Salvager v2

Basic Stuff

  • Text-based House salvaging game. Items are pulled from the lachesis built up over in the trading game + improvements I've made in alchemist.

  • You have limited inventory space while salvaging, and can swap items if you see something more valuable.

  • There are two currencies -- "salvager credits" which can open up houses and "gold" which is more general purpose. When you sell items it'll fill the salvager credits slot first, which starts out capped at 200. This allows you to continue to buy houses without being softlocked, and additionally keeps you from salvaging bigger houses without upgrades.

    Regions and Resource Spread

The map is divided up into Regions. Each one has several towns you can salvage within as well as a kind of salvager hub town where you can sell items you've salvaged and buy additional stuff. You also have a House here.

Items within each category are palletized so you have a limited set of items that you can salvage.

The region's Industries dictate the shops that are available, fixtures for sale, the types of houses that spawn and their furniture/item spread. Each region is attached to several other regions and it costs quite a bit of money to open up links between them for traveling.

    Tools

Tools will allow you to gain more access to rooms/furniture within houses, for example an Axe which clears away wooden rubble.

Tools can rarely be found, and can be sold. They can be bought but they're quite expensive and not always available in a Region. They also take up inventory space.

    Fixtures

You can buy Fixtures for your House that transform items:

  • Salvagers -- Salvage composite items for their base material(s).

  • Crafters -- Turn one or more materials into composite forms.

  • Refiners -- Turn materials into other (usually more valuable) materials.

    Inventory Management

As mentioned, you have a finite inventory space to pick up items. It's based on total # of items, not stacks or weight. This can be upgraded.

You can store a limited amount of items in your House for later salvaging/selling/whatever. This can also be upgraded, and more cheaply than upgrading personal inventory space.

    Towns

    Towns always contain:

  • Ægghouse -- contains links to the towns where houses can be salvaged. I'm still in the very very early stages of the lore, but it's looking like salvageable towns are basically ancestor simulations. Ægghouses will always contain three Æggs as well as one for your House (The Næst).

  • Trading Outpost -- lets you sell any item whatsoever, though there's maybe a 50% markdown. Trading Outposts also contain Tools.

  • Upgrader -- Allows you to upgrade your salvager credits cap and personal inventory space. Also anything else that I might add over time.

  • Transport -- to other regions.

Towns will also contain categorized specialty shops, where you can sell items for their full value and buy region-palletized (and imports from adjacents) items in that category as well.

    Næst Mechanics

Your house is known as The Næst to fit into the Ægg theme.

In any case, your nest is a place to:

  • Store items for later selling or use.

  • Refine items into more valuable forms.

  • Burn items and refined variants for Fuel to support other Refinement processes.

  • Swap out Tools -- there's a separate Tool Storage fixture that isn't tied to the main
inventory system and doesn't have limits (though there's a fixed amount of Tools anyway).

There's also a Fixture or Menu that lets you buy Fixtures, base storage upgrades and (Delivery) Nodes, which work the way they do in Shatterloop, allowing you to buy/sell items remotely.

    Nœdes

Nœdes are an item that allow to access Shops remotely from within your Nest. When used on a Shop, one is consumed and that shop is accessible from within your Nest's Nœde. They're sort of networked together for easier selling, with the most value of a category taking higher priority. Meanwhile Buying is tabbed out to each individual Shop.
