main thread night 5 watch out for that eyeball

Posted November 8, 2012 by Yeano

Oh no! Oh no! Oh no! Oh no!

This sounds familiar....

Well, in the night, Feral heard some creaking in his room. Then he heard a rap at his chamber door. "Who is it?!" He cried!

A chattering of bones replied, "You shall live... NEVERMORE!"

Snuffed out was the Trick or Treater known as Feral.

What a shock that Feral died. It's almost like they're Sheep, not Skeletons.

Well, my claim of Feral was proven. (facepalm)

November 8, 2012
Helius

Which mean JN is confirmed innocent.

White Thunder

JN was already confirmed innocent (as was Feral--not enough Skeleton members left for all 3 or 4 to be lying). Just sayin' ;)

Anyway, I'm not going to cast a vote right now, and it might actually be a good idea to back off and play less aggressively for now. In fact, if CtR hadn't posted that hit list I'd say that was definitely the best strategy for us to take, as having 2 Skeletons left leaves them with probably the best chances of tying and not killing anyone (and certainly a much better chance than they would have with 1 left). Unfortunately, leaving them with two for a little while as we hope to gather information via X-Ray Candy is less effective now, but it could still be beneficial to back off in case one of the players on CtR's list is a Skeleton themselves (or even if one of the Skeletons thinks someone on the list is guilty). That would be potentially devastating to the Skeletons.

Again, any new information would be greatly appreciated.

Mhm, it was blatantly obvious for a while that Feral was innocent. And hooray for me, last night was my night to use my Night 3 X-Ray candy to help analyze the other candy claimants.

I used mine to vet chief, since he can't speak for himself this round. He's innocent and so is hezekiah by extension.

I feel that White Thunder is innocent as well. Reason 1 being that his near death in Night 3 had almost no evidence backing it. Reason 2 being that used his candy on Feral. Why lie about using a candy you didn't have that you used on a player you weren't threatened by? There were players *much* more suspect than Feral at the time he could have scanned to use as a scapegoat, as enemy players are apt to do.

The Helius/Zanic affair leaves me feeling curious. Because if they were on opposing sides (Skeleton Helius and Trick-or-Treater Zanic or vice-versa), Zanic may have been on the chopping block as a scapegoat or as a guilty Skeleton had Helius not backpedaled. Perhaps he had second thoughts about using Zanic as bait for either purpose. Perhaps I'm being too speculative.

But enough of my mouth words, I'll wait for everyone else's input.

Serpe

The only people I'm 100% certain are innocent would be myself and hez (if hez were one of the remaining two, Serpe or chief would have exposed it). So let's look at the remaining roster:

White Thunder
white lancer
Zanic
Serpe
Helius
chiefsonny
The Bandit

Out of those, which two seem the most likely to be skeletons?

It is theoretically possible Serpe and chiefsonny are the remaining two but I think those odds are very slim. I think chief is pretty much confirmed innocent, and if Serpe were a skel he would not need to be confirming more night targets (and narrowing down our lynch candidates) at this point with hez and myself still around. I won't rule Serpe out completely but I find him unlikely to be a skel.

I'm inclined to believe lancer and Helius are innocent on account of CtR's hit list, but it seemed like CtR may not have known all of his teammates yet so maybe he accidentally targeted one. Actually, let's look at his last post:

I honestly cant tell if lancer's a skeleton or not. I dont understand his reasoning. kinda wanna scratch him off my list ;)

I put jo and feral on that list because you guys said they were innocent. I'm going off the same info as the rest of you, as are the other skellies

He didn't put me on the list, but his second paragraph makes it seem like he did? I think he messed up there.

Anyway, there are a number of individuals I'm considering for my vote but I want to see what you guys have to say.

Gee lancer, it seems like you were thinking from the Skeleton's point of view when you made that comment. [Where did the troll face go!?? I need it right now!]

Touché. :P

Yes, and that can only be helpful to us. Either the Skeletons are going to have to leave a confirmed innocent around (you) while they eliminate other possible suspects (me and Helius), or they're going to have to stray off of the list and risk tying the vote.

November 8, 2012
white lancer

Our suspect list seems to be getting quite a bit smaller. Unfortunately I don't have any strong vibes about any of them.

chiefsonny does seem to be the least likely to be a Skeleton, as he's only guilty if both him and Serpe are guilty. We can't technically rule him out, but voting him out is the worst move we can make at this point (if we did want to test him, Serpe would be the better choice anyway).

Zanic is iffy. I know Helius was suspicious of him and it's tough to be sure entirely--some of his posts have seemed a little off, but I've been considering him more likely than not to be innocent since he was so quick to volunteer to be checked in the first round. That would be a risky play for a Skeleton, and I'm not sure Zanic is the sort of player to take such a risk, especially so early in the game.

I've been a little iffy on White Thunder for some time, mostly because it seemed like the perfect cover for him to declare Feral innocent when we already had someone else to vouch for him, but I must admit most of his posts haven't been as suspicious to me. I think he's more likely innocent than not.

Serpe is a possibility, and more of a possibility than chief. If he were a Skeleton, he probably wouldn't need to confirm chief's innocence, but it's very possible a Skeleton would do something like that just to make himself seem more innocent. I'm not ruling him out, but I wouldn't vote for him just yet.

At one point I was almost convinced Bandit was a Skeleton, but he said something that seemed rather un-Skeletony to me and I'd taken him off my radar for a while. He's back on my radar again, not by virtue of anything he's said, but because no one else left is screaming 'suspicious' to me so they're all about on an even playing field.

Helius is a possibility as well. As Jo pointed out, just because he's on CtR's hit list doesn't mean he's innocent, and I'm wary of him because of the stunt he pulled with Zanic. Another point in his favor is that he was the first to confirm Feral's innocence, but again that could have been him trying to gain the trust of the Town. In my mind, he's probably the most likely Skeleton. HOWEVER, since he is on CtR's hit list, it's probably better just to let the Skeletons kill him when it gets to his time than it is to vote him off ourselves. If he's innocent, the Skeletons are doing our work for us by narrowing down our list of suspects. If he's guilty, they'll probably tie the votes and no one will be killed that night.

All in all, no one on the short list really jumps out to me. I'm a little more suspicious of Helius than anyone else, but I don't think I'll be casting a vote this round.

November 8, 2012
white lancer

I will gladly vote for myself. If you think I am a suspicious player...

In fact, I would encourage all of you to vote for me because you'll soon find out that I am innocent.

November 8, 2012
Helius

Bah, these sort of self-sacrifice plays are never helpful IMO. If you're actually innocent, voting you out only hurts us.

November 8, 2012
white lancer

I feel like if Zanic were Mafia again he would be refusing to play. {:P}

I was considering voting for Bandit.

November 8, 2012
Jo Nathan

This is the second time Helius has voted for himself, and it's annoying me.

November 8, 2012
The Bandit

Agreed, but I'm personally still gonna hold off on voting. Helius's desire to offer himself up makes me wonder whether he's confident that the Town can afford his sacrifice (7-2 are good odds for us) or he's certain nobody will take him up on the offer.

November 9, 2012
Serpe

Eh eh. Not too sold on any of these options. If I had to guess, I would say Bandit and maybe either Serpe or Helius. But certainly not sure at all.

November 9, 2012
White Thunder

Well I guess I need to get all my input in today, but I don't have a whole lot to say. I've had pretty damn shitty luck with my candies.

I don't see a better option than Helius right now.

Vote hezy for next host, he pledges no more candies like this one.

November 9, 2012
hezekiah

Helius's desire to offer himself up makes me wonder whether he's confident that the Town can afford his sacrifice (7-2 are good odds for us) or he's certain nobody will take him up on the offer.

The second half of that statement is what makes me almost want to just go ahead and do it. There's no benefit for an actual Townie to offer themselves up like this (7-2 are good odds, but not if we throw away innocent Townies left and right), but a Skeleton might benefit from that bit of confusion if we decided not to pull the trigger ('hey, he's offering himself up to be killed! He must not be guilty!'). Note that it happened with Xhin earlier. Heck, with Helius it's even possible that he's throwing himself under the bus so that there's no possibility that the last Skeleton could tie the votes.

For me, it mostly comes down to whether or not I actually want to vote anyone out this round. Aside from Helius, no one is really ringing any alarm bells in my head, and in the absence of strong suspicions it *might* be better to hold out for more X-Ray Candy info. I'm willing to listen to anyone else's suspicions--my analysis wasn't meant to be the be-all and end-all of people's behaviors in this game.

November 9, 2012
white lancer

Is there anything the town would like from me? It really does feel like I've been pretty useless this game. And speaking of useless, the PACandy won't even matter 'cuz I'll be dead.

chiefsonny for last admin standing

November 9, 2012
hezekiah

I'm throwing myself underneath the bus because technically, if I die, there is less on the hitlist. Everyone can move on to other targets. I would also caution that those who jumped on the train to kill me who haven't been verified be checked out.

November 9, 2012
Helius

Must be a slow news day...o_o

Since you said you wanted to do a little more hezy, would you mind explaining why you're voting for Helius? I had a few other people in mind, but I'm saving my vote until I hear what others have to say (I noticed Zanic hasn't posted this round yet).

November 9, 2012
Serpe\

I'm here Serpe. I noticed that you've mentioned me twice now.

I'm inclined to go for Helius. I might be biased because he framed me last round and I didn't really understand that move by him. His willingness to sacrifice himself is also sketchy.

November 9, 2012
Zanic

Alright, so I guess we're voting for Helius. I'm fine with that--he was the most suspicious person to me already and him throwing himself under the bus only makes him more suspicious IMO.

Just a head's up for everyone: I'm going to be gone this weekend (should be back Sunday night), but I should be back before the next day round ends.

November 10, 2012

Alas, poor Helius...

I knew him as a Trick o' Treater... I bid thee well.

November 10, 2012
Helius

Barry Alvarez for governor!

My suspicions of Helius are basically for the same reasons as other people, so there's not a whole lot of stuff to say about that. I'm not attached to my choice of him, but it seems as reasonable as any other option right now.

oh yeah, I did reach out to Jo about swapping some info, but haven't gotten any response... :-/ Wish I had realized earlier that there was no risk in us working together.

The town picked up a huge pumpkin and smashed it over Helius's head, hoping he was a skeleton. When his head fell onto the ground and his brains and blood and stuff was everywhere, people realized it wasn't so. Poor town, watching that eyeball rolling toward them.

Helius was a Trick-or-Treater.
