Unsaw should have some interiority somewhere of being transplanted, that fits into the Inhatcheta revelation. Be careful, though -- he wouldn't have been there or the humans wouldve known about the tears-tree. So I'm thinking Inhatcheta also wouldve known him and would have something in *her* interiority about this -- what was he doing, making and spreading seeds? Herding them? I think Fathers make seeds and Brothers herd them or something. This also needs to connect somehow with the Nonaxe/Rosamund reveal + Ellis's ending. Nonaxe revealing her name is a good place to add tidbits of Unsaw's backstory, assuming he was herding or planting seeds.
The leshians being unable to leave the shade of the tears-tree makes no goddamned sense. But given that Unsaw came from here, the real explanation is probably something to do with leshian life cycles and brothers and whatnot. Though god the source Ygg thing needs to be moved towards nonetheless -- incredibly important
I think I need to rewrite 26a-N. There's a lot to unpack here and it needs a strong (ideally emotional) scene underpinning it. It's better now but still needs more -- a good time is after the Unsaw structural rewrite because it's heavily connected.
What exactly do freshly-treed leshians turn into tools-wise? And why is it so valuable?
It should be made very clear that the first sprouts are stronger brothers/sisters than Unsaw
Nonaxe felt around. “Very rare,” she said. “Like indryadine humans. But… wait. Something that MOX did passed more of it through to Brother Unsaw and me. I have a little bit of it? I didn't realize… why did the tears-tree accept me then? I thought Kawan and I balanced each other…” She felt deeper. “Inhatcheta wasn't fully balanced. She…”
Nonaxe cried again. “She couldn't see Father Antiprune again! She was balanced, and then she had to take on more dryadinity so Kawan and I could enter, and that meant she had to take it from another friend, and no, no, no! That friend was Brother Unsaw. In order for me to become what I am, she had to make a treefriend that would see all of his friends die. This is all my fault, and–”
Part of the puzzle here is figuring out where Unsaw was transplanted from -- it required moving through darkness, whatever it was. It couldn't be the tears-tree ygg because no one knows about it. And Vastwood doesn't make a lot of sense because they don't sell leshians.
And then I'd have to figure out how Unsaw actually got there from the tears-tree ygg and especially *why*.
And then if Inhatcheta knew him it would change all of her vignettes around him (which is better, probably -- sets up better foreshadowing for Nonaxe's reveal which is probably also getting spread around).
