Well, well, well, it's that time of the year again.

When that obese dude with the white beard and his fat wife and those "little people" with those pointy ears camp out at the North Pole with those smelly little reindeer and make toys for all the little rug rats.

You ever wonder why a old couple like that lives in the North Pole instead of nice warm diggs in Bermuda?

And to all the people living in this wretched little town, I hope the "little helpers" come down with dysentery and can't make any toys.

And by the way if any of you freeloaders see Bob Cratchit tell him he's fired for not showing up for work yesterday.

Bah, humbug.

November 24, 2012
Helius

Yes, Chief can troll. You don't know how perfect I thought it was when he randomly received that role. Chief can troll the head off anybody if he wants to. Lucky he doesn't often.

As far as the "Voodoo" style role goes, just remember that it has to be a Christmas related noun and not a player's name or role.

November 24, 2012
Feral

Speaking of which, two players are now silenced. Thanks for reminding me, Majora! {:P}

November 24, 2012
Feral

I've looked through the thread so far and found no connections among the players who have talked this round for the jinxed word.

November 24, 2012
`Roxas`

White Thunder and chief are the two who have been silenced. Both of them would have said a word that Santa checks a list for, antonym for bad. (hehe)

November 24, 2012
`Roxas`

Well, more so mean than bad... You guys get what I'm saying though, right? We can't say "----" without being silenced!

(Funny, how oddly similar this is to the beginning of KH2 when nobody in Twilight Town can say "photo.")

November 24, 2012
`Roxas`

Actually quite brilliant of you, Ghost of Christmas Future, choosing that specific word. Makes me wonder if you Humbugs planned for ol' Scrooge to say it or not, probably did based on how soon he said it.

November 24, 2012
`Roxas`

Planting words... hmmm. Creative, but this just means the Humbugs are going to focus all the attention on chief. It makes it a lot harder to narrow down the suspects.

November 24, 2012
Helius

It does indeed, and the lack of speaking doesn't help. I'd say other than chief, one or two of the Humbugs has spoke, while the others are keeping quiet.

What's the matter with misfits
That's where we fit in!

We're not daffy and dilly
Don't go 'round willy nilly
Seems to us kinda silly
That we don't fit in!

And chiefsonny, I have one thing to say to you: MERRY CHRISTMAS, UNCA SCROOGE!

November 25, 2012
Trever Leingod

Grinch is a role and can not be a silencing word. Context does not matter.

November 25, 2012
Feral

Oh, and Chief is known to be Mafia, so why would he say the word that he knows would silence him?

November 25, 2012
Feral

So, I'm guessing nobody used an X-Ray last night? I'm thinking if you do, reveal the results no matter what they are. Also I'm assuming the Grinch shows up innocent but that would be a ---- find as well.

No one would have had the chance to use an X-Ray Candy yet, because the first one was given out last night (also, I blanked out the word Thunder said that presumably got him silenced). And I'm a little torn on whether innocent verdicts should be revealed. The advantage to the X-Ray Specs is that anyone could have them (as opposed to a Cop, who can be taken out), but as long as the Grinch is in the game we don't want to give him/her free targets by revealing innocent verdicts. I'd say that anyone who gets a guilty verdict should stand forward immediately, but innocent verdicts aren't likely to be very helpful until later in the game/the Grinch is dead.

IMO Santa should focus on giving out the X-Ray Specs--the only time I would give out Healing Elixirs is to Tiny Tim (if you somehow find out who he is) and to yourself if possible. Finding information is going to be much more helpful than keeping people alive (in the same way that the Doctor is mainly only useful in order to keep the Cop alive).

Also, why is the Ghost of Christmas Future on Scrooge's side? Wasn't he involved in getting Scrooge to change his ways? :P

November 25, 2012
white lancer

Oh, and Chief is known to be Mafia, so why would he say the word that he knows would silence him?

---- is the only word that two different people had said when you told us two people had already been silenced, and where it makes sense is to avoid slipping up and giving the identity of a Humbug away.

November 25, 2012
`Roxas`

Or he could have just forgotten. It's a pretty common word and I kept wanting to say it myself even knowing it was probably the cursed word.

November 25, 2012

November 25, 2012

That was sure nice of you, Jo Nathan. (crs)

November 25, 2012
Helius

I need to clarify something about the jynxed word, since it was clarified in the humbug thread.

If the word happens to be PART of a role, people saying it in a player or role name will NOT be silenced. Any other use will.

For instance, if the word was "lady", and Xhin said "Castrael is a classy lady", he would be silenced. However, if he said "I think Castrael is the Voodoo Lady", he would not be.

This is to prevent the Ghost from boobytrapping a non-jynxable phrase.

November 25, 2012
Feral

In addition, a third player has been silenced.

November 25, 2012
Feral

Helius... it wasn't you, was it?

November 25, 2012
Jo Nathan

XD I feel loved.

Hrm. So, someone else was silenced?

November 25, 2012
Castrael

Well, I do commend thee for your sacrifice this round, Helius, to confirm my suspicions.

Now, with what, five or six of us having replied and not been silenced, what course of action shall we take?

November 25, 2012
`Roxas`

I just think that that particular words seemed rather... obscure to find so quickly. I mean, at 1:52pm you claimed you had no idea what the word was, and at 1:55pm you managed to not only find the word, but managed to write up and post a reply that came up with a subtle way to mention what the word is without actually saying it.

It just seems kind of fishy, ya know??

November 25, 2012
MajorasMask9

I wasn't silenced. And if I was, and I made a mistake... I'm blaming Feral. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

November 25, 2012
Helius

It's a different word... maybe?

November 25, 2012
Helius

I just think that that particular words seemed rather... obscure to find so quickly. It just seems kind of fishy, ya know??

As I have already said, at first glance through the thread, I saw no connection among the replies. Then I noticed that nice had been said a couple times. Obviously that is not the case.

And I understand how it can be seen as fishy, but it was a mistake.

It's a different word... maybe?

A different word, indeed. Three people have been silenced. We're safe if the word is part of somebody's role, and we say the entire role, but not if we say just the one word.

chief wasn't silenced, we know that. He's feigning silence behind my first route of thinking. However, Thunder is silenced. As are Frustro (whom I didn't notice said a word that Thunder previously said before news of the first two silenced victims broke) and Trever.

They've all said the holiday. I have too, but in reference to the Ghost of Christmas Future, which is why I wouldn't be silenced by it.

November 25, 2012
`Roxas`

So basically the word is [December 25th's holiday].

November 25, 2012
MajorasMask9

Unless you can find a connection between Thunder, Frustro and Trever, or any other three players who have spoken, yes.

November 25, 2012
`Roxas`

Unless you can find another connection between Thunder, Frustro and Trever, or any other three players who have spoken, yes.

November 25, 2012
`Roxas`

Trever's been silenced, I thinks.

We just need to be careful. They can very well mess with our heads. (shifty)

November 25, 2012
Castrael

Yeah, I feel like Frustro would have had some more entertaining things to say by now, so I think it's safe to say he's silenced.

I'd have to double-check but I think there's at least a couple people who've yet to post at all.

November 25, 2012
Jo Nathan

Dooku hasn't posted. CtR Black hasn't. and also, hezekiah hasn't posted yet, in this thread, either.

and that makes three so far.

November 25, 2012
Castrael

and three have been silenced. So, that's just a general idea I have thought of.

November 25, 2012

Let's just murder someone.

November 25, 2012
The Bandit

Who though? Mr.Smartass?

November 25, 2012
Castrael

No, I don't want to murder myself.

I don't see too many advantages to Roxas misleading the town to try and silence more people on the first day. But, maybe he just wanted to be clever. I'd kill him.

November 25, 2012
The Bandit

I completely forgot about Yeano! He too ain't talking

November 25, 2012
Castrael

I think Roxas could be playing with us though. I mean, I'd say we murder the one who can't keep quiet. :P Then, that way we can limit the players and figure out who the.... person is.

That's an idea tho.

November 25, 2012
Castrael

Yeano is not a player. {;)}

November 25, 2012
Feral

(shifty)

I knew that xD

November 25, 2012
Castrael

If you think we should lynch Roxas, then no hard feelings right, Bandit?

November 25, 2012
Castrael

Are you volunteering, Bandit? (hehe)

It might be in our best interest though (because we have 11 villagers) to take a stab in the dark and kill off someone who hasn't spoken. I understand its the holiday weekend and all, but at least it would help speed up the game.

Traditionally, we have voted no kill on the First Day, but it might be time to do something different.

@Feral

I think Castrael's confusion comes from having you and Yeano listed in the village.

November 25, 2012
Helius

Also I would caution us from considering those who are silent as villagers.

It was a tactic I suggested in a previous game when I was Mafia to silence one of our own members because it would legitimize their position within the town. As well, in this game, its a good reason for them not to speak... the less they speak, the less we know about their intentions.

Another option is a role claim because the Humbugs will have to blend in and thus confuse the Grinch on who to kill. It increases the chances that the Humbugs get targeted by the Grinch.

November 25, 2012
Helius

I think Castrael's confusion comes from having you and Yeano listed in the village.

Agreed.

And Helius does have a valid good point here. Everyone's busy and that would definitely speed the game up. But, who do you have in mind, Helius?

November 25, 2012
Castrael

I'm inclined to think at least one of the players who haven't posted are Mafia but I'm not sure I'm comfortable voting for any of them.

November 25, 2012
Jo Nathan

I'm thinking the same thing. I somewhat already have an idea on who's who but I don't want to jump to conclusions right away.

But, should we not lynch or should we lynch?

November 25, 2012
Castrael

Turns out I can't vote from the web browser on my Kindle.

November 25, 2012

v.v

(cry)

November 25, 2012
Castrael

You've started it by voting for me...

November 25, 2012
Count Dooku

You said you'd murder me via skype... (shifty)

November 25, 2012
Castrael

A role claim would also increases the chances of us getting two kills tonight, between the Grinch and Frosty, which would give us a comfortable 10-3 lead going into the next Day.

I think we should take a stab with a sharpened candy cane though. (hehe)

Through and through though, I haven't the faintest clue as to who to vote for. If I had to choose anybody at this point, it would be Cas.

We've still got about 21 hours to make a decision, in case anybody was wondering.

November 25, 2012
`Roxas`

Yeah and those 21 hours better be a good one {:/}

:P

Yes, lets take a stab

November 25, 2012
Castrael

Another option is a role claim because the Humbugs will have to blend in and thus confuse the Grinch on who to kill. It increases the chances that the Humbugs get targeted by the Grinch.

A roleclaim wouldn't do anything of the sort. The Grinch would just target our power roles for a couple of rounds and we wouldn't gain anything.

I'm voting No Kill for now. We have three votes against Castrael and all of them appear to be jokes (you're doing a wonderful job of making friends in your first game, Padme :P), and while I have no reason to think that she's innocent I'm not willing to watch someone get taken out because of a joke. Also, we need to keep in mind that there's the possibility of us losing two of our own a night, so our ratio isn't quite as healthy as it might seem. A stab in the dark isn't worth it if it's just a completely random guess. Although I would like to hear Roxas' reasoning for why he would vote for Cas.

November 26, 2012
white lancer

I'm with lancer - the Grinch, despite having a yellow role, wins with the Mafia and will be just as eager to pick off power roles as they would. Role claims seem to be effective later in the game, so perhaps we should wait until then?

Also I don't find anything particularly suspicious about Castrael. I vote to let her live past Day 1 of her first game. {:P}

November 26, 2012
Jo Nathan

November 26, 2012
Helius

Yes, the ones we have to look out for are the ones that are being quiet. We also need to find those humbugs as well. that's are first priority. Then, we need to figure out who the Grinch is and he's the one that really knows/talks to any one.

I'm doing some studying :D

November 26, 2012
Castrael

I'm open to voting for just about anybody, but something just seems off about her. Not sure what it is exactly, though.

I could actually see that. It's tough to say, though, since we haven't actually played with her yet.

Oh shiz. i just read that. the grince haz to be someone who hasnt spoken to anyway.

There's no reason why the Grinch has to be one of the ones that hasn't said anything yet. It's not like they're permanently silenced or anything.

And I must admit that I'm completely missing what Feral is referring to when he says we're misunderstanding something about the Grinch.

November 26, 2012
white lancer

There's no reason why the Grinch has to be one of the ones that hasn't said anything yet. It's not like they're permanently silenced or anything.

Oh, I pretty much assumed that he/she was to be quiet, because of Feral has said.

Also, the Grinch can't communicate with the Humbugs and don't know them. I think that may be the reason why. Or, something about a Cindy Lou Who or the Grinch able to pick one person during that night, possibly?

Jo Nathan

Lol @ Vote Count going 4, 3, 2, 1.

November 26, 2012

November 26, 2012
Castrael

I'm only just a little suspicious of Castrael, but I don't think I'll vote to kill. This is the first time I've seen you ever and have nothing else to go on.

I'm pretty alright with assuming Roxas is innocent for now. Him being unsure of the Ghost of Christmas Spirit's silence word doesn't seem like something he'd fake. Noticing that ONLY White Thunder and chiefsonny both said the word "nice" would have taken a good amount of effort, and I think someone that was a humbug would either say "I think [the actual word] is the word that caused them to get silenced" or nothing at all.

November 26, 2012
MajorasMask9

Sorry for my silence. With work and school starting today, I lost track of the game (look)

I just read through everyone's posts and I'm kind of in agreement with MM9 and Roxas about Castrael but with this being the first day and her first time playing, it's probably just paranoia. So until something pops up for us...
