There was a discussion about restarting the game which initially I was opposed to because frankly I'm fed up of how often these games restart... But it was pointed put that the "half-restart" still caused some issues because it gave an advantage to a couple of people as they could guess what roles others didn't get. Ex-Mafia members would know their fellow Ex-Mafia aren't the cop for example.

I'm really confused. I thought we were in Day1 after the role switch. What Redack said shouldn't apply now if the roles are staying the same...

Also, if we are doing this, why are we doing Night 0 *again*? This game is like a week behind as is, can't we just jump into Day 1 for fuck's sake, especially since Day1 is just a 3 day formality as it is?

I think it would be best to do a complete reset (Night 0, new roles) just to make everything right. It may be slow, but in the end it would save a lot of trouble.

The problem with the half-reset that was done is that only the Mafia and Paramedic's roles were switched (and presumably four Townies.) This means that the Cop, Governor, and Serial Killer are the same as they were before the reset. That causes two problems:

1)The people who were previously the Paramedic or Mafia have a smaller chance of becoming a Power Role in the redone game, and no chance of becoming the Cop/Governor/Serial Killer
2)Players who were originally Mafia will know definitively that their past members are most likely vanilla townies, and that they are definitely not the Cop/Governor/Serial Killer.

Point 2 isn't the most gamebreaking thing, but it could be used to the Town's advantage, and could also be used to locate the mafia easier (three people would be cleared of being the Serial Killer.) Point 1 just makes it less fair from those player's perspective since they didn't have a fair chance to play as a power role.

Either way this isn't really a big deal and one last reset should fix everything!

Well here's what happened:

Helius realised that a couple roles held used were suspended.

He edited the roles and just swapped those that needed swapping. This had the aide effect of opening up the mafia and doctor roles threads I believe.

A "half reset" happened where mafia, doctor and townie roles all got mixed up.

Then we carried on.

But as has been noted, the cop, serial killer and whatever else didn't change. So anyone that saw into those two threads knows at least four people that aren't those two roles. Also ex-mafia that are now townies also know that ex-mafia aren't those roles. Mafia that stayed mafia have a higher chance of finding the doctor through random selection plus know their ex-allies aren't those other roles.

It's too many advantages to some players is the general point being put forward. The only way to completely fix it is to re-roll everyone.

I must be misinterpreting what Cas means by "same roles." Does she mean that the roles of the game are the same or that everyone will have the same role? My role hasn't changed so that wasn't clear to me.

If no one's individual roles are changing, then I don't understand why we're restarting. If they are, then nvm.

My understanding is we're keeping the game will use the same roles, but they'll be randomly re-assigned to people.

I probably should've just said she didn't explain it at all since that's more accurate.

What happened before was that only a fraction of the roles were reassigned while the Governor, Cop, and Serial Killer stayed the same. Now every role is being reset.
