As stated in the Redacted game 2, LLight was deemed not guilty of cheating. He did use a broken method, but this method has been fixed by Xhin. (Thanks, Xhin!)

Ahem... That being said, most people were calling for the game to be restated, so ok.

If you want to play game 2, register here. I will roughly try to use the same role list.

Meaning, if the sign ups are around 19 people again, I will try to make it as close to 1 Godfather, 1 Silencer, 1 Mafioso, 1 Thug, 1 Vigilante, 1 Wheel Gator, 1 Cop, 1 Doctor, 11 Townies.

But obviously, if we get more or less people, in order to have a balanced game, I may have to change the role list for the game.

Well, the vigilante, Wheel gator. The Mafia dosn't even have a one person kill. They can only silence, and vote ONE person out. While town has a Doctor who can constantly revive anyone, and the cop could detect all but the godfather, come here to tell the townies, then THREE out of 4 mafias COULD be wiped out in one day. With the townie, Wheel Gator, and vigilante votes.

ALSO, I think we should disable seeing post counts in this game so no one can check the active users, and when a new post was in.

Cause, for example, if like...the cop was the only person on, and they make a post in the cop thread, all the person watching would have to do is check the active users to know instantly who the cop is.

You can no longer see who is viewing what threads (as in they don't show up as yellow anymore), but you can still see how long ago a person visited GT and the post count if you are not that specified role.

I admit, i abused post count, and active users last game. But only because I felt we didn't stand a chance against the townies, and the opinion was just right there, so it was just kind of tempting. So if that opinion was taken away, all of our minds, including mine would be put at ease unless Xhin or Llight break the game again.

Coordinate with your fellow mafiosos to be online at the same time as a townie, post around the same time and coordinate more for when to post in the mafia thread. Post count and online status is easily fooled by edit. Those are just some ways to mitigate me playing as a townie or what I'd try as a mafia.

It's still an unnecessary risk that shouldn't be part of the game, and isn't in most cases on other sites. If anyone is able to figure out people's roles from methods like this, it ruins the entire point of the game, and there are people who will take advantage of these opportunities (as seen by the past games here). I even remember being concerned posting in the cop thread in the first game when someone I knew was mafia was online; that should never be a concern in a game where all of these communications are generally done via private messaging.

Which is why I think the reply counter in the forum view should be disabled for certain threads if possible.

Go for it, if you think it's necessary. I can't think of a way to disable javascript:ajax('ajax/views','','/index.php?forum=newest&mode=rep','gann'); because you can call it on any page of the site. We'll still be able to see who is online and when. Besides, Xhin has already nerfed it.

I'll sit this game out if it means more people will sign up.

Should I mention the "User Search" tool that all mods/admins have access to? I just realized that that tool is the ultimate cheat device in this game. It shows exactly where ALL online users, logged-in or not, are in the site at ANY given time. I would say our mods are trustworthy, but given LLight's habit of cheating...

I don't know if the admin version of this tool is different than the mod version, but if they're the same, then use it to your heart's content. It won't help. This forum's posts are kept hidden. That includes the Newest Replies forum and, from what I've checked, the post search feature too.

Yes, theoretically that could all happen in one turn. Chances are, however, that the vigilante and Wheel Gator help the mafia, since it is more likely for them to kill a townie. They don't know anyone else's role. AdmiralTrainstorm almost killed Feral, the doctor last game.

The Mafia's power is knowledge. Be clever, and you can win. I've done it plenty of times myself.

    Integrity. Now there's a word you don't hear a lot anymore. Thanks #85 for reminding me of it's existence in today's world.

    Lying, misleading, misinformation, all parts of the game.
    But cheating, if that's what has happened should not be part of any game.
    Nor should taking advantage of tools or loopholes that give anyone a unfair advantage over others

    End of rant.

    That said, I will give it one more try. Because I like the game and out of respect for Yeano and Xhin who worked hard to bring it to the site.

    Cliff notes answers:

  • Everyone could use the People tab
  • Everyone could see post counts
  • No one used the mod tool "Recent Users"
  • The mod tool "Recent Users" is the same for moderators and administrators
  • Xhin is the only exception, full URLs are displayed in the People tab as seen in Recent Users
  • Mafia game is masked for "Recent Users", it shows up as http://gtx0.comMafia Game

    In my defense, it was not cheating because I let you know how it was done shortly after my re-discovery and it was a basic forum function that everyone knew prior to the game start. Everyone has known for months, maybe years. Forgetfulness, sloppy and reactive behaviour was your folly and all players, if they were careful at all, would have known that before posting. I fucking owned this game so don't get butthurt by calling me names.

    Listen man, I'm not looking for anyone's approval. It just is what it is and what happened; happened so there's no need to sugar coat and backpedal your feelings. We should go for progression and not ignorance.

    Since this is the last day to sign up, I guess you can count me in.

    Another suggestion since you're going to have a hard time coordinating without a post count. Topic post counts should be visible only to those people who are assigned that role.
