After discovering their mistake with Castrael and realizing just how close the ratio probably was, the members of the Town slunk quietly to their houses. Gunfire erupted during the night, and they lay huddled in their beds, dreading the news the following day would bring.
After a sleepless night, the members of the Town trudged slowly out to the Town Hall for the daily meeting. Time to discover who got whacked last night. Once there, they took a headcount.
And another.
And a third, for good measure.
They considered running the numbers over to a calculus professor in the next town, just to be sure, but finally they realized that while they had been utterly unsuccessful in their quest to rid the Town of the Mafia thus far, they hadn't yet lost the ability to count.
Everybody lived and was accounted for.
Now that is more than a little curious.
