Having decided against a blind lynch, the town retired to their homes for the night. After eating dinner, many tuned in to the local news station in time to watch a live special report.
Reporter Feral: "We've had various reports from citizens in this area regarding strange occurrences - missing cattle, lights in the sky, strange patterns in local cornfields. The locals are, understandably, a bit spooked. What can you tell us about these incidents?"
FBI Agent Dooku: "We are doing everything we can to cooperate with local law enforcement and get to the bottom of these claims. In my experience, usually these kinds of things turn out to be a bunch of bored kids goofing off, nothing sinister."
Reporter Feral: "Is it possible that we are being visited by beings from another world? Extraterrestrials? Aliens?"
FBI Agent Dooku: "I can neither confirm nor deny the existence of extraterrestrials."
Reporter Feral: "Isn't that a confirmation in itself?"
FBI Agent Dooku: "... He knows too much! Shut it down!"
A brief scuffle follows, during which the camera ends up in the dirt. Reporter Feral is seen for the last time being shoved into the back of an unmarked sedan before the feed cuts out.
Apparently undisturbed, the people of Roswell lock their doors, close the curtains, and head to bed.
Most of them, that is.
