vista total security

Posted June 6, 2011 by Black Yoshi

Has anyone ever had Vista Total Security attack your computer? I'm not exactly sure what the hell it is -- the first time it attacked me, I had to use a System Restore to get rid of it. It happened again this morning, and I System Restored again -- the scary thing is, the first time it happened was nearly a month ago to the day...is VTS that kind of program which attacks you every [censored] month until you fess up and pay, or...

...okay, I guess what I'm trying to say is, does anyone know anything about the program that I don't -- including a way to get rid of it that doesn't require a doctorate in computer programming to understand?

Sometimes pieces of malware reside quietly on a computer, and they download and/or install other pieces of malware. Perhaps when you used system restore, you got rid of Vista Total Security but the underlying malware was still hiding somewhere, and that's why it came back.

I'm assuming this Vista Total Security is a fake antivirus and is blocking you from running any programs. If you ever are in that situation, try using an alternate user on that computer. Chances are the rogue antivirus is in the startup settings for your particular user, and logging in with a different username will allow you to run whatever malware scanners you need to. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is one of the best and I highly recommend it.

Alternately, you can try an antivirus boot CD. The BitDefender Rescue CD might be helpful.

I hope that helps. Let me know how it turns out.
