outside communication during games

Posted May 26, 2013 by Feral

Not bringing this up as an attempt to prevent outside talking, as it isn't possible to do. Just wanted to say this before roles are assigned.

Between PMs, IMs, e-mail, and especially the Faded Enigma chat(most of it's regular members are now playing), the potential(and probably inevitability) of OOG talking is way up. This is a reminder to everybody that you can not trust ANYBODY. Be very careful who you share info with and where you do so.

If you look back through the last game, it was out of game communication that allowed the Mafia to destroy the town(my early foolishness a big part of it, hence why I am saying this).

Just be careful with sensitive information.

Also, for those who forgot or didn't know, outside communication between living and dead players is forbidden and will cause you to lose all points for the game, and possibly a ban from one or more future games depending on the severity of the infraction. Yeah, I made the mistake last game as well.

Cheating would imply that it gives an unfair advantage.

{y}{y}{y} Don't have to give out any information you feel would compromise your game.

Oh yeah, part of the reason Speed was tricked and I was drawn to the game again was from OOG talk. It was never against the rules since it can't be moderated, but please be a good sport and try not to reveal game sensitive information if you can help it (like me, apparently! Damn hypocrite). Quick skim says someone's trust was betrayed after they revealed themselves to be a harmless vanilla townie, so that actually kind of hurt the town, imo.

Yet OOG communication after you have died IS against the rules and it faces the same moderation problem.

Yeah it is and if it's discovered that you leaked game sensitive information. All we can do is ask you to be a sport and don't fucking do it. Which is to say that two people could get away with it easily if trust OOG is established.

Uh, there I go, giving away more free ideas.

Just like how two people could easily get away doing it right now?

I don't understand your argument (?) or how you've said anything that everyone doesn't already know.

Well, guess that's your problem. Just don't get caught when it comes to game sensitive information and then it won't be against the rules. Loophole galore, but I s'pose enough games have gone by where people started to realize that.

Looking forward to seeing if anything new has been brought to the table this time around. It's been a while.
