CtR Black

No sense in hiding anymore. I am the true Cop.

The first night, I investigated hezekiah. As we know, he was innocent.
The second night, I investigated Teddy-Son. As we know, he was truly the Godfather.
The third night, I investigated Zanic. At the time, he was innocent. As to whether he was taken in by the Masons or the Cult, I have no clue.
The fourth night, I investigated LLight. He is innocent.

In order to find out whether or not Zanic is innocent or not, I request that we have four people NO KILL so that I can conclude my investigations tonight.

I vote to not kill.

Very well, this is pretty much masons on a killing spree now. All they have to do is start recruiting. Cultists die if they recruit a mason and mason kills the cultist if they try recruiting them.

I vote no kill.

THE END

No one seemed to die last night, but seeing that they outnumbered the rest of the town, the Cultists rushed upon and seized the Masons, offering them up as a sacrifice. The town was now only populated by Cultists.

That whole 1 hour day round that happened in the middle of the night was so BS. I didn't even have a chance to defend a case for myself and against Roxas, which would have definitely been enough to make the masons think I wasn't a cultist (I assume that's why I was masoned in that round). But I digress.

GG cult.

April 15, 2012
MajorasMask9

Masons thought you were cult, Cult thought you were mason.

Ultimately, the Mason's choice that last night didn't matter. It was purely up to the Cult, either they'd win it by picking a Townie (LLight) or lose by picking a Mason (Zanic).

The Masons (and town) messed up in Day 5 by not making a kill. I don't agree with Yeano's decision to remove the 60% requirement for early ending (4/7 is not 60%).

April 15, 2012
hezekiah

Thank you. Well played game by everybody.

We didn't bother picking you, MM9, because you slipped up on Day 4 in your original reply with your vote for Teddy-Son when you said you were Mason. In regards to the LLight over Zanic move, I deliberated on the issue. I would have already thought LLight was your first target to recruit in the night, but at the same time I saw that the possibility of trying to trick us into taking Zanic was very likely, since LLight is viewed as a much more valuable player.

Good game, everybody!

April 15, 2012
`Roxas`

Yeah, I kind of figured the masons might think I was a cultist at first, though I thought the fact that CtR didn't react negatively to my claim meant he realized I was trying to convince the cult that I was a mason when I wasn't (especially since I just posted about how the only way the cult could win would be if they never attempted to convert a mason). Kind of sucks how there's no way to communicate with people individually, I wanted to tell CtR what I was doing so bad during Day 4 :(.

E: @ Roxas: I wasn't a mason at that point. The masons were CtR and Zanic, and I made that fake mason claim/coverup to make the cult think I was the mason so they specifically wouldn't target me.

Though it backfired in the end since it made the masons think I was cult :(

April 15, 2012
MajorasMask9

So no comments about the town's misplay re: not making a kill during Day 5?

I'll sign up for the next game, assuming 1) No Cult/Masons and 2) No poptart.

April 15, 2012
hezekiah

It was a great move for the Masons and yourself, in all honesty. We wholeheartedly believed you were a Mason and had the decision to make between LLight and Zanic. Like I said, I thought LLight would have already been a Mason (or targeted in the night, at least). Zanic played well enough to, in my opinion, to float through until the final round. I left the choice of Zanic vs LLight entirely up to Shadow (as you will now be able to see in the Cult Thread).

April 15, 2012
`Roxas`

WOoooO go cultists!

2) No poptart.

Hey now, poptart is excellent at functioning as a continuation of my will.

I left the choice of Zanic vs LLight entirely up to Shadow (as you will now be able to see in the Cult Thread).

I think we did rather well at logicking the hell out of this match, Roxas. Let us drink to cultist activities!

April 15, 2012
Shadowwalked

Dammit. I suppose it didn't matter who we picked. I almost picked Roxas, but I don't think it would have made a difference. CtR was suspicious of you Roxas haha.

Anyway, great game cultists. Just wish you would've tried to recruit me there -.-

April 15, 2012
`Roxas`

Is it because of my claim of Cop Day 5? Other than Nights Two through Four, that is.

`Roxas`

Ultimately, the Mason's choice that last night didn't matter. It was purely up to the Cult, either they'd win it by picking a Townie (LLight) or lose by picking a Mason (Zanic).

It actually did. If they had killed a Cultist (i.e. picked ANYONE other than Majora), the game would have been 3-3 and the Cult probably would have tried to recruit Zanic. Recruiting Majora was understandable but a huge mistake, as was voting no kill on Day 5.

April 15, 2012
white lancer

And I definitely thought Roxas made himself pretty obvious with his Cop claim, although I thought he was fishy before that (and before I had any inside information) when he was just kinda "meh, whatever" about Knukles' claim to be Cop. Majora had to point out Knukles' mistake twice before Roxas kinda reluctantly switched his vote, which seemed weird to me at the time and definitely didn't gel with his later claim to be the Cop. Plus, there was ZERO reason for the real Cop to claim at that point, since it would probably result in him getting recruited by the Cult/losing that night.

Add that to the fact that the Masons couldn't trust that the Cop hadn't been recruited already, and there really was a lot to be suspicious of Roxas that round. I think that post actually worked really well because it caused the townies to panic and vote No Kill, but it was a huge risk and would have backfired if anyone had stopped to think about it. Good job reading that situation and realizing that you could probably push it to a NK quickly, though, because the way it went down probably won you the game.

Man. You guys were dissing me in the cult thread. My only pro was that Masons wouldn't go for me XD
I feel unloved.

And my bad Lancer. CtR shouldn't have let me vote, but he sort of led me to the suspicion on Majora. I was originally thinking of going after Roxas. Not blaming him or anything. It was all confusing since that day went by so fast.

April 15, 2012

But CtR did an amazing job as Mason. Next time we should focus on the cult more.

Actually, idk. It's hard because cult reproduce, so it takes a while to kill them and all the while mafia are killing too.

April 15, 2012
Zanic

^^^ This was the dead giveaway to me that Roxas was cult, previous suspicions aside.

The way the day round ended when it reached 4 votes was kind of a silly call IMO. Really pissed me off when I was woken up at 2AM and decided to check the thread, just to find out that the day round already started and finished while I was sleeping despite waking up at an ungodly hour for something unrelated. Yeano already knows how mad I was though :).

April 15, 2012
MajorasMask9

And props to the cult. They didn't vote for a single mason.

Although, I'm going to toot my own horn. Totally called Knukles being mafia on the third day.

Sorry about that bud, just wasn't entirely sure on you. As I stated, I saw you as a wild card player who could potentially benefit the Cult. {:P}

April 15, 2012
`Roxas`

Yeah I know. Plus this is my first game, so it's hard to tell how I play I guess.

And I don't think we ever intended to go for Llight. I didn't even notice he was still in the game because I was gone for a sporting event the entire fast day. I came back confused.

April 15, 2012
Zanic

I would have had better statistics if I wasn't a townie the entire game. If only you'd have recruited me as a mason earlier, you would have won.

Oh well, at least I was on the winning team.

April 15, 2012
LLight

And props to the cult. They didn't vote for a single mason.

April 15, 2012
`Roxas`

I do find it kind of hilarious that no one in the game trusted Majora. Also, the last post in the Mason thread is priceless.

It didn't even occur to me that the Masons would be so dead-set that Majora was in the Cult.

April 15, 2012
white lancer

Agreed on both.

April 15, 2012
`Roxas`

I'm still reading over the cult thread. It sounds fun, I didn't think that cop would last that long and be used like that. I was playing entirely from a townie perspective.

April 15, 2012
LLight

Oh shut up Lancer. I was confused. And I hadn't even seen the post where Majora said he was mason. CtR told me.

April 15, 2012

That was my plan after being inducted into the Cult.

Reply 1334379978 in the Cult thread: "Alright, I'm going to talk to pop to see what he is before we vote. No sense risking a suicide, right?"

So now we can go outside the game and straight-up ask people -- IN PRIVATE -- what roles they have?

April 15, 2012
hezekiah

Well there's nothing stopping you from doing that, but there's the off chance that the other person is a role you'd want to kill. Do you think admitting that should be grounds for a host kill?

April 15, 2012
LLight

I don't think that's necessarily fair. I could've asked Lancer who was a mafia after he died, but I didn't. He wouldn't have answered me anyway.

April 15, 2012
Zanic

I completely, 100% think that.

April 15, 2012
hezekiah

Well there's nothing stopping you from doing that, but there's the off chance that the other person is a role you'd want to kill.

I think it's sort of implied that you shouldn't do that. I don't want to because it takes away fun from the game.

April 15, 2012
Zanic

So now we can go outside the game and straight-up ask people -- IN PRIVATE -- what roles they have?

I didn't see any mention that it was against the rules. Just that I couldn't show screen shots of what role I was, or copy and paste shit from threads.

Well there's nothing stopping you from doing that, but there's the off chance that the other person is a role you'd want to kill.

Which is what makes it fun. Pop and I lie to each other depending on what roles we have. If I was a mafia, I'd tell him I was a townie. If he was a mafia, he'd tell me he was a townie.

I don't think that's necessarily fair. I could've asked Lancer who was a mafia after he died, but I didn't. He wouldn't have answered me anyway.

You're asking someone something after they've already died, and no longer part of the game. That would be cheating in my book. Since pop was still in the game, he would have an incentive to lie to me or just flat out refuse to answer, and probably would have done so if he wasn't in a good mood when I asked him.

I completely, 100% think that.

I think that its 100% incapable of tracking and or making rules against, unless you start monitoring my phone to see who I'm texting. I play by the rules written in the forum, but if I see something unmentioned in the rules that can give me an advantage, I'm going to use it.

April 15, 2012
Shadowwalked

Key word is "admitting", which just adds another dimension to this game because I know people are going to do it anyways, but yeah I agree, it'll take away the fun in the game. What kind of game would this be if the a mafioso or cultist revealed everyone on their team?

April 15, 2012
LLight

First of all I had fun here, but I am upset that I still am confused about this game and throughout the entire game I had no clue on who to kill. I just followed what Knuckles told me I should I do and I did what he told me.

I don't know if I will be able to play in the next game because by the time I get home tonight the signups might be done with so have fun guys.

April 15, 2012
Teddy-Son

Naa. Yeano usually keeps the register open for a couple days.

And this was fun, although I'm not sure about the whole cult/mason aspect. Maybe we should alter their abilities in some way. Like have them recruit every other night? Idk, I'm just coming up with ways to make the game easier to understand to new people.

April 15, 2012
Zanic

In most mafia games on other forums there are ways to talk to people in private, generally via the forum's private messaging system. Privately talking to people outside the game isn't and shouldn't be considered breaking a rule, since you're never sure if the person you're talking to is lying to benefit themselves or genuinely telling the truth. The only thing that would really be against the rules would be if someone died and gave a living player information (like, if white lancer PM'd me saying he tried to recruit Teddy).

That said the lack of any private messaging on gtx0 has proven frustrating in all three games that have been played. Not game-breaking, just frustrating.

April 15, 2012
MajorasMask9

Every game I've ever played has forbidden direct player-to-player contact. Either you say it to the group or not at all.

April 15, 2012
hezekiah

I'm not a fan of private communication other than in Mafia/Mason/Cult threads and the like. I must admit that I've never played online anywhere else, though.

And Zanic and I did talk a bit about the game (we're related and were together for Easter). I told him that I was a Cultist. XD

This. I used to play Mafia on wc3, which had a private chat function that could be used to form alliances in game. Playing without it limits the game, and just makes the whole ordeal a guessing game.

Every game I've ever played has forbidden direct player-to-player contact. Either you say it to the group or not at all.

What did you use to play Mafia on? And even then, how do you expect to prevent people who know each other from talking? Its an impossible rule to enforce.

And Zanic and I did talk a bit about the game (we're related and were together for Easter). I told him that I was a Cultist. XD

Which reinforces my point. Player to player chat will continue to happen. There is no logical way to prevent it, and no possible way to know if its going on.
