game 27 night 1 who will die first

Posted June 22, 2014 by MajorasMask9

As you probably notice, this game will be using the old mafia system and will not have any NIFE-specific features in play. The one "gimmick" to be aware of in this game is that there are two cops. One will be a normal cop, and the other will insane. OoooooOOOOOOooooooo...

Players:

1. hezekiah
2. `Roxas`
3. Pirate_Ninja
4. Ghowilo
5. SDYoshi
6. Jo Nathan
7. Black Yoshi
8. Lightvayne
9. Kyon
10. Hindenburg
11. Count Dooku
12. white lancer
13. EvilGuy0613
14. Castrael
15. Helius
16. Bubba
17. chiefsonny
18. Speed Bike Pro
19. Apollo Justice

Ratio: 5-14

Roles: Godfather, Public Killer, Hooker, Mafioso x2
Cop x2, Doctor, Vigilante, Poltergeist, Psychiatrist, Turncoat, Suspect, Townie x6

          ---------
      THE TOWN
          ---------

Cop: As usual, each night, the Cop can investigate a player. If that person is town-sided, they'll receive a result of Innocent. If the player is mafia, the cop receives a Guilty verdict. The two exceptions to this are the Godfather and Suspect. The Godfather always appears innocent while the Suspect always appears Guilty. The Turncoat will show as whichever their current alignment is.

Insane Cop: In this game, one of the two cops is an Insane Cop. They won't know they're insane, however. The Insane Cop receives the opposite results that they would normally receive. For example, if the Insane Cop investigated the Doctor, they would get a result of Guilty. The Insane Cop will not be revealed as insane on death, they will only be listed as "Cop."

Doctor: As usual, each night, the Doctor can pick one player to protect. The person they choose will not die that night (so long as the Doctor isn't roleblocked.)

Vigilante: As usual, each night, the Vigilante can pick one player to kill. This is completely optional.

Compulsive Psychiatrist: Each night, the Psychiatrist must choose to visit another player. If that person is suffering from insanity, they will be cured. If the Compulsive Psychiatrist doesn't protect anyone, they will be silenced the next day.

Poltergeist: As usual, the Poltergeist swaps two players at night. Any actions intended to target one of the switched targets will target the other player instead. For example, if the Cop were to investigate CtR Black, and the Poltergeist swapped CtR Black with Frustro, the Cop would get results for Frustro thinking they were for CtR Black. Similarly, if the Doctor intended to protect Frustro in that situation, they would protect CtR Black instead. The Poltergeist is immune to roleblocking. The Poltergeist can choose to swap themselves with another player, as well.

Turncoat: The Turncoat is a role that starts off town-sided. If the Mafia attempted to kill them, however, the kill will fail and the Turncoat will become a Mafioso. If they're killed in any other way, they will simply die.

Suspect: The Suspect is similar to the Outsider of previous games. However, the Suspect is not aware that they are the suspect! They show up as a Townie to themselves.

         ----------
      THE MAFIA
         ----------

Godfather: As usual, the Godfather is a member of the mafia that appears Innocent in cop results.

Public Killer: Once--at any point in the game, day or night--can immediately kill a player without poison, regardless of any protective roles. Once the kill is made, the killer's identity is revealed to the town. For desperate times!

Hooker: As usual, the Hooker can visit one player at night. That person will not be able to use their action. The Hooker cannot target the same person two nights in a row.

Mafioso: As usual, the Mafioso is a member of the mafia.

--------------------
Night Action Priorities:

  • Poletergeist Swap
  • Hooker stuff
  • Psychiatrist cure
  • Cop checks
  • Vigilante Kill
  • Mafia Kill
  • Doctor recovery

(Since the Public Killer kill can happen at any time, it is not affected by the Doctor or Poltergeist.)
    --------------------

The game is starting on Night 1, which means killing roles will be allowed to kill. Any other roles with actions can use them as well. Night 1 will end in 24 hours or after all night actions are in. Have fun!!

Special note: I'm allowing Night talk for Night 1 only. Enjoy!

What did you decided about OOG?

OH, thank you for reminding me about that.

Out of Game communication will not be allowed this game. Mafia members can, however, discuss the game OOG with each other, but not with anyone outside of the mafia.

I'll make this a bit more obvious in the Day thread.

So we're back to Ye Olde Mafia again...should be interesting. And killing roles can kill first time out -- even more interesting. The first round might actually tell us something for once.

I know this is a sudden change, but I'm going to allow Night 1 to go for a full 48 hours rather than 24. Especially since it's been so long since the game has been in progress last.

I'm also going to say that I think this kind of setup might be a good response to the Night 0/Day 1 dilemma we've been facing for years now. I.e. starting on Night 1--possibly for a special extended duration--and allowing Night Talk. The biggest qualm people had with starting on Night 1 was that it essentially made it so certain players had a chance to die before they had a chance to even say anything. Then again, another qualm about Night 0 and Day 1 was that nothing really happened and it would end up being a waste of time. Starting out on Night 1 and treating it more like a Day round in a sense seems like a good compromise and I feel like it will get things going a bit faster than usual.

We can discuss it more after the game is over :). I did plan on making a discussion post afterward anyway.

But lynch votes still don't count until the end of a day Round right?

Only night actions apply during he night round?

    June 22, 2014

Correct, votes made during this round shouldn't be made in the first place. They don't count and will be reset when Day 1 starts.

However, it is still fun to vote.

Compulsive Psychiatrist: Each night, the Psychiatrist must choose to visit another player. If that person is suffering from insanity, they will be cured.

Does this only apply to the Insane Cop or are there other ways for "insanity" to be introduced into the game?

There would be no way for players to be made insane as the game progresses. They start off insane and can only be cured.

In this game, there is one normal cop and one insane cop :).

    MajorasMask9

So the Psychiatrist has no other use other than the one insane cop it can cure, correct?
