Mafia

Mafia is a game where an informed minority is pitted against an uninformed majority.

Basically speaking, the Mafia has come to town, and they want to kill everyone. The citizens of the town (sometimes called Townies), want to eliminate the mafia. Each member of the Mafia knows who everyone in the mafia is, making the mafia an informed minority. The much larger group of people, the town, does not know who anyone is.

Each night, the mafia has the opportunity to kill one townie. Each day, the town (with the mafia blending in) can vote to lynch someone. The mafia wins if they kill off the town, and the town wins if they kill off the mafia!

IMPORTANT: In order to play Mafia, you must have a gtx0 account. If you do not have one, it is very easy to create one!

Click the "Register" link up at the top of the page. If you have a username and password on file, you can enter those, however your password won't be what you enter, for security reasons. Otherwise, a new account will be created with the username and password you specify. Your email must be a valid email; activation instructions and a copy of your username and password will appear in your mailbox within 4 hours (usually instantly). Click the link to activate your account.

After you have made sure you have an account (you must be logged in to play properly), you can sign up in the Sign Up Thread. Once the host feels enough people have signed up, the host will start the game. Under the title of the forum, you should see "Your Role is" and then your role will be listed. This will be your specific role. If you are confused about roles, consult the Mafia Roles document in this forum.

It is during the Day that the town can discuss the game and vote on someone to lynch. This will all be done in the main thread for the game. Just keep replying in the main thread for the day round. Everyone will be able to view this.

During the night round, players with night abilities will post in the thread pertaining to them (Mafia, Sheriff, Doctor Thread, etc.). For example on how this thread system works, you see on the coolbar that there are "Mafia Posts, Townie Posts, Doctor Posts, and Cop Posts." If you are, for example, the Doctor, you will post in the "Doctor Post" which will be listed in the forum. All private doctor actions will be done in the doctor thread. Be careful! If you post in the main thread or if you make a "normal post," anyone can see it!

Don't worry if you don't understand at first. I will help you learn it, and it is very easy to learn once you start playing.

This game will be played with very basic roles. In other words, the only roles this game will be Mafia, Townie, Cop, Doctor, and Godfather. For more information on what these roles mean, see [d:231].
