lynched the next day anyways. Having the Traitor on our side is exactly what we need, and hopefully we can evade killing them before we find them. So, we have to be very careful with how we handle that.

3. LLight is a threat. He could potentially be a big threat. I don’t think he’ll go after me Day 1, and I don’t think he’ll go after Majora initially, either, but I have no idea as far as Kyon or hezekiah go. I think he’ll be hesitant to attack me, at the very least.

4. Mafia isn’t underpowered, but we have lower numbers than the other games I’ve played. Let’s keep ‘em going. I think this is a great Mafia team <3

Majora, Kyon and I will definitely be using Skype (or some other medium) to communicate throughout the game, but I’ll definitely be using the Mafia thread extensively as well. I think… I may have gotten some kind of read off of LLight, and I’ll discuss it further a bit later. hezekiah, like Majora said, I think it would be a good idea to perhaps establish a way of speaking outside of GTX0. Just a thought, but if we did AIM or something, we could even add white lancer in just to oversee everything we speak about so at least the Host is up on everything we talk about in case we fail to mention things in the Mafia thread. It’ll provide lancer with some entertainment, at least {;)} but ultimately it’s up to you guys, I just want to throw ideas out there before Day 1 begins.

I’m actually at work right now but on break soooo I guess I spend my break time working on Mafia. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or bad thing…

OK LET'S HOPE NO ONE CHECKED MY CLICKS

My skype name is hezekiah957.

I'll hide my own body tonight, because why not.

Bah. The Mafia thread is so much less interesting nowadays. :-/

I really don't mind posting here, because there's so many Night actions that it's... I mean, I think it'd be safe. If anything, it might be later on in the game that we'd want to avoid always being on the Mafia thread (given whoever of us is still alive).

I guess I'm still a bit paranoid, especially because LLight seems to think he's already narrowed the Mafia down. I already have a few ideas I'll throw out there.

- Dooku's the only one who hasn't spoken besides Kyon in the Day 1 thread (I think). Could be Town Drunk that didn't make the night action.

- Castrael possibly Serial Killer, Majora and I were briefly discussing the possibility of using the Hooker on her tonight to see what happens. I do think she's a special role, either way.

I am very, very iffy about the Traitor. I just feel like it's going to be so difficult to know... how to approach that, because we have to be so wary.

I have more thoughts but idk I am just a bundle of confusion and speculations

I should probably expand on Castrael. I think she's a special role, yes, and the reason I think Serial Killer is because of how she responded to I think something Majora asked her OOG? She basically said "I'm not the Serial Killer...... Ahem..." which I could be reading too much into, but IDK. It's not like we can Night Kill her IF (very big if) she is, so that's why I think using the Hooker on her could be a good idea to see if it's true or not.

There's also a chance she's the Traitor, but then again there's a chance she's anything. She just is getting SO involved in posting in the Day thread, and she seems to do that when she's got something to hide.

Also, white lancer, is there anything that the Traitor can do? As in, an action, or are they given any privileged information of who the Mafia is?

I still do think we should hooker Castrael first, just to play it safe. Maybe kill Dooku in hopes that he's the Drunk, and then hide his body?

Preliminary low-down in my crazy mind as Day 1 winds down, will add on/change points if more people speak up:

1. Speed Bike Pro : Acting mostly like usual, maybe playing more cautiously.

2. The Bandit : Acting like usual. I should go back to game 17.1 and analyze his behavior when he was Mafia. Perhaps that could help.

3. White Thunder: I’ve never played a game with him. I really don’t know how to go about reading him just yet. Has a somewhat resentful attitude, joking or not, perhaps an indicator of not being aligned with the Town?

4. Black Yoshi: Acting like usual, maybe a little more eccentric.

5. chiefsonny: Not acting completely ordinary, I think he’s only made one post. Perhaps a power role or…?

6. Bubba: Really not sure yet. Hasn’t contributed much.

7. Apollo Justice: Godfather

8. MajorasMask9: Mafioso

9. Pirate_Ninja: He’s someone I have a very hard time reading, despite speaking with him on a regular basis. Unfortunately I can only go on hunches, but I have a feeling he’s a power role, I would say more likely town-sided than not. Unless he’s the Traitor…

10. Zanic: If I had to pick someone so far that I had the least to go on, it would be Zanic. Maybe it’s because he’s just a vanilla Townie, but who knows.

11. Castrael: I think she is a power role more likely than not, and if I had to take a complete shot in the dark, I’d say Serial Killer. I think using the Hooker on her would be our best bet for tonight, unless something changes.

12. Kyon: Hooker

13. Female Alpha Wolf: Previously said she pays less attention to the game when she’s Townie, which seems to have held true the past two games. But she has posted quite a bit more this game, which is something I’d like to note, even if it was all said in jest of the pun situation.

14. Jo Nathan: Can’t say I have much of a read on him at all.

15. Count Dooku: Hasn’t posted yet, so no idea, but it is possible he silenced himself as the Town Drunk.

16. hezekiah: Janitor

17. LLight: Posting much differently from last game, likely because of the rule-change. I don’t know if he’s making weird stats or not, but if he is, it will possibly change a lot. He said he thinks he’s already narrowed down the Mafia, so I’d like to see him not-alive sooner rather than later if he’s Town-aligned, but then again, with the possibility of him being the Traitor, it’s hard to say.

It's possible that the Traitor is being quiet to avoid detection or nervousness or something, I don't really know. But it could be a strategy, which is why I have a slight worry that someone like Dooku could be the Traitor. Ah, this is going to occupy my mind too much.

17 - 4 (us) is 13. 3/13 of these players are not aligned with the Town. That is a 23.1% chance that each person is not Town-sided. And one of them is one of us… Traitor, please come find us, hear my telepathic plea~

Just my thoughts!!! Let me know what you think {:D}

The Traitor has no information or special powers, which makes it a tricky role to play (just ask hezekiah!).
