Day IX

Scene: The town lake

Once again as he had been doing, Black Yoshi the Fisherman was fishing for items. He had already caught the magnifying glass and the gun, and this time was aiming for the GPS Locator. Unknown to the town, everyone had been planted with a GPS bug prior to the first day, probably by Count Dooku with their own taxpayer money.

The fisherman baited his hook, hoping that the fish that ate the GPS Tracker would be attracted to it. He threw it in.. and a few seconds later he felt tension on the end of the line. Cursing his repeated lack of sleep, Black Yoshi reeled it in with all of his strength.

When the fish started flopping on his boat, Black Yoshi cut it open and pulled out the GPS Locator. "All right," he said, "There's not much battery power left, so let's set it to look at Zanic." Before the GPS Locator died, Black Yoshi saw that Zanic was on his way to chiefsonny's room, and nearly there.

Dropping everything, Black Yoshi leapt out of his boat and swam to shore. Then he ran as fast as he could to chiefsonny's room.

In chiefsonny's room, he was contemplating who to bet on with his Bookie Genie. Finally, he decided on #85, and handed some money over. The genie disappeared in a wisp of smoke.

At that moment, his door slammed open. "I'm here for you, chiefsonny!" said Zanic, as he moved his trusty Mafia Gun around the room. chiefsonny's military training took over and he dove behind a leather armchair right as Zanic fired his first shot.

While chiefsonny was reaching around to try to find some kind of weapon, Zanic kicked the chair out of the way. He pointed his gun at chiefsonny--*BLAM*

At that moment, Black Yoshi ran into the room and shot Zanic's gun out of his hand, then pointed it at Zanic.

"You'll never take me alive!" screamed Zanic, as he fled the building. "Wake up the townies!" Black Yoshi told chiefsonny as he ran after Zanic.

As chiefsonny was waking up White Thunder, MajorasMask9, and #85 (who needed a full pot of coffee), Black Yoshi ran after Zanic. Zanic led him on a crazy chase through the town. Black Yoshi tripped over Dragon in the Shadows' rotting ass, which hadn't been buried properly for some reason, and his Magnifying Glass shattered in his pocket.

Finally, Zanic fled into the reconstructed Clock Tower. Locking the door behind him, he raced up the stairs to where he knew it would be -- the Sniper Gun that the Mafia had stolen from Shadowwalked, the Sniper and used on Trever Leingod.

Maybe not the best shot in the world at close range, but Zanic was determined to live. He had the high ground against Black Yoshi as he broke down another door---*BLAM*

Zanic, panting, looked over at his now-dead foe, the vigilante gun thrown out of his hand. But what's this? Slowly, incredulously, Black Yoshi got up again, and threw a piece of his broken magnifying glass at Zanic. Before he had time to react, the magnifying glass shard went through his heart and Zanic, the Godfather died.

Black Yoshi walked out of the clock tower, where the remaining townies were assembled. "The godfather is dead!"

The town cheered, praised Black Yoshi as a hero, and gave him one final task to do for the town:

Crate of Alcohol -- 100% chance of catching it -- When used on a target, they party like there's no tomorrow.

Epilogue: Bermuda

Count Dooku cackled. "I knew that investing the town's money in a clone was a good idea!" He dove off a diving board in his paradise house into a pool of gold coins his government assistants had built for him.

As he landed in it though, he began sinking down far farther than he should have. "Curse bureaucratic inefficiency!" he cried as he suffocated beneath his own wealth.

You did a marvelous job, Xhin! And what a way to end this chapter of Mafia.

Excellent job, Xhin, with both games I might add. I admit that first game with the transformation mechanic was a bit unorthodox for most of us, but you picked up on that pretty quickly, restarted the game and gave us one hell of a game here.

I'll admit as well that the first time I saw I was the Fisherman I was a bit incredulous -- "What the hell is this?! Fisherman?!" But when I saw the items I would be fishing for, I realized it was a key role in this game, and should definitely be used in the future.

Thanks again for a hell of a game, Xhin. Excellent job as host.

Let me also say it was a great ending.

Also to my sometimes team mate MM9. Nothing was personal. You are one of the best players I know and I've learned a lot watching you. I thought that by staying on you, you might get pissed and loose your cool. Bad thinking on my part.{:P}

Same to you #85. I knew that if you were Mafia, you could pull something off. Tried the same thing with you.

Playing the way I did, I had nothing to lose. Bad role, but tried to make the best of it.

And everyone else played a great game. Had a lot of fun.

P.S. Black Yoshi. My new hero.{:D}

may suck at being on the Mafia side, but I still lasted longer than Xhin normally does. (look)

Oh god it wasn't supposed to end like that! Drowned in the town's... err... my wealth :(

that's what I call an impeachment...Right between the eyes. :D

It's all good! I'm sorry I keep thinking you're part of some huge mafia conspiracy plot-twist that will turn the game upside down. I think this is the second time I've done that!

MajorasMask9

Can someone please tell me they caught the hint I dropped with the video on Day Three OTHER THAN Redack?

Dragon in the Shadows

Seeing as I had people voting for me, I CARE.

August 7, 2012
`Roxas`

To clarify, the reason I didn't go for #85 that last night was because he started to get suspicious of Thunder which was exactly what I wanted. So I couldn't really go for Yoshi because of his vest and I felt like I could get MM9 on my side. Knew I wasn't going to win, but I lasted much longer than I thought I would.

Zanic

I may suck at being on the Mafia side, but I still lasted longer than Xhin normally does.

You didn't suck, though. You and hezy (and Zanic once he got back) did a very creditable job of blending into the Town and wound up getting screwed over by stuff outside of your control (the roleclaim forcing you to masquerade as other roles, with hezy's role being testable and Dragon's role being hinted at by Roxas). Oh, and Roxas, when I see that clip (and I didn't even click on it for a while after you posted it because I ignore Youtube videos out of habit now) I don't think 'spy.' I think 'badass.' ;)

Y'all missed the party in the Dead Thread--pushed that thing to record levels of posts!

Err, I pointed it out. The town ignored me. Like they mostly ignored me on Hez until I forced them :P

August 7, 2012
Count Dooku

Awww, thanks Chief! :D

Honestly, the Fisherman has to be the best role here, aside from the almost indetectable Godfather -- it's like being every role in the game at once (albeit limited). Please, whomever hosts the next Mafia game, bring the Fisherman back.

Black Yoshi

Once again, I'm the victim of bullshit. Stuck with one teammate completely gone, another who had to leave for nearly a week, I was forced to claim a testable role, and apparently Count had this big target on me for no discernible reason. I repeat, bullshit.

August 7, 2012
hezekiah

"BOOYAH! I single handedly nailed 9!"

Ahahahaha. You funny boy, yes?

August 7, 2012
hezekiah

apparently Count had this big target on me for no discernible reason.

Dooku had a reason--he simply didn't fall for the killing Trever trick like most of the rest of us did. He didn't believe that the Mafia would choose not to kill anyone so he counted that as proof of your guilt, and as it turns out, he was right.

But yeah, a rough game for the Mafia this time around. Two inactive members and few vanilla Townies to hide among made it a tough break for you.

August 7, 2012
white lancer

Also, chief, why didn't you gamble every night? There wasn't any drawback for being wrong and you would have had at least a chance for a free point even if you just threw out a random name.

The Mafia thread is fun to read, especially for the first half of the game with the {troll} posts after each reply. The Spy was rendered pretty useless pretty quickly--good strategy on hezy's part.

August 7, 2012
white lancer

don't like the {troll} so I went with (suprised). My hope was that the spy would see it and think he just missed something good. Unfortunetly he didn't spy on me. (cry)

Dragon in the Shadows

Ok so what I don't get is why my Mafia teammates thought "Redack & 85 had an argument about who was in charge of the mafia" makes any sense!

But yeah, a rough game for the Mafia this time around. Two inactive members and few vanilla Townies to hide among made it a tough break for you.

Yea, in the past I've asked for more power roles but now I see why you need a fair amount of townies.

I'd also like to see the cop or doctor (or both) take a break from a game or two. That combo is getting a little boring to see because the cop knows he can safely reveal right away (which is what keeps happening ever since the game where LLight played cop terribly, didn't reveal anything to us and then left us a cryptic hint pointing in the wrong direction!).

August 7, 2012
Redack

I'd also like to see the cop or doctor (or both) take a break from a game or two

I agree to a point. The problem I see is that since the Mafia know who they are, and the town would be blind.

I would suggest if we took that route, don't have a doctor and give the Cop a bullet proof vest with a limited times he could use it. Say 3 times.

That way, he could wait maybe 3 night rounds, reveal, report his finding and after that he would need the vest. We could even make it only 2 uses if need be.

August 7, 2012
chiefsonny

That'd work for me, it's the "super combo" I want to break.

August 7, 2012
Redack

because the cop knows he can safely reveal right away

You're welcome. :D

I think if we take EITHER the Cop OR the Doc out for a game each and see how that goes, that would be pretty cool. We take away the DocCop Combo, and we get to see how they fair on their own.

August 7, 2012
`Roxas`

Two days in a row I tried to vote for Zanic and was overruled -.- thanks a lot guys.

Oh, and Redack, props for that ploy. You had the whole town suspicious of the real cop the entire game.

August 7, 2012
White Thunder

Oh, and Redack, props for that ploy

He sure had me fooled. (suprised)

August 7, 2012
chiefsonny

I was never totally fooled by the cop ploy(even if I pretended to in the end). I guess I am just a skeptic and can't imagine anybody putting up a sucsessfull fight against Redack to Lord over something. When Dragon brought it back up, I was even more certain.

August 7, 2012
Feral

Haha, I never believed the Cop thing either (and said as much the very next day) but it did annoyingly prevent me from crossing #85 off my list of 'remote possibilities.' I think I said sometime during the game that Redack must be just grinning in the afterlife knowing all the chaos he caused with his parting shot. XD

August 7, 2012
white lancer

Had I been on the other side of the game, I highly doubt that I'd've believed it either, especially as the game wore on. Not like Redack had much to lose by trying it, however.

August 7, 2012
hezekiah

You're welcome

Oh don't worry Roxas, your name springs to mind every time I think about it!

Oh, and Redack, props for that ploy. You had the whole town suspicious of the real cop the entire game.

I really didn't expect people to believe it as much as they did, was quite interesting to see people still considering it at the end. My "best case" expectations were that #85 might've reacted a bit more to it but my realistic expectation was that it'd just cause one or two to doubt him.

I guess I am just a skeptic and can't imagine anybody putting up a sucsessfull fight against Redack to Lord over something. When Dragon brought it back up, I was even more certain.

I never provided the subject of the "argument". I simply said "there was an argument, now he hates me". Dragon's little story about a fight for control over the mafia was just meh, it's not something I'd do (and I don't know #85 but I don't imagine he'd do so either).

was just trying to reinforce the claim. I guess I should have tried to implicate some one else. But this was the first time I was on the mafia side. Die and learn, I guess.

Dragon in the Shadows

By the way, I'm really sorry to my fellow mafia for my absence. We might've had a better chance if all of us were there.

feel too bad about it. We did pretty well until the role reveal happened.
