minigame 1 day 4 a most apooling night

Posted May 5, 2014 by MajorasMask9

It was 11:30pm. Most of the passengers had already gone to their rooms for the night, but white lancer, hezekiah, and Speed Bike Pro found themselves in the Casino during the later hours. hezekiah sat at a table, perplexed by a glass case with a 9 of spades card inside of it. Speed Bike Pro was playing the slot machines, somehow getting triple 7s every time. And white lancer sat at the now abandoned Blackjack table, silently reading a book to himself.

"Jackpot again!" Speed Bike Pro said in excitement, his pants bulging from all the coins he had been stuffing in his pockets. "I'm gonna need to grab a bucket for all this moolah!" He snuck behind the front counter at the Casino entrance and crouched down, looking to see if there were any nearby buckets.

Suddenly and unexpectedly the lights shut off...

The sound of a door being slammed open was heard, and rushing footprints got louder and louder. Speed Bike Pro stayed down below the counter, out of sight, hoping that whatever was happening wouldn't involve him. white lancer stood up in shock, but couldn't see. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard, followed by white lancer's scream of despair: "now I'll never know the ending to my book!" hezekiah, blinded by the darkness, frantically felt along the walls for the lightswitch, but it was no use. Instead, he found the door, and ran out of the room, fleeing the scene to search for the ship's Helmsman and Sailor.

As white lancer lay on the floor in agony, he heard words being muttered from behind the counter where Speed Bike Pro was hiding. "Merry Christmas... Speed Bike Pro..." the cold voice said slowly.

"But it's not Chris-"*BANG*

white lancer struggled to keep his eyes opened... His vision would have blurred if he could see. But it was no use... white lancer passed out on the Casino floor.

Thirty minutes later, Helmsman Majora came running to the Casino with hezekiah following behind. He hit the light switch, and immediately saw the dead body..

Speed Bike Pro, the Townie was found dead at the front of the Casino, a puddle of blood beneath where his head was resting.

"I thought you said white lancer was shot?" Majora said to hezekiah, confused, as there was no sign of white lancer in the Casino.

"Yeah, he was. Where is he?" hezekiah responded.

Suddenly the Casino door flung open.

"Pardon me, gentlemen, I seem to have forgotten my book."

white lancer, perfectly healthy--to hezekiah's surprise--walked over to the table he had been sitting at and picked up his book. "Good day, gentlemen" he said, walking back out of the Casino to his room.

"Man, that white lancer is one cool character..." Majora said with a smile, his cheeks turning red. Majora and hezekiah walked out of the Casino, preparing for whatever may happen in the next day.

The next day, Sailor Apollo gathered everyone to the ship's outdoor pool, where Helmsman Majora was waiting.

"As you may remember from yesterday, today is the FIRST EVER annual S.S. Gigantic pool party!" Apollo said to the remaining passengers. "As you can see, the pool is now perfectly clean! You'd never know there was a double murder here just two nights ago! Haha!" Majora chimed in from the side of the pool, "We know these last few nights have been pretty appalling... Or should I say... APOOLing... But we hope you all have an enjoyable afternoon!" nutmeg96 walked up to Majora and shook his head disapprovingly.

The passengers got into the pool and decided to play one of the most popular pool games on the S.S. Gigantic: "Vote for someone to lynch."

nutmeg94** I'm sorry for getting your number wrong :(...

Also, as much as we hate to do this, Apollo and I have decided to host-kill Vandy, who has so far only posted once in the Day 1 thread. Vandy was a Mafioso.

Lol tbh. I think we may be fucked.

    Life's path is never straight.

So is white lancer semi innocent then now?

    May 5, 2014
    Rapunzel

He might be...or me might be Mafia and simply has been saved by the Doctor.

    Black Yoshi

A small victory as it it still 9-6.

Cop results when I get home :)

    I'm hoping you have some good news for us, we can't afford another mislynch {:?}

    May 6, 2014
    Lightvayne

    Ah that's true~
And is Count claiming cop or saying the cop should speak up now?

    May 6, 2014
    Rapunzel

Alright, let's get the ball rolling here.

    Cop results from yours truly:

Night 0 - I attempted to investigate Chiefsonny, but got Hooker'd.

Night 1 - Investigated The Bandit. He was Innocent.

Night 2 - Investigated Xhin. He is GUILTY

Night 3 - Investigated Supermod Kyon. He is Innocent

Granted, we've got a godfather hanging around in here.

    ---

With that said, I would like to propose an aggressive end-game strategy, as follows.

    1. We lynch Xhin during the day round. This will confirm my cop claim.

    Ratio: 9 - 5 - 1

    2. We select a vig target (our vig doesn't seem to be playing ball though) based on whatever we can scrounge from past rounds. We have a decent chance of hitting a Mafia (finally).

    3. The doctor protects me this night round. I will likely be hookered again.

    4. During the day round, we do a MASS ROLECLAIM.

WHY DOOKU THAT SEEMS LIKE A BAD I-

    Hush I'm getting there.

We have only two townies left.

    We have TWO TOWNIES LEFT.

This means that the Mafia will have to try counterclaiming legitimate roles. At which point it becomes a process of elimination (if the real one dies, kill the fake one).

With a little luck, we'll box the mafia into a corner and give them a good clobbering.

The night after the mass roleclaim, I know what you're thinking. We'll lose two town members because of the lovers!

Not so! Assuming they still have their bulletproof vest, the lovers can tell the doctor which lover to protect, while the other uses their vest. But won't that guarantee we lose the doctor? Well, not if the doctor actually protects himself instead. Mafia will have to guess correctly who is unprotected.

Fact is, because we have so many town aligned power roles still alive this is the perfect time for a mass roleclaim.

But what if I'm a Mafia and this is all a big lie, a big play, to end the game?

Well, the numbers aren't there for it. If I'm lying and we lynch Xhin tonight the ratio is:

    8 - 6 - 1

Even -if- the Mafia manage to kill the lovers, the Vig will certainly kill me for my false claim.

The next day round begins with:

    Ratio: 6 - 5 - 1

Point is, Mafia are going to take a hit either today or tonight no matter what. They can't cinch the game up thanks to that host kill.

    May 6, 2014
    Count Dooku

I'm disappointed that I didn't receive a message last night.

    May 6, 2014
    hezekiah

If no one refutes your cop claim then I say we should vote for Xhin this round. And I wouldn't be opposed to a mass claim tomorrow either.

    May 6, 2014
    Rapunzel

Just keep a mind to the facts if a counterclaim comes (not sure what the Mafia, other than Xhin, would gain from revealing another of their members).

If Vandy hadn't been host killed, I could absolutely be doing this in a ploy to make you mislynch, at which point the mafia would kill the lovers and it'd be game over.

But the math simply doesn't support a strategy like that. There's really no way this goes down (other than ignoring my claim, lynching an innocent, and then the vig killing another innocent, and the mafia killing the lovers) that ends the game.

    May 6, 2014
    Count Dooku

    I think if this goes the way you think it will, then it will be a close win us. {:P}

Really hoping you are right on this one....

    Lightvayne

    Xhinteresting...

    May 6, 2014
    Black Yoshi

Okay yeah that makes sense! And I agree with Black Yoshi

    May 6, 2014
    Rapunzel

While I agree that as of right now Dooku's proposal is the best approach for us to take, I'd still ask that we not rush into it. Rounds are short enough, I'd still like for us to have more discussion and give as much as possible for our power roles to go off of.

    1) Dooku may be lying, either as mafia (see item 2) or the Prosecutor (see item 3)

    2) If the mafia knows the identities of the Vigilante and a Lover, the game will end tonight (since, I believe, the Prosecutor doesn't count towards the ratio)

    3) This could be close to his last opportunity to get his target (apparently Xhin) lynched and win himself the game.

    May 6, 2014
    hezekiah

Guys, I really want to play this game. I finally have some time opened up, and I've been doing some work behind the scenes. I'm the traitor, so when the naughty whisperer contacted me we had a long chat about our strategy. I probably won't get any points for selling out my own team, but I mostly just want to play this game for as long as possible since I miss it :(

If you guys don't lynch me tonight, I've got a pretty good idea of who two of the mafia are, even though they're playing a tight game and were paranoid about revealing themselves.

    - Out Of Game (OOG) communication IS NOT ALLOWED in this game. You will be penalized if you are found to do so.

It's technically in-game because he contacted me first. I didn't realize we couldn't talk back.

Didn't Black Yoshi claim to be the prosecutor the other day though? I guess he could be lying to help the real prosecutor but what would be the point?

    May 6, 2014
    Rapunzel

Just making a statement in regard to a concern with Xhin talking OOG, seeing as OOG talk was disallowed.

Given the current state of the game I feel it would be too harsh to issue an in-game penalty if a rule was broken. If there was indeed rule-breaking OOG talk going on during the game, it will be looked into and result in a post-game penalty (likely a reduction of Player Points.) I'd just request that if there is any OOG communication happening (via Notifications, Skype, texting, whatever) that if would stop for the remainder of the game.

That said, the round will continue as normal :).

Indeed, I could be lying. But I addressed that.

Your point 2 is invalid. I did the math without factoring in the Prosecutor for the town.

    Town: 9 players

    Mafia 6 players

    IF I'M LYING:

    Xhin dies (-1 Town)

I die to Vig (-1 Mafia)

Mafia Possibly Kill Lovers (-2 Town)

    New Ratio:

    Town: 6 Players

    Mafia: 5 Players

    ---

    If I'm telling the truth:

    Xhin dies (-1 Mafia)

I am confirmed, so Vig targets someone and could hit a mafia.

Best outcome? -2 Mafia, -0 town with a lucky vest/doctor

Worst outcome? Xhin dies, Vig miskills, Mafia hit lovers, same ratio as the "Dooku is lying" scenario.

    ---

If you guys don't lynch me tonight, I've got a pretty good idea of who two of the mafia are, even though they're playing a tight game and were paranoid about revealing themselves.

This is the absolute WORST thing we could do.

Traitor or not, Xhin counts toward the ratio of Mafia to town.

If we DO NOT KILL Xhin, the Mafia can possibly kill the lovers. Coupled with a miskill by the Vig, and it is game over.

If we want any hope of winning this game, Xhin has to die.

    May 6, 2014
    Count Dooku

Oh for gods sake Hezekiah, I told you I could handle my own. Well at least this confirms *my* suspicions.

I'm looking at this as a sad attempt at casting suspicion on someone we're 90% sure is safe.

Fortunately, hezekiah's loyalty can be determined when we roleclaim. Doctor can tell us exactly who they protected.

    May 6, 2014
    Count Dooku

Yes, he did. However, as has been said in the past, there's no real upside for the "real" Journalist counterclaiming. Being known as the Journalist means that everybody else has far less reason to act on anything you say.

    May 6, 2014
    hezekiah

As I had implied in my Point 2 by including knowing the Vigilante's identity, the mafia could win by Hookering the Vigilante.

    May 6, 2014
    hezekiah

Err... interesting. I didn't factor the hooker into that.

However, I think if the mafia knew who the vig was they'd have killed them.

And really, Xhin could be the hooker for all we know. Traitor is awfully convenient.

    May 6, 2014
    Count Dooku

Wouldn't put it past him to lie given what else he's posted this round, but claiming a different mafia role could only possibly be helpful to his team if he doesn't get lynched today. And the way things are going, I don't think he'll make it to the night.

    May 6, 2014
    hezekiah

How typical--someone tried to kill me on Night 3. -_-

I find Dooku lying to be pretty unlikely. This would be a pretty risky play by a Mafia member when they're pretty far from playing desperately right now (and Dooku himself wasn't under any real scrutiny). Not only has Dooku given us a clear target in Xhin to help determine his innocence/guilt, he's also risking a counterclaim if he is lying. I'll grant that it's not a sure thing and the whole Lovers/Vig thing could be happening with the Prophet around, but it seems unlikely that the Mafia would hit both of those, figure out the clues, AND decide not to kill either of them for maybe a slight increase in the chance of a risky play like this one working. Also, Xhin kind of confessed to being the Traitor in the post above, so...

I do think a roleclaim is 100% the best option and was about to suggest that myself when I saw that we just lost another vanilla Townie. I'm fine with waiting until tomorrow for that, though, since we've got a confessed Traitor to deal with this round.

    May 6, 2014
    white lancer

Well Xhin confessed so I guess there's not really much else to do but....

I have a really bad feeling about claiming with the lovers in play at least.

    May 6, 2014
    EvilGuy0613

My only concern with a mass roleclaim is, as Hez says, the Hooker can really screw it up by clocking the roles essential to it (vig and doctor) while the mafia kill off the power roles.

Assuming Dooku's claim is truthful, then we'll see what role Xhin turns up as. If it's the hooker then role-claiming seems like a good idea to me (we'll lose a couple of roles but we'll also narrow down the list of potential mafia).

I'm not going to vote because I want to draw out the round and keep people talking, plus it seems certain that Xhin will die now so it doesn't require my vote.

    May 6, 2014
    Moonray

Mafia isn't going to fake a cop claim at this stage. Xhin has to die.

    May 6, 2014
    Bubba

There are several reasons one could be skeptical of Dooku's claim, but nobody has counter-claimed cop yet, and, considering this game is supposed to have no OoG communication, I really doubt the mafia know precisely who the vigilante and lovers are.

If Dooku is guilty and the mafia do know or guess the identities of the vig and lovers, then it's game over. Even worse (and more likely imo) is if Dooku is the prosecutor, in which case a vig kill on him would not hurt the mafia. However, Dooku is probably the cop, and if he is, I think a mass role claim will practically win it for the town next round.

Also, Xhin, isn't the traitor supposed to know the identities of three mafia members? Because you only claimed to know two. It seems like you slipped up in a fake role claim of traitor, but that sure doesn't make you innocent.

My apologies for the lack of my full attention/updating - I've been preparing for my study abroad trip and it's been much more of a time-consuming pain than expected. I'll be leaving tomorrow night, so I won't be around for the next few days probably (not very much if at all).
