Wot at dying during a MRU. There was a defense roll but that wasn't a defensive action. How did I die? PN commanded a zombie to daze and I got host defended? I'm a bit confused. I thought player vs player combat actions are updated at the end of the round. There was nothing locking me in combat since I never targeted anyone with a combat action unless you mean to say that targeting Lady Flare counts as a combat action instead of a cooperative one.

I should have clued in when I saw a combat roll when I attacked some zombies earlier but that was because I thought they were treated as NPCs unless commanded. Are they treated as minions and you're updating what you would have normally updated at the end of a round last game? What then is the difference in what is updated during a MRU to an end of round?

If you are also updating PvP combat at the MRU, which action types are dependant on the full round? For example, hunger effects or damage over time counters.

As I said, this game I am updating player g's zombie actions mid round (the same applies backwards). I never said anything about it being different when PN commands then, that's just an assumption you've made.

Anyway you'll be back in the game shortly (well still a few hours before I do the update).

The defence roll was because the zombies attacked you, I have always done defence rolls for people regardless of if they actually defended (but an actual defence often applies some kind of bonus to the roll).

Since PNs action was specifically targeted at you while you were on top of the church it also wouldn't have mattered when I did it as long as the rolls came out in his favour (which they did by quite a large amount).

Actions done at the full round update are PvP (either a human zombie, such as yourself, or a human attacking a human. Regular zombies are counted as NPCs).

As I said though, the outcome would've been the same regardless of when I did the rolls (so long as the rolls came out in his favour and I'm not gonna get into a "well they might've been different if you'd waited" argument because you could say the same about the order I do rolls during updates and it's irrelevant).

Ah I see. The other thing I was thinking of which didn't quite get answered in the Road thread was about how the room was set up. In a location you pick an inside and outside, but climbing to the roof of a building doesn't count as a move action. Why is that?

What if I entered from Moonray's House and climbed my way to the roof from window? Would I still count as the room I started in or would that count as the Road?

The roof of the buildings is considered part of the road (main reason is because you could see the road from where you are and people on the road could see you from where they are so it makes more sense to be on the "road room" than still in the "building's room".

I thought it would make more sense that the roof counts as another floor of the building.

Then there's the issue of do I make a roof post for every building or do I move you "into" the room but on the roof? In my opinion it makes more sense and is more efficient to just have you on the road but on the roof.

Because if you were on the roof, but I put you inside the church room, you'd be able see who is in there, how many zombies and talk to people in there. None of those make any sense from the roof. They all make a lot more sense in the road room however.

Life's path is never straight.

Castrael is still inside of the car that I made her crash. I'm trying to get her to flee so I can get a +10 roll bonus against her and not have to go through the roof of the car to do it. It should probably hit because car roofs aren't very thick. Hopefully her head gets impaled with a bloody pitchfork.

Just to note the +10 to speed rolls simply determines whose action goes first. This is included in some combat situations as well as deciding if you prevent someone from escaping.

Was going to say something but then realised you can't see how you died. So here you go!



After failed attempts by Jo Nathan and SDYoshi to remove LLight, Jo Nathan pulls out his pistol and shoots it straight into LLight's head. Putting an end to him... Again... For now... To be continued...

BUT! Just when he thinks he is safe, the agile zombie that killed LLight the first itme leaps onto Jo Nathan much as LLight did and pins him to the ground. SDYoshi backs out of the way (because the plot demands it) as seven zombies shamble around Jo Nathan and share their "friendship" with him... R.I.P. Jo Nathan.

I also like that once you die you can still play so long as PN revives us. Looks like the penalty for death is a round missed though, seems like a fair trade-off.

Mid Round Update
The zombified Hindenburg shambles his way into the graveyard from the Church.

As Xhin searches the corpse he sees a twitch in it's arm... Is this person still alive? He wonders. Then suddenly, the zombie springs up and pushes the surprised Xhin down flat on the floor! There it remains, pinning him to the muddy grass as it tries to eat his brains!

(Xhin is now considered pinned under the zombie until something changes that fact.)

End Of Round

Pinned to the ground by one zombie, Xhin is then hit on the head by the arm of Hindenburg and the other zombies slowly shuffle in to eat his brains and add him to their friends list.




Hindenburg was one of the zombies that pull of their arm and throw it.

Yea, when you died I didn't think "wait he can't see it.". I'll dig yours out and post it next.

You will always revive. How it works is you die, come here until the start of the next round (so if you die mid round then you only half half a round to wait). PN is then asked what he wants to revive you as out of his list of zombies he can purchase (and he has to pay to revive you)... If for whatever reason he doesn't pick something then I turn you into one of the basic zombies.

Every time you die, he gets to make the choice again and it doesn't have to be the same type.

Like regular games, when you die your items are deposited into the room :)

As zombies you can't carry very much at all and you're not very skilled with items (unless your zombie role states you are).

LLight glances down at the road just in time to see two zombie arms flying at him from below. Dazed he finds himself briefly unable to move as the third zombie displays acrobatic skills unseen thus far by the villagers, it quickly climbs the church and assaults LLight... In the struggle he is pushed and with a thud (because splats don't exist in this universe) crashes into the concrete beneath. The nearby villagers concern quickly turns to suspicion, for he will soon revive as one of the zombie horde!

But... but my Mars bars... They don't even sell them in the States. ;_;

They did introduce a US version of the Mars bar at one point and then discontinued it. It wasn't the same thing though- it had almonds and crap and it was gross.

So I need to know where there's a bunch of players holed up. Will be spending 2 attacks on MM9/Ghowilo because they're together and are a thing (oh haha), then last action to throw cars at buildings with people in them. How about that? Omega Zombies are kind of limited so I would prefer not to die. This +50 on offensive/defensive rolls seems really nice.

I'm also shocked at the revelation that you don't drink tea.

I was a hopper before you guys killed me. It was pretty cool except for the bad rolls that invalidated the rest of my moves. It at least helped me pin down 3 of you guys on the Road, which seems to be a nice battlefield.

Binding/blocking moves would be really helpful. It's the Armless Ones that have the action block though.

    PN is going to stun MM9 and Ghowilo, but the added interference moves are always welcomed. I figured Omega would be a heavy hitter, like a zombie trump card where we could barrel through locations because of this insane roll buff.

    You get +10 because it looks like Majora is going to be locked in combat and then flee, providing he survives.

    How he died:

    Ghowilo attempts to take refuge in a car, but Jo Nathan pounces him like some kind of pouncer? No... That can't be the right name?... Jo Nathan then proceeds to pounce on Majora, landing directly on his neck and breaking it. Fortunately zombie health care plans cover broken necks and he should rise again soon. Meanwhile Ghowilo sneaks off while no one is paying him attention, but also before LLight can pay him attention.

    Ahhh I've been getting some really bad rolls this game. 2/3 of my actions had rolls and they both rolled--It's probably easier to paste the results like this:

    //grabs Ghowilo and MajorasMask9 by the leg and starts smashing them violently into the ground - Speed Roll: 39 Void! Ghowilo escaped, majora died.
    //rips apart their limbs and chomps into their torsos (target: Ghowilo and MajorasMask9) - Void! Ghowilo escaped, majora died.
    //picks up and starts throwing nearby cars to the Grocery Store, which explode because they're cars with gas tanks - (Actually only one car had fuel, to prevent them from just driving around in lots of cars, but throwing a car still does damage so let's see shall we). Combat Roll: 46 Success! You throw a car, but you cannot see what damage it does from here.

    Since the roll was so low I doubt it did much damage to the Grocery Store. I'm thinking of spending 2 attacks on SDYoshi and 1 more action throwing cars on barricaded locations once I get more information from PN, otherwise I'll probably just charge through areas or break the supports on buildings so that they collapse. I could use another show hopper from Jo Nathan because that was awesome.

    We could also move the cars to box them in and then PN uses that one ability to set fire to the place, burning everyone alive. Mwahahaha! Or you know, toss in another horde of zombies knocking on their door.

    just to clarify in case you're wondering LLight, the car throw (whilst an offensive action irl) isn't considered offensive within the game because it wasn't specifically targeted at anyone so that's why your role bonus didn't come into effect.

    Sorry LLight, I have to make a judgement call because methinks your first action is actually two. I can do one of the following:

  • omit the second portion of your first action
  • count your first action as two actions and truncate your third action
  • count your first action as two actions and omit your second action since your third is a movement action and is probably more important to you if I had to guess

    Well after reviewing some of the actions that Xhin allowed in the previous round, and looking at some of the actions of other players this round, I may reconsider for the sake of fairness. If I were hosting the whole time, I would not let players get away with the things they're squeezing into single actions... but they already enjoyed this luxury and it would be too frustrating for them if I took it away at this point.

    Use of distraction tactics to have Dooku waste a move (or two?) to kill an inactive player who may subsequently revive is successful. Meanwhile, we're rolling in brains for revival with a 1 round cool down. I'm not sure if PN used that to his advantage, but it at least serves as a buffer.

    I've had to send a few notifications to Shadowwalked throughout this game to make moves, but it just seems like he isn't interested. Boy, are you inkling for a host kill or something?

    Since you guys are not in the Garden Store anymore, I copy/paste this so you know how things went down:

    Oh the horror! LLight approaches SDYoshi, picks him up, and heaves him toward the door to the Garden Store with all his might! SDYoshi's already broken body is no match for the blunt force trauma, and he perishes, a bloody mess on the ground outside the store. I guess if there is any lesson to be learned, it's "let the omega zombie win at tic-tac-toe."


    Also Shadowwalked did make a move so he is not at risk of being host-killed.

    How many players do you think we'll kill if we boxed them into a room to prevent movement, set hunger, and then set the place on fire? Hopefully there are zombie distractions in there as well to make them feel the fear of being zombified. Pressure anyone? We're already halfway through this game and only 8/15 (54%) of the players are dead.

    Anyway, just throwing that idea out there. I saw that SDYoshi ate food so he's no longer hungry. Was hunger one of those limited use, or is that supposed to occur naturally every 5 rounds or something rather? Hmm...

    Ahh SDYoshi, you're one of the players I wanted to avoid killing, but I put together a kill priority list with Jo Nathan, Count Dooku and chiefsonny at the top. If there were players in the same room as me, then I would target them. I picked these 3 players because they have the highest Adventure score and Dooku is also the mechanic so he could be one of the more dangerous roles. Next up on the list was Xhin because he had holy water and could potentially make more. In terms of Adventure skill I would put Jo/Dooku near the top for their intelligence and craftiness last game (probably the only one I played for serious fun). chiefsonny, unless it's all an elaborate ruse, didn't seem very knowledgeable about zombie lore, but knows how to get around in general, so he's also on my list.

    I think Count Dooku should die this round because I have +50 roll attack bonus as Omega, I placed 2 attacks, Xhin placed another 2 and PN placed another one to bind. If he's smart, he'll try to escape. I don't think he knows Ghowilo is working under cover, but perhaps could be a double agent if he's not divulging pertinent information. I wanted to avoid killing him for as long as possible too, because he's a new player.

    I've sent Majora a total of maybe 2 messages over the past 2 days asking him if he was still playing. One through Notifications, but I'm not sure how regularly he checks it because the Notification number does not increment telling him that there's a new message since it overwrites the old message, so earlier today I sent him a message over the Wii U because I saw that he was quite entertained by MK8.

    You were on the LIVE FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE list because you're new along with Ghowilo and Lady Flare. But now that you're dead, we can be friends again. :)

    It was much more interesting to play as a human because you could make moves that made sense as a human would do it, but when you're put in the role of a zombie, you can do things, but not with as much thought because braaaaaaaaains. Need them, eat them. Om nom nom.

    It also took a few rounds and was a little slow because of the combat, but I specifically tossed cars from the road into Grocery and the Garden Store to flank from moving from the Garden Store door to the Grocery, allowing PN the option of moving in from the front while Omega enters from the side.

    At one point they were grouped up in these two locations so they both got cars in them.

    Also just so you're aware, there is only one door to the Grocery. Even though the Grocery lists multiple exits, they all use the same door and your character technically walks across the road to get to, say, the Garden Store or the Garage.

    This is how you guys died, in case you're wondering - I copied the post from the Grocery thread and removed the things that weren't directly relevant to your deaths:


    The entire Grocery erupts in battle!!! Before anyone has a chance to lift a finger, a knife-wielding zombie leaps through the air toward Count Dooku! He tries to tackle Dooku, but Dooku is able to stand his ground. Unfortunately, he isn't able to stop the zombie from slashing up his torso and mortally wounding him!

    Dooku, despite his severe wounds, manages to lift his pistol and shoot the propane tank hidden amongst the car debris! This, along with an adjacent gasoline container, causes a violent explosion on the East side of the building! Six regular zombies are consumed by the explosion, along with LLight the Omega zombie!

    What is left of the zombie crew storms the Grocery and attacks Dooku and Ghowilo! Ghowilo manages to evade the onslaught; Count Dooku is not so fortunate. Given the mortal wounds he had received just seconds prior, Dooku is ready to accept his fate. Satisfied with his accomplishment, he lays down, closes his eyes and accepts the inevitable as the zombies end him. Songs will be writ of your bravery!

    Eh, not to worry. Both sides have had a taste of good and bad luck in just these first couple rounds that I've been hosting. Since I'm able to see everything that's happening, it drives me crazy imagining all of the alternate scenarios that might have been. Some of the opposing rolls are less than five points apart.

    This is what transpired in the Grocery, for those who are curious:

    BURN BABY BURN

    Xhin moves quick and is able to grab a hold of Ghowilo before he can do anything; Xhin then leaps straight up and smashes Ghowilo into the ceiling! Ghowilo, with his previous head injury, is not able to withstand the force and is knocked unconscious. Xhin then has no difficulty swiping Ghowilo's chef knife and finishing him in a way too gruesome for words.

    LLight then moves in toward chiefsonny, bearing his teeth, but chiefsonny is able to knock LLight away momentarily, giving chiefsonny just enough time to take out his fertilizer bombs.... but not enough time to plant them! Count Dooku lunges toward chief and attacks him, knocking him off balance just as that dreaded knife-wielding zombie steps in and starts stabbing chiefsonny repeatedly all over his torso. LLight then moves in again and gnaws chiefsonny's arm off and then continues on toward his neck.

    Just then, Count Dooku takes the flamethrower he previously dropped as a human and douses chiefsonny in flames, along with LLight. Chiefsonny has not the energy to scream and silently slumps to the ground dead...

    However, the flames ignite the fertilizer bombs, as well as the other explosives and diesel fuel he was carrying, resulting in a massive explosion that sends flaming shrapnel, fuel and body parts in all directions! The homemade gunpowder that Count Dooku left behind also ignites and explodes! The force of the multi-explosion breaks open the ceiling into Jo Nathan's house above; furniture falls down into the Grocery, and Jo Nathan's house is now also drenched in flames (GEE THANKS GUYS). The entire building is burning to the ground and will not remain standing for long... but the explosion has ensured that there is nobody left alive to escape!

    Haaah well the important thing is that it was a mission success.

    I'm curious to know how move conflicts happen. Isn't there supposed to be a speed roll to determine which one goes first and if so, the first move is somehow always a bind/body block for the next move. This seems like a common occurrence, that's all I'm saying!

    I used speed rolls to determine in what order everyone's first attack went. Chiefsonny rolled a 2. Xhin rolled a 90-something which turned into a 100 after his hopper bonus. I did my best to keep things fair but I can only do so much when the RNG frowns upon the humans. That and those two were disgustingly outnumbered.

    Off topic, but these are things to do next Adventure game:
  • Get something that gives attack roll bonus (Veteran Bonus +15)
  • Get armor that gives defense bonus (Blood Dragon Armour +10)
  • Get armor that has limited use protection (Energy Shield: 3 use)

    Survivability seems to be up with this combination in addition to the tracking items I was able to put together in the most amazing space adventure ever. Even a small +5-10 on your roll makes a huge difference to the players without it, but now that I've posted this, maybe other players will start doing it more if they haven't already.

    Want:
  • Something to add additional actions, environment modification, traps, drones, autoattackers, etc.
  • Room movement blocking item

    Just so we're clear, hoppers can bypass barricades so if the door is locked, will you allow an alternate route work without explicitly saying it? Churches full of stained glass windows seem a bit fragile for words.

    Also I'm afraid of the sprinkler system and it being blessed with holy water.

    Barricades was intended to mean things like a toppled over bookshelf being used as cover. Regular zombies would just walk into it or around it, a hopper can climb over.

    Bypassing a door would require you to state how.

    Assuming Jo is sticking to my system which he has slightly deviated from already when he let zombies have flamethrowers but that might just be consistency with Xhin's "zombies can do anything they want" system.

    I wasn't entirely sure on the flamethrower myself. These are the reasons I allowed it without asking for your input:

    1) The building was already on fire and things were going to start exploding either way
    2) The humans were already dead before Dooku used the flamethrower on chief
    3) It just made things so much cooler

    That depends on the flamethrower since you've allowed zombies to fire guns. If the flamethrower has a nozzle to turn then probably no, but yeah like Jo Nathan said, it worked out anyways because he wasn't the only one trying to blow up the grocery store and it made sense for it to be destroyed for the second round it was on fire. It was just a matter of wording it.

    I like how this thread is the Adventure equivalent of the Mafia thread, yet people don't seem to use it for discussion or coordination. Most of it is done by PN OOG but I have no idea what everyone else is doing when we're not in the same room. I can only assume that they're only partially active, have little interest in what could be a more eventful game, or just downright refuse to play with other players for whatever reason. Everyone who was good at that are only recently dead or hosts now.

    Well end game is a probability because of the roll chance, it's hopeful to happen, but possible. Although in Adventure, 1 attack action with 1 zombie seems like it would yield the same results as 1 attack action with 44 zombies.
