An interim between the disorganized superpost and the checklist, for detailing more complex mechanics.

Resource Gathering

  • Each tile type should have a "variety". Handcraft the names here, making sure to split trees by nut/fruit and shrubs by berry/bean.

  • Each tile has a number that represents how much it can be gathered successfully. Let's say 20-200.

  • Each gathering action will deplete it by 1.

  • When fully depleted, it can't be gathered anymore by any means.

  • You get to pick the product you want to harvest. Make sure nut/fruit/bean/Berry stuff is appropriated. The actual menu here should be a table with the products, a piece of data referring to something about the action (for now it's a percentage chance of getting the item, seeded by the variety) and a button to gather.

    Manual Harvesting level 1

Starting out, you don't have any tools and also no means of making tools but still need to gather resources.

So you click the "gather" button and wait 1-5 seconds and it is either successful for fails based on the percentage point.

If it's successful, it subtracts 1 from the tile.

    Inventory

Your inventory has a limited number of items you can carry. Starting out this should be 20. So you could carry 15 nuts and 5 sticks, 20 berries, etc.

Having a full inventory keeps you from interacting with the gather button altogether.

Obviously the items collected here should go into your inventory. They should also have a cat assigned to them, which will be important later.

    Simple Construction and Fabrication

To advance to the next stage of game progression you need to be able to make tools. I mean this isn't strictly required but it makes things way easier.

So, at bare minimum you'll need to make a Crafting room and set down some furniture and tools for crafting said tools.

    Construction mechanics

  • Click construct
  • Pick a direction (select box based on rooms that don't have anything in them) and a type of room (also a select box, just "crafting room" for now).

Should be straightforward. This menu and the fabrication menu should be separate from the paths though.

A construction room costs 5 wood and 5 stone. Stone can be harvested manually from any tile.

    Fabrication

  • Click Fabrication
  • A menu will appear with stuff you can fabricate and a materials cost. And volume used up.
  • Construction rooms have, let's say, 50 volume
  • A toolmaking table takes up 10 volume and costs 2 wood. It then gets placed in the room and can be interacted with.

    Toolmaking

  • Toolmaking tools require 2 stone, so have a way of sticking them in there. No durability herein yet.

  • Everything here costs stone, wood and fiber and should hit all the basic tool requirements.
