Day 2

Last night was a night full joy for the Trick-or-Treaters around town. Candy was given and fun was had. Except for

one individual, that is. Redack's corpse was found lying on the ground outside of his house. Judging by his

appearance, it was very clear that he was a Skeleton. Creepy!

Heh, that's quite a fortunate turn of events.

Clearly there was at least one absent player, as the night round lasted for the full 24 hours.

Nothing's happened that would change my mind about Jo.

hezekiah

Heh. If the others want to lynch me, at least I'll die with the satisfaction of having stalled it for one round. And as I said before, the town will thank me for it later.

My biggest regret will be missing out on making more visits to that incredibly friendly person handing out the trick or treat candy.

Announcement at the top still says Night 1.

October 28, 2012
White Thunder

Huh. I wonder why they did that. Interesting.

Am I the only one that doesn't think Jo is suspicious?

The Bandit

Bandit, the Skeletons had no way of knowing he was one of them. My guess is that they killed him to prevent him from reealing the results of his x-ray.

Hez, we already know Serpe is inactive as usual. A request has been made to host kill him if he doesn't reply by the end of this day round.

October 28, 2012
Feral

I'm not a fan of host killing him. All you're doing by killing him is hurting whatever team he's on, and it's not their fault he never plays.

Absolutely, ban him from future games. But a host kill isn't fair.

October 28, 2012
The Bandit

Okay, that was pretty much the best night result ever. It neatly solves the problem of whether we should trust Redack's X-Ray result next round (assuming he had an X-Ray Candy at all) and gives us a little more breathing room.

As for Jo, I'm still a little suspicious of him but I'm going to hold off on voting for him for now. Like I said, we have some breathing room now so it's not super urgent to take anyone out right now. I'm more willing to talk things out, see where people stand at this point, than just to jump right into a vote. In particular, if you had an X-Ray Candy and have a reading on a Skeleton, now would be a good time to share it.

October 28, 2012
white lancer

I don't know why everybody is all over Jo...

October 28, 2012
Feral

Serpe's absence is kinda detrimental to the game as a whole, seeing how we gotta keep waiting the full 24-hours every Night to get our delicious/possibly deadly candy. I won't go on a tirade for his host-killing, but I've already voiced my discontent with inactive members.

Not picking up any blatant "I AM SO SUSPICIOUS!" moments from anyone, but something I did note was that Bandit all but called out Redack's ploy the last Round, so I'm going out on a limb and assuming he's probably innocent from that alone. Now if only the Skeletons had paid attention to that... {troll}

October 28, 2012
Frustro

Obviously, Frustro is a Skeleton out to get Bandit killed. Made that a little obvious, dude!

October 28, 2012

Obviously, Frustro is a Skeleton out to get Bandit killed. Made that a little obvious, dude!

{duck}!!!!!!!!-- No just kidding.

I was actually getting worked up over your quick correction of Bandit's "wonder why they did that" comment (or at least, it was a remark that I'd take a suspicious otherwise) and jumped to stop it before it avalanched into a "HE'S A SKELETON!!" mobbing. ... But in hindsight, defending someone's innocence can be just as big a derp moment as voicing strong suspicions in this Game.

Don't worry, if I'm a shambling corpse bent on eating your flesh, I'll try to be more quiet about it, for courtesy's sake.

October 28, 2012
Frustro

I'm actually pretty curious as to how skeletons vote now... they vote for the night kill in their own individual threads? It must be hard coming to a consensus when you don't even know your own team members. It's obvious Redack's blunder was his own undoing, and the skeletons who thought he was a danger became the skeletons hiding out in his closet {pump} And we know there are many skeletons in Redack's closet...

I'm not a fan of host killing him. All you're doing by killing him is hurting whatever team he's on, and it's not their fault he never plays.

I agree, it's a bummer to either team, but one of the main problems about inactive players is that they cannot incriminate themselves. We cannot deduce whether he is a trick or treater, or a skeleton, based on absolutely nothing. In normal Mafia, the Mafiosos won't even bother to night-kill an inactive player because they pose no threat compared to active ones, and townies have no idea if they are Mafia or not. Unless he actually starts posting, he is not much use to his team anyway. Really, it's unfair either way, because in one way you lose an extra (though completely inactive) living team member, or you have to put up with extra unneeded baggage.

October 28, 2012
Trever Leingod

one of the main problems about inactive players is that they cannot incriminate themselves.

And that's a perfectly legitimate strategy for someone actually playing. Not playing, even not playing every game, isn't the same as breaking a rule imo. I understand the complaints, and I'm not suggesting that Serpe is playing but just flying under the radar, but if you guys want him dead, then feel free to vote for him in the day round. Any other action could potentially kill the game.

October 28, 2012
The Bandit

So then why doesn't everybody just stay inactive?

October 28, 2012
hezekiah

Well, I'm a skeleton you guys, so you can vote for me.

October 28, 2012
Xhin
Sky's the limit

Anyway, it seems like the problem this game is that no one can do anything unless they get a candy of x-ray vision (1/7 chance). There's no real motivation for the town to keep from dying because the "mafia" are just as clueless as they are, as Redack demonstrated. The town has an advantage, then, because their numbers are greater slightly, and because they can't cancel out each others' votes without knowing that other people are doing it.

Long story short, if the town constantly no kills, then statistically the skeletons will destroy themselves in the long run, until they reach 1 in number and the town would have to vote then.

Incidentally, if the town kills a lot of townies, then the chance of a skeleton hitting a skeleton increases, and the town wins that way.

There's virtually no way to lose this game, unless by some miraculous chance two skeletons get two x-ray candies and use them on each other.

October 28, 2012
Xhin
Sky's the limit

_= Jeez, you guys move so fast...

I can't say that I'm surprised by Redack's kill. Mentioning the candy set off alarms since he had nothing to gain from doing so.

Also, I don't find that inactivity is a very helpful strategy to go under the radar, as the calls for my host-killing show. As someone pointed out previously, voting based on that almost cost the Townies the game last time.

October 28, 2012
Serpe

Yeah, almost... What jackass decided to kill you off anyway?

October 28, 2012
Jo Nathan

Haha, well it just is what it is. If I end up becoming a hindrance to the voting process, no hard feelings if anybody deems a host kill necessary. I'll make sure it doesn't come to that.

That issue aside, I'd like to confirm that I am the Ninja for this round. Attempt to gun me down as you will.

October 28, 2012
Serpe

Oh good, he can post! {:P} Don't kill him then.

Long story short, if the town constantly no kills, then statistically the skeletons will destroy themselves in the long run, until they reach 1 in number and the town would have to vote then. One of the loopholes that makes itself apparent in just about every experimental version of the game. The one-time power detail is also a crazy dynamic to the game. As was said last round, if you got an X-ray candy and use it to reveal your target's role in the next round, there is no point for the skeletons to kill you next night because you no longer have the power and it doesn't guarantee your alignment either way.

October 29, 2012
Trever Leingod

This game is so different. I kinda like it anyway.

October 29, 2012
White Thunder

The Skeltons will swarm ANYBODY who reveals themselves as a T or Ter. Better to kill a confirmed innocent then take a shot and maybe kill another Skeleton.

Obviously, one Skeleton wouldn't reveal another.

My apologies, Serpe. Didn't know where you were.

Anyway, I see no reason for Xhin to lie about being a Skeleton, so I believe his sob story and quitting.

October 29, 2012

It was a joke dude. I always vote for myself at some point. Please let me trick or treat again :(

Geez, Feral, you should know better than to follow Xhin on one of his witch hunts. {:P}

Just so you know, my area is supposed to be slammed by Hurricane Sandy this week, and based on the thread about it, so will Feral's and Majora's. So there is a chance for some power-outage-related inactivity coming up.

the Skeletons have to vote for a kill at night?

If not, we could have a "Stand Off" if we do what's suggested above.

We don't kill in the Day Round

They don't kill in the Night Round.

And we're still playing Halloween Mafia on Dec. 2Oth instead of watching reruns of Frosty the Snowman.

Sorry about the all yellow post. Only meant for one line to be yellow.

the Skeletons have to vote for a kill at night?

October 29, 2012

The Skeletons are in a bit of a bind at this point, I agree. I don't think that means they're statistically going to wind up taking themselves out--the fewer Skeletons there are, the less chance they'll have at taking one of their own out and the more chance they'll have at having some sort of consensus. And they could have been very close to winning this game if they had taken someone else out--Redack was a poor choice for them to target since there was suspicion on him, but if they had hit a non-Skeleton and we had believed whatever info Redack gave us next round, we would have been in trouble.

I kinda like the format of this game as well. It's different, and it's hard to say how well-balanced it is. But the same thing that helps us (the fact that the Skeletons can't work together well) also hurts us, because that was our primary way of figuring out who the Mafia are. We're forced to adapt our strategies and I haven't figured out how exactly I want to play this one--I have a few suspicions, and normally I might throw them out there, but I also am holding out hope that the Skeletons might target one or more of them.

October 29, 2012
white lancer

Now that Serpe's here, let's talk about who we should murder.

October 29, 2012
The Bandit

Hmmmm..... I've been suspecting something for a while but I can't be totally certain...... I might as well address it now. Lancer, is your costume a Firefly reference?

October 30, 2012
Jo Nathan

Ah never mind, I zoomed in on your icon and could read "Firefly", so yeah. That's pretty cool.

Anyway, there are two individuals who I am considering for my vote, but I want to see what others are thinking. I hope that happens soon because the round ends this evening.

October 30, 2012
Jo Nathan

If we are gonna lynch today, we better start voting. We only have until 8:00 tonight GT time.

October 30, 2012
Feral

Well, someone has to get things started. I am still bugged by Frsutro's joke directing the Skeleton's attention to Bandit, and that is the best I have.

October 30, 2012
Feral

Hehe, thanks, JN! Figured I'd make it so a fan of the show would catch the reference while keeping it from being too 'in your face' to non-fans.

Feral, I've noticed that you seem to be eager to jump on a number of different bandwagons, and I'm not sure what to make of it. In a normal Mafia game that would sorta scream 'suspicious,' but here it's harder to tell since a Skeleton wouldn't necessarily know whether that person is on their side or not.

October 30, 2012

Do the Skeletons have to vote for a kill at night?

I was hoping this question would be answered b4 the end of this Day Round.

Any Host Home?(look)

A No Kill wouldn't be terrible. I'm kind of leaning towards Feral as well, though, so not sure whether to vote or not.

There is a bandwagon after Frustro?

Honestly, the only bandwagon I noticed was the one against Jo, and I straight up set I disagreed with that.

October 30, 2012
Feral

That one vote bandwagon sure is intense. {boo}

October 31, 2012
Yeano

There are a couple people I'm fairly certain are innocent but I will refrain from identifying them for now.

My previous comment toward Frustro was merely a joke, but I do feel like he's mildly suspicious. And I feel like that's more than I can say about anyone else at this point.

October 31, 2012
Jo Nathan

I still am standing by my vote for Jo, and don't have much at all in the way of suspicions against Frustro.

Round ends in 20 minutes. I'll have to decide if I think Frustro is worth killing, or if I should do what chief and Jo did yesterday and prevent all kills.

October 31, 2012
hezekiah

I don't see any reasonable leads at this point in time, so I'm going to go with Feral for this round.
