Day 2

“Chief, you’ve been tailing us too closely. It’s now time for you to die.”
Chief rolled around in his office chair and shouted: “I’ve had my run. I’ll be the death of you yet. You just watch, mafia scum!” And with that the Mafia killed Chief.

In other parts of the Skyplex, white lancer was fast asleep when the Serial Killer struck. The residents of the Skyplex were concerned when a strange smell came from lancer’s apartment. They found him dead.

As the residents gathered around Chief’s body, the Apprentice knelt down closely. There was a message there for the Apprentice. The Apprentice hurried out of the room to become the Tracker.

That's an interesting article. It kind of implies that CtR was checked, and the Journalist did get a result of him visiting Chief, but it doesn't explicitly state that, and it has such a playful tone that it comes off like a joke to me. It lets the Journalist potentially influence a lynch, but if it turns out CtR is innocent, the Journalist has the "it was just a joke guys, chill" excuse.

There are too many conveniences for the Journalist to get that lucky on the first day, and have the person he knows is guilty ask about the Journalist. The Journalist doesn't give a shit who wins, and that article is a really clever way to try to get us to think "wait, what? Did the Journalist get info on CtR or not?" But, all we have to do is remember that if the Journalist did actually have something, there wouldn't be much reason for him or her to be ambiguous about it. It should be a clear article stating "Hey, CtR looked at chief last night, better catch him" or whatever.

I could be overthinking it, of course, but it's such a strange comment to me that I'm not willing to trust it at all. Although, even if the Journalist is lying, that doesn't mean that CtR is innocent. So maybe it's worth taking the chance and lynching him. Even if he winds up innocent, we've learned some valuable info about our Journalist.

I'm a little surprised you think the Journalist is so hard to trust, Bandit.

I mean I get where you're coming from but this is very early in the game still. I don't think the Journalist would do something that would make him so hard to trust this early in the game. If CtR Black isn't mafia, then ok looks like we're just not going to trust the Journalist's claims anymore. I don't think there's really going to be anyone in the town that would simply react with "ok gotcha you were just joking that's cool I still trust you."

It's our only lead at the moment but it seems pretty solid.

Seems like a legit enough of a reason to me.

If the journalist is on our side, then it looks like we've basically obtained a detective role we have been severely missing. If the Journalist is wrong, then we know to just ignore further reports (which would have been a really stupid move on the Journalists' part.)

I also agree that we shouldn't be quick to form a bandwagon against him solely because of the article; however, I would still vote for him if there are no candidates better suited for a lynching because I don't know what else we have to go off of.

Something about this doesn't sit well with me tbqh. Full disclosure: part of the reason it doesn't sit well with me is because I jokingly told chief that he would be the first person I kill the next time I'm mafia. This may be a stretch and possibly a bit egocentric.... but I can't help but wonder if this was a mild attempt to steer suspicion toward me without explicitly calling me out, hoping that someone else would do that for her.

I'll put this here for now pending further discussion.

I'm willing to test the integrity of our journalist. If they're making false allegations, then all they've earned is our distrust.

On the other hand, we might hit a useful Mafia role if things are on the level.

I think more consideration should be given to what The Bandit said. It doesn't completely seem as if the journalist is saying that I'm mafia, they're just speaking hypoheticals. The Journalist has the power to see whether or not a person left their room; it doesn't say I did such a thing, which I can guarantee I didn't. It says nothing of what I did it only says, and while it says it is telling you that it is only saying, that they are telling you I'm mafia.

With the lack of explicit information from the journalist and still the desire to lynch me I'd look more suspciously at those who haphazardly threw a vote toward me.

Nonetheless, this would be a way to verify the journalist. And i feel the sooner that's done the better.

This all just seems like a ploy for player points to me. After all, that's how the Journalist gets his points is by influencing lynches. Sure, a Mafia claim via Journalist seems highly incriminating for CtR, but I'm not willing to buy it.

Count Dooku was on the observation deck on his floor as the Marksman approached. Count Dooku was oblivious to the mafia member as the Mafia member pushed him off the observation deck. Count Dooku would not survive the 100 floor fall.

The Marksman slinked back into the shadows.

CtR was sitting in his room looking over the newspaper and questioning why the Journalist hated him so much. It's not like he killed anyone... well, except for that one time! That was it! He swore!

A menacing shadow crept into the room and spoke in deep voice to keep him unrecognizable.

"Did you kill Dooku?"

CtR turned around and stared incredulously at the masked man before him. He squinted shortly there after.

"Do I know you from somewhere?"

The masked man began punching CtR.

"Did you kill the Dooku!?!?"

CtR knowing his life was at an end shouted!

"I did! I did kill the Dooku! I confess. W-w-who are you?"

The masked man smirked...

"I'm the Batman."

POW!

Good move by the guard to jump in and take out a clearly panicked Marksman. Big lol at the Journalist losing points though. I was inclined to believe him, as no journalist wants to lose his credibility this early in the game.

Well not so much "suspicions" plural since it was only me... until Ghowilo came along with his own reason, anyway.

Bubba summed my thoughts up. I did acknowledge that it could be a stretch considering the fact that she never explicitly called me or anyone else out by name, but I don't really have any other suspicions. It's feasible that she was trying to imply something cautiously instead of coming out guns a-blazin' and drawing attention to herself. It's also feasible that I might be making an ass of myself, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.

I said this because I remembered the last game I hosted. Chief did a great job at taking out 2 (I think?) mafia players. Mafia would definitely want him gone since he's a good player.

Hmm... I'm not ready to kill Cas yet. Her comment about wasting a kill sort of sounds like she's a Townie.

I'm curious about SDYoshi. Yes he tends to be on the inactive side, but he's only made one appearance so far this game. His inactivity is even notable for him. So I'm changing my vote. I remember when he was Mafia he also dropped off the face of the world.

At any rate, after sleeping on it, I'm not so confident that Cas is mafia anymore. As much as I hate to flip-flop after the spectacle I made yesterday... well, I'm sorry. I find it more likely that I was reading too much into her comment and I feel like I need to rescind my vote.

Now that I'm on my computer, I can post some more in-depth thoughts about the whole thing (just don't expect any novels from me).

Sure, we lost one of our own, but at least he wasn't a power role. I mean, he was a Special Club member, but aside from access to their own thread, they're just Townies otherwise, so not a big loss for the Town in terms of roles. It is, however, a huge loss for us in terms of a spectacular player. Dooku has always been among the strongest players in Mafia, regardless of role and affiliation, so I can see why he was the one taken out.

And I can also see why the Guard took out CtR -- apparently the Journalist is on our side and gave us a Mafia free for the killing. With CtR's death, however, comes a question -- to lynch or not to lynch? I'm more than in favor of not lynching since CtR would have gone this round regardless, and recklessness in Mafia has cost the Town the game on at least a few occasions. I say it's a better idea to No Kill this round and start fresh next round; whatever happens in the Night could be to our advantage. And as it stands, there's nothing really to go on.

Pretty safe bet going after CtR, but it would have been better to keep him a live a little bit longer, considering he could have potentially given us a more substantial lead on the Mafia, but a 2-for-1 without lynching is great too.

I think it's safe to say that Apollo was most likely silenced, based off the way she plays.

If it weren't for the fact that when killed, that player is highlighted by the killing party's color, I'd have said CtR killed chief while the Mafia killed lancer, but the Serial Killer(s) do throw a bit of a wrench into how this game will play out.

I get a feeling that The serial killer didn't just choose lancer off the player list at random. This person would be one to target the strong players first, which may be the Mafia's plan as well, but we'll just have to see. Maybe it was just a random kill, but I highly doubt that.

Any way, time is winding down in the round and with no actual chance for a lynch to happen, barring a miracle, i'll go along with the vote.
