halloween mafia the end

Posted November 13, 2012 by MajorasMask9

THE END

The town began to argue a case against Serpe, and ended on a decision to lynch. But before the town could even begin the lynching, Serpe tripped and fell apart. That's because Serpe was secretly a Skeleton!

And that's when they realized. The four of them--the four trick-or-treaters remaining--were all the good guys. There are no more villains among the town! Or are there?...

No, there aren't :).

1. Redack - Skeleton
2. Trever Leingod - Trick-or-Treater
3. Jo Nathan - Trick-or-Treater
4. Frustro - Skeleton
5. Feral - Trick-or-Treater
6. White Thunder - Trick-or-Treater
7. white lancer - Trick-or-Treater
8. CtR Black - Skeleton
9. hezekiah - Trick-or-Treater
10. Zanic - Trick-or-Treater
11. Serpe - Skeleton
12. Helius - Trick-or-Treater
13. chiefsonny - Trick-or-Treater
14. Xhin - Skeleton
15. The Bandit - Skeleton

THE TOWN ARE THE SUPERSTARS!

And so ends the Halloween mafia game, halfway into November. Yeano will calculate player points later. I'm going to proofread this post but will probably miss something that isn't obvious until immediately after I post it.

Huzzah! SO glad I actually went with my instincts there and didn't allow my doubts to interfere. Serpe played a pretty decent game and didn't leave me many reasons to suspect him (other than when I surmised there might be an inactive Skeleton), but the last couple of rounds made me almost certain of his guilt. Still had a bit of doubt that made me nervous, though. ;)

Pretty sure this is only the third game I've survived (and one of the first two was the first Star Wars game, which didn't even count for points). That, too, is cause for celebration. :D

Also, reading through these individual threads is cracking me up. And making me realize that I talk too much.

So, like, how did you determine which host would be nice and which one would be the asshole each night? I thought I had it figured out at the end - taking turns and alternating every two nights - and I was wrong.

Jo Nathan

Nice! I'm so glad we won despite my disinterest in this certain game. It was nice to actually not be on the bad side for once.

November 13, 2012
Zanic

And I send my Shoggoth to slime white lancer's house.

Gee, thanks, Frustro. :P

I want White Lancer Dead

and I'll steal white lancer's candy

Love you too, CtR. XD Voting to kill me AND steal my candy in the same night? You deserved that poision!

Also I love that the only person who actually chose to X-Ray me was a Skeleton and promptly tried to get me killed. :(

I'm a bit surprised that Helius got himself killed when he had a Boo Candy still to use. Seems like an inopportune time for a self-sacrifice.

Impressions on the game overall: it's really hard to tell how it was balance-wise. The Town got lucky that Redack's strategy backfired, as well as a little bit with the Frustro kill (I feel your pain on that one--it sucks getting called out as Mafia for saying something that you genuinely think is true) and that my push to kill JN in the first round didn't succeed. The X-Ray Candies were very helpful as well--we got lucky that only one of them wound up in the hands of Skeletons (although checking the same targets mitigated that advantage somewhat). I'd agree that there were probably too many of them floating around (and again, I'm surprised to see double silencings on consecutive nights).

The Skeletons not being able to communicate with one another was a major disadvantage to them IMO. We were still able to get decent reads on some people (CtR, Xhin, Serpe at the end) so not having the guilty-by-association help wasn't as damaging as I originally thought it would be. And not only did the Skeletons off one of their own, they also weren't able to coordinate for kills and even their effectiveness in the day round was limited. The best example of that is Day 3, where Bandit basically had to choose between lynching the innocent Thunder and going after the Guilty Xhin or CtR, and since he didn't know who was actually innocent or guilty he wound up tipping the balance against his teammate (granted, if Feral had returned before Bandit there's a decent chance he and I would have taken Xhin out anyway, since I also had two votes that round, but I think the idea stands).

Glad we got the win, disappointed I wasn't alive for it. I wanna know how annoyed the Skellies were when I survived their attack.

I also wanna know what plans have been made for next game.

I also wanna know player scores!

November 13, 2012
hezekiah

I agree there was quite a bit of luck for the town, especially at the beginning. I couldn't believe when chiefsonny gave me an out at the last minute on Day 1, and then Redack wound up dead the next morning.

November 13, 2012
Jo Nathan

The skeletons definitely had one hell of a challenge this game. I hope they still had fun at least... {:?}

November 13, 2012
Jo Nathan

I'm so glad I failed to kill you, Jo, and that you realized that it was an honest mistake and didn't try to kill me back. :)

What amazes me is that despite how well the game seemed to go for the Trick or Treaters for almost the whole time, it still felt like it was close at the end. We only made one mislynch the entire game, but because of Zanic's Invincibility making it so we couldn't take out the two players I felt were most likely guilty I felt like if we made just one more we'd still lose. Things would have gone so much smoother if Zanic hadn't told me about his Invincibility, heh.

Also, I have a burning question:

My rights as a woman are being disrespected.

Serpe, are you...female? Cause I've been referring to you as 'him' all this time and you never once corrected me

November 13, 2012
white lancer

Haha, that was a little humor on my part. You're still looking at all man here.

All on all, I found the game enjoyable. But I definitely think the Skeletons had a mountain of odds to overcome, between dumb mistakes (coughDurkcough), no communication and the X-Ray candies. I definitely got some serious debate practice by you at the end, lancer. :( Even though now I don't get to implement my plan.

Serpe

Gtx0 coin flip, where the person with the most trick-or-treater visitors called heads or tails. So basically it was entirely luck-based. Last round the coin never came back, though, so we were both jerks.

I totally think this wasn't the most balanced game ever, and shortly after it started I had a much better idea of how it could have been balanced better, but obviously it was too late to do that. Kind of disappointing, but oh well.

Good game everyone.

Good job Hosts.

You can always do that with the "Frosty the Snowman" Mafia game.

God, I can't believe I just said that.(facepalm)

Heh, I thought that might be humor, but it's tough to tell sometimes through text. Apparently no one got my joke about checking Bandit during that last day round :(

I definitely got some serious debate practice by you at the end, lancer.

;) I do tend to get into arguments/debates like that and keep hammering away. You definitely made some good points but by the end I was confident enough in my reading of you that I felt it was worth the risk to vote you out right then. Although I am interested in this plan of yours--I was trying to figure out exactly why you would be so desperate to prolong the game for at least one more day round.

Gtx0 coin flip, where the person with the most trick-or-treater visitors called heads or tails. So basically it was entirely luck-based. Last round the coin never came back, though, so we were both jerks.

I figured that it was probably completely random, so I really didn't give any thought at all to trying to figure out how you determined who got what candy. Although I was also operating under the assumption that you and Yeano at least determined the number of each candy that would be given out each night. I still had fun with the game and I looked forward to seeing the results of the Trick or Treating each night. Although, heh, I liked how JN used Serpe's lack of Trick or Treating as evidence of his guilt when 3/5ths of us didn't Trick or Treat that night.

November 13, 2012
white lancer

Ahhh that moment. The second Jo changed his voted based on me skipping candy that round, I was like "Crap, how did he know?!"

But my plan pretty much boiled down to creating reasonable doubt regarding Zanic. I was actually planning to kill White Thunder the next night and frame Zanic for when he and chief just "happened" to drop dead after refusing to fully vouch for his probable innocence. The invincibility we would have voted away from him to play it safe would have given me the chance to put that spin on the deaths, get away clean, and wrap up the game with either you or Jo.

November 13, 2012
Serpe

Interesting plan--I kinda like it. I'm not sure it would have worked (as I said before, it would have taken an X-Ray Candy result to change my vote from you to Zanic), but it would have been a good effort for sure.

I also found your move in declaring chief innocent (even though you hadn't even checked him!) interesting, and that was the real thing that had me second-guessing voting for you. Not really because confirming his innocence was a guarantee, but because I had been harping on investigating players who had investigated other players so doing that put you in jeopardy of being checked (so it seemed a risky play for a Skeleton) If I had followed my own advice (and I probably would have, had I known Helius was innocent) we would have had two Guilty verdicts that second to last night.

November 13, 2012
white lancer

That's a funny coincidence then. It was around that time that players without X-Ray candies were starting to come under scrutiny. I think it was Feral who suggested looking at myself and one other person. So when Thunder stole the X-Ray I was supposed to get (since stealing from me is apparently a Holloween pasttime -_-), I figured I could evade scrutiny by faking an X-Ray on chief, who I ironically felt was most likely to be a Skeleton. Doing that would have given him breathing room in case I died.

November 13, 2012
Serpe

Gee, thanks, Frustro. :P

You brought it on yourself. I mean, leaving your house bear on Halloween? That's just begging for it. Sadly though, my Shoggoth has passed away. Starvation. Funeral hours will be between 5 - 7 pm on Friday. Lawsuits will be filed against Yeano and MM9.

Eh, I'll be honest. I wasn't all that impressed with this game, what with how lopsided the advantages were. But the candies were a brilliant idea. And it was hilarious to see how eager all the Skeletons were (myself included~) to try to make each other the fall guy when they're all left to their own actions.

Idea for a Thanksgiving Game: Pilgrims vs Native Americans, give as much advantage to Pilgrims as Trick-or-Treaters had, and let history repeat itself.

November 13, 2012
Frustro

You can always do that with the "Frosty the Snowman" Mafia game.

Do it.

Or Santa and his elves. Certain Mafia members are elves that want to rebel, kill Santa and fly out into the real world and not be slaves anymore.

.... Bwhahahaha.

Yeah, I'm actually surprised how many people were refraining from trick or treating. That wasn't my sole basis for my vote, but it does make me feel a bit silly now.

Also, Frustro and FAW's ideas are awesome. Frustro's may be a tad controversial though.

As for plans to host the next game, anyone who wants to host (that's eligible) can just say so, and who exactly hosts can be settled after we get an idea of who's interested.

November 14, 2012
MajorasMask9

I had fun, even though I killed half my team. I imagine this type of game would be really boring for the town though.

November 14, 2012
The Bandit

Speaking as a Townie, I did have fun with this game. And here's a list of those eligible to host who haven't yet:

chiefsonny: 37
#85: 29
Shadowwalked: 27
Count Dooku: 23
Helius: 22
CtR Black: 21
White Thunder: 21
Black Yoshi: 20

They should have first option on whether they want to host.

November 14, 2012
white lancer

^ Although the order of those points might be changed with points from this game, and I assume that Feral will move up into host eligibility as well.

I don't wanna host this next game but maybe one of the next couple after that.

November 14, 2012
White Thunder

True. Although chief will stay on top regardless of how the points fall.

November 14, 2012
white lancer

Hey it's not out of the question for me to get 20 points this game...

November 14, 2012
White Thunder

So chief. The question that gets asked every game. Do you want to host next?

November 14, 2012
Yeano

I would have liked to host the next Reg ver. of Mafia, but I want to do it when I can give it my full time and attention.

I will be at Penn State on 11/17 and 11/24 and in Washington for a Skins game on 12/3. While I will be able to play in the next game, I won't be able to give it the time a Host needs to give to it.

Thanks for asking.

November 14, 2012
chiefsonny

Alright. So as I see it, there's a possible question about inactivity with potential hosts. #85, Shadow, Dooku, and Yoshi didn't play this last game (and a couple of them haven't played in multiple rounds). I'm sure a couple of them would make fine hosts, but I almost think that in order to be eligible to host one game you should be required to have played the previous one. My guess is that none of them probably want to host the next game anyway (Shadow's busy with Aliens, Dooku and Yoshi both have IRL responsibilities, #85 didn't seem very interested in his last couple of games), so maybe we could just move on to the next people on the list?

November 14, 2012
white lancer

If I manage gain the needed to points, I would like to try hosting. I have an idea I would like to try. (It will NOT be the Thanksgiving one which would be HIGHLY offensive to me the way Frustro said it) Might be able to Christmas theme it...

November 14, 2012
Feral

I don't think Frustro was making a serious suggestion. I think, as a skeleton, he was sympathizing with another group that got screwed over due to unfair advantages.

Also I think you will get your needed points easily, between winning and good play.

November 14, 2012
Jo Nathan

Some idea's for a Christmas Mafia if there is one.

Town:
Santa = Godfather
Frosty = Cop if used
Charlie Brown = Doc if used
Snoopy = Power Role
Townies:
Rudolf and the other Santa reindeer and Santa workshop helpers if needed

Mafia:
Ebenezer Scrooge = Godfather
Professor Hinkle = Power Role
The Grinch = Power Role
And what ever anybody can come up with for reg Mafia.

I only know the names of the ones I've heard my grandchildren talk about.(hehe)

November 14, 2012

Additional Mafia role for Christmas- Redack: You are the Redack, every night before Christmas you steal people's presents for your own amusement.

I'd never trust Charlie Brown as my doctor... He is the epitome of bad luck.

November 14, 2012

Well, Helius and CtR get a shot before we, if they wish it. If both turn it down, I will do it.

Chief, Scrooge is a PERFECT role for my idea(and for Redack in general). Hehe...

Oh, as far as Thanksgiving goes, I get a bit sensitive about it. I am of the Wanpamnoag Tribe, and a great-wharever grandson of the famed Tahsasquanto (or Squanto for short), the first indian to approach(and be betrayed by) the pilgrims.

^ That. Trust that whenever I say something appallingly offensive, I'm most likely joking/being sarcastic... most likely. Especially when my great-great grandfather was a Native American, Nezekai or Hesekai or something that sounds suspiciously Amish. And I'm loving the role names chiefsonny's coming up with. Especially the Scrooge bit since I'm such a Christmas Carol fanatic. Maybe some ghosts of time-specific identities would come into play? Or hell, even Tiny Tim. He gets to touch the hearts of the Mafia to refuse them a kill for one round, before immediately and painfully dying of some nondescript disease.

You can decide if I was kidding there or not.

November 14, 2012

Does Hesekai = Hezekiah? Cause that would be wierd. 8p

Tiny Tim

How could I forget Tiny Tim. Got to get him in there.

He gets to touch the hearts of the Mafia to refuse them a kill for one round, before immediately and painfully dying of some nondescript disease.

Love it.

And if the town wins, Frosty uses his magic hat to bring Tiny Tim back to life so he can get points for being alive at games end.

Great minds think alike{:P}

Illuminati Christmas

November 14, 2012
Serpe

Here's a couple more thoughts for the Christmas Mafia if there is one.

1.Ebenezer Scrooge because he's the Godfather will show up as "innocent" when checked out. Unless, Unless, he's outed "no pun intended" by Frosty. If Frosty during the night can find and enter old Scrooge's digs and wave his magic hat, then Ebenezer will show up guilty if checked out.

2. Now here's the draw back to that. One of the members of the Mafia has a flame thrower that will only hurt Frosty, by melting him. Will not work on anyone else. Now if our little frisky Snowman, enters the room that dude lives in. Well our Snowman becomes a pool of cold water.
