Initially I was going to start Game 33 Signups but I think it may actually be best to gauge interest before sign-ups begin.

Aside from a general lack of activity, it's also the end of school and beginning of the holidays. I'm sure a lot of people will be engaged in activities outside of gtx0 for a lot of the next couple of weeks.

That said, I would still be willing to host (or have someone else host) a game of mafia right now if the majority of people think they would actually play it.

So before I make a signup thread, I'd just like to hear everyone's opinions: should we just go ahead and do Game 33 now, or should we take a break for a week or two? I'll decide after a lot of the regulars and anyone else interested in playing posts.

Though I'd be okay to play even tomorrow, I realize that many of us could use a short break, especially to account for IRL stuff, so I'd be up for a break as well.

I wouldn't mind taking a break at this point. I imagine with the holidays the activity won't be great, and I know I'll be pretty busy.

The thing is, if we wait 'til after the holidays then I hope people actually put in their share of activity, otherwise we're just gonna keep going through this same process of games flaming out and trying to figure out how to solve it.

So only sign up if you actually want to and are interested in playing. If your schedule is somehow so packed that you can't afford to fit in checking some threads once or twice a day then please stay away because you're just gonna be the reason why this game sucks now.

It seems to me like a fair amount of people would still be ok with a game based on the replies already posted.

What I'll probably do is post signups for a game but only start the game if a "minimum number of players" sign up to play (let's say, 12 people maybe?) But I'll keep this thread open for a bit longer in case more people want to voice their opinion.

I think we should do some brainstorming to come up with ideas to make the game a little more exciting for roles like Townies. They don't have any real power and I think some people see that they are just a Townie and think "this is going to be another boring game for me because I don't have a role with an action."

I like the idea of the Gunsmith because it can give a Townie an action.

Or The Santa role in previous games because it again can give a person an action if they don't have one.

Just some thoughts.

@Majora: I expressed an interest in hosting to Apollo. I'm still thinking about it. If we get enough players, I definitely like the idea of having less townies and more power roles. But, balanced.

Also, Speed, I feel you. I haven't been joining any of the games myself. The inactivity is frustrating, especially when only a few players are putting effort into the game.

This is what I prepose. Let me know if there should be any changes.

Roles:
Santa: Chooses 1 player each night and gives them a gift. Santa cannot gift himself. And he cannot be Roleblocked.

List of Gifts: (There is only one of each type so once Santa gifts one of these, it cannot be given again. Each person only gets 1 Santa gift. Grinches cannot use Santa gifts.
  • Angel: Automatically saves the player if they are targeted for death, be it Night kill or hanging in Tinsel.

  • Box of Cookies: allows the recipient to be the Doctor for 2 nights. The player must let the host know when they would like to use it and on who.

  • Gingerbread Badge: allows the recipient to be the Public Investigator for 2 nights. The verdict of “Naughty” or “Nice” will be written in the snow in the Town Square come morning. The player must let the host know when they would like to use it and on who.

  • Bottle of Strong Spirits: allows the recipient to be the Town Drunk for 2 nights. They must let the host know who they would like to take out for a fun night. This will prevent the target from using their gift.

  • Reindeer Suit: allows the recipient to be the Watcher for 2 nights. The player must let the host know when they would like to use it and on whose house.

  • Candy Cane: A token present that doesn’t do anything. This can be given multiple times.

    Elf: Becomes Santa if the original Santa should fall off a roof and die. Because it’s Christmas and a time for giving, the Elf is given a bulletproof vest from the host. Merry Christmas. He can be given a gift by the original Santa but once he becomes Santa he can no longer use it.

    Bad Santa: Chooses one player each night and gives them a gift. They cannot be Roleblocked.
    List of gifts: (There is only one of each type so once Bad Santa gifts one of these, it cannot be given again.)

  • Icicle: allows the recipient one free Night Kill.

  • Teddy (the lingerie not the bear): allows the recipient to be the Hooker for 2 nights. In essence this stops the Hooker’s target from using their gift. They must let the host know when they would like to use it and on who.

  • Coal: allows the recipient to be the Ninja for 2 nights. They will not be seen by the guy in the Reindeer Suit.

    Dark Elf: Becomes Bad Santa if the original Bad Santa is hanged in tinsel. Cannot be given a gift by Bad Santa.

    Flare, I love that idea. That would be a hell of a lot of fun. It may be a bit too late this year to do this, but then again, I celebrate Christmas twice since my dad's family is Serbian Orthodox and their Christmas is January 7, so I'd be able to put up with it.

    Well, I'm pretty sure we can get the game done by new years. If we're looking for a mini Christmas theme game, then night round will last 24 hours and day rounds will last for 48 hours. I forgot.

    I'm going to try to get a signup thread going in a bit. I'll leave it up to Lady Flare's discretion as to whether she wants to host based on the number of players who sign up :D

    Needless to say I like Lady Flares idea and she'll be hosting unless something comes up :).
